Mercedes A-Class
I also work with Mercedes (in a main dealer), expensive cars to repair I'm afraid. Certainly wouldn't be my choice of car - sorry.

Thanks Baz !
Just to to say a big thanks to Baz  Last Thursday I advertised in the "Items wanted" section for a boot/fuel release cable as mine had snapped. Within a very short period of time Baz replied that he had one and the transaction was carried out. I received the cable next day (Friday), fitted it Saturday and all is well again :D Thank you Baz, for your great service -it was much appreciated  Cheers - Andy

Hi Vodkashots, I found myself in a similar situation in July 2009, my Zed was not going to pass the MOT because of excess corrosion. How it passed the previous MOT (before I bought it) - I've no idea :confused1: I borrowed a MIG welder from Ossian, who also gave me welding lessons - and over the course of about a year +, I replaced inner and outer sills, wheel arches, parts of the floor and a lot of the inner quarters. I'd never used a MIG welder before that, fair enough - my welding was dodgy to begin with but eventually improved through practice. It is do-able, if I can do it - most people on here can! It was a case of teaching an old dog new tricks :scared: I hope that you get sorted out, one way or another. Cheers - Andy

Non-standard bits?? (Picture Heavy)
Hi all, At the last Scottish KFC meet (last Wednesday), I had the opportunity to see the boot area of Ossian's Zed.........nothing untoward there you say. On comparing my boot "boards" it would appear that, what I thought was standard fit - is most definitely not. I have three fairly heavy vinyl covered metal boards instead of the hardboard ones. The same kind of vinyl covered aluminium? is present in the passenger's footwell, protecting the ECU. Then I compared the standard targa covers against mine, again, a custom job. Foam padded , vinyl/leatherette? Lastly, the auto gear knob.....leather stiched? Can anyone shed any light on these items or are they more common than I think that they may be? :confused1:

Steamers Tip Of The Day
Never weld sitting down with your legs directly under the area to be welded - set my overalls on fire doing just that last year

Disintegrated oil filter
The engine flush would not cause this but neglect would and did. That filter has not been changed for a very long time, it's a marvel that it didn't start circulating round the engine

Yep, I'm ok for that :cool3: No more eye scraping then?

Disintegrated oil filter
I used engine flush before the oil change to help with the clean up process. Hard to tell what "quality" the old oil filter was, it really did fall to bits when removing it. The suggestion of a sooner rather than later oil change is a good one though. Wonder when the cambelt was last changed..................if ever? - lol

Disintegrated oil filter
I changed the oil and filter on my son's Pug 306 1.4 tonight and the oil filter disintegrated when I tried to remove it  How long has a paper element type oil filter got to be in a car before it gets to that stage - Jeez. He's only just bought the car - wonder what else is in store for us?
