After twenty two months off the road  my Zed is once more on the road :clap:

I took it off the road in July 2009, as it was going to fail the MOT on excess corrosion - holes in the floor and rotten sills

I've had to open up the sills on both sides (front to rear), cut out the rust (outer and inner sills) plus some of the floor and fabricate/buy new panels. The rear arches, both inner and outer, needed replaced.

The area around the fuel filler was completely shot, so that all needed cut out and replaced. The rear lower quarters were also rotten and required replacing and then a couple of small holes in the front inner wing and the rear panel - phew!

After that was done......I found out that the front calipers had seized :crying:

New seals from Bigg Red, braided hoses from DTA and a new metal brake pipe later - MOT time.

Failed.....the brake master cylinder packed in :cursing:

A replacement master cylinder from Zerocooldel's breaker  then a retest :sweatdrop: .................Passed :dance:

She looks a wee bit rough just now but that's the next project.

I wouldn't have been able to do all of this without help from Ossian, he gave me a loan of his MIG welding outfit and his help, advice and encouragement kept me going when I was at my wit's end - Thank You Robert.

Thanks also to Berrica, for regassing me and ensuring that work went on!

Not all Zeds have to be scrapped when the tinworm strikes, I'm lucky, in that I had a garage, the equipment, the time, the friends and the determination to keep the car on the road.

Photos to follow - hopefully.

Apologies for the long post - Andy

Thanks for the compliment

Close up you can see the various chips, scrapes dents etc.

The back quarters are done in Halfords black gloss, the rest of the car has lovely purple/black metallic finish - but it'll do for now

matey, they are 20 year old cars, if they didnt have some sort of mark from road use in that time, then its either just been fully resprayed or sat in a garage all its life lol

looks a good job though. at least you wont have to worry about the rust worm any time soon.
