Cold compression test
Hi all, I carried out a cold, dry compression test on my TT tonight, seeing as I was replacing the spark plugs anyway. The front two cylinders gave about 110 to 113 psi The middle two cylinders gave about 96 psi And the rearmost cylinders were better at about 120 psi Not great figures but the car runs well, boosts well and has only just started giving me a rough idle until it warms up. 94,000 on the clock and it appears to have been reasonably well looked after. Looking at previous forum posts on compression test results, I was expecting a better set of results than I attained....... Mind you, this is a borrowed compression gauge and I can't vouch for it's accuracy. Any ideas or do I put the new plugs in, go for a drive and then retest when warm/hot? Cheers - Andy

Time for new spark plugs maybe?
Yep, it'll be a new set of plugs then, that should unleash at least another horsepower :D

Time for new spark plugs maybe?
I'm guessing that that's one of the three which were replaced in 2008.

Time for new spark plugs maybe?
Now , I have very little service history for this car but the last pertinent garage invoice tells me that three spark plugs were renewed in 2008, some 8000 miles ago. On a whim today, I removed three plugs (two NGK and one Bosch) to check on their condition (see photos), obviously I don't know how long the three plugs that weren't changed in 2008 have been in the car. Looking at their condition, do you think that a new set of plugs is in order and again looking at their condition, do you think that the engine is running ok? I've got a small idling problem (as many have) but the car boosts and runs very well. :D Cheers - Andy (Hope that the photos aren't too big)

Door open light always on .....
Spot on Jeff  The interior light wire had become trapped around the seat belt bolt, which I had removed to fit my replacement boot/fuel release cable. The insulation was torn apart and it had also pulled out the green wire from the back of the door switch connector. The cable has now been re-routed and insulating tape applied to the damaged area, dash light now works properly  Why though, does my Meta alarm still chirp three times (indicating an open door)? Many thanks Jeff Andy

Product review - Tiger seal
I'll second that :D My son had the door mirror kicked of his new Kia Rio, £200 for a new mirror or ....rewire it and Tiger seal it together. Fair enough it can't fold in any more but in all other aspects it works. Great stuff!

Door open light always on .....
Jeff, even with both door switch screws removed, the relay is still warm/energising -why should this problem suddenly appear, could it be the relay that is failing? No work has been carried out on the alarm system (Meta), since I've had the car (3 years). Cheers - Andy

Behind the passenger's side quarter panel trim, just to your left if you were sitting in the rear (at bum height). Blue relay, maybe part number 25240-C9980 (I think). Cheers - Andy

Sandy or Del , if either of you can lay your hands on an interior light relay in time for tomorrow - I'm in need of one. Cheers - Andy

Door open light always on .....
Reconnected the boot lamp and that's working ok :whistling: Sooo, I guess that the relay's packed in.

Door open light always on .....
 I disconnected the boot light ages ago 'cos I flattened the battery a few times by not shutting the tailgate properly. Think I'll just nip out to the garage and reconnect it now.......doh!

Door open light always on .....
I've just renewed the boot/fuel release cable and thought that maybe I'd left off the electrical wire, I had connected it - so then checked that the sprung lever was actually clearing the latch assembly and it was....was that correct?

Door open light always on .....
Hi all, As per thread title, my door-open warning light on the dash is constantly on. I've checked the door and tailgate switches and they are all working ok. However, the interior light relay is warm to the touch and my battery discharged itself fully a few days ago - connection? :confused1: To me, it points towards a replacement relay required - any thoughts? Cheers - Andy
