REDLINE magazine shutting up shop....
Just read on Driftworks that Redline magazine has been given the chop by it's owners. Only two issues to go before it shuts up shop for good. Shame really as Redline was one of the better car mags Max Power has obviously already gone (understandably as it had gone to the dogs since editors changed over) but this all got me thinking, does anybody remember a car mag from the '90s called 'Revs'? it closed its doors quite a while back but that had some good zed features over the years

Head bolt removal
Success, at last the final head bolt is off and the full strip down can begin. The Irwin 'Bolt Grips' sockets that were recommended by Jimmer arrived the other day and worked a treat

love this zed
That'll be photoshop at its best surely? If it's like that in the metal I would be very impressed, the amount of work gone into it would be immense but definately photoshop, inspiring perhaps

Where have you mounted your electric gizzmo's?
I quite like the idea of the boost controller mounted by the rear view mirror. Ideally I want to have it to hand so that it can be adjusted on the move without too much drama. maybe the EDFC controller could go there as well. I think the turbo timer is the easiest to mount as it doesn't really need to be adjusted that often keep the suggestions coming fellas cheers

Where have you mounted your electric gizzmo's?
With my sausage fingers, I'd bugger that up

Where have you mounted your electric gizzmo's?
I've just fitted my HKS din panel, which fits nicely above the CD player but now I have to find somewhere to mount my electric gizzmo's gizzmo's include the following: - Greddy boost controller - Greddy turbo timer and - Tein EDFC controller I don't want to hide them away in the glove box as I wouldn't have ease of access to be able to adjust boost and damping. Where have you guys mounted yours??? any suggestions???

Pod challenge set vg30dett vs ls3
It's running stock boost at the mo' but I've got Greg's (Protuner) mobile number so I'll give him a ring in the next day or so to discuss various options. I want to see what the shortie's producing currently as it's definately a lot quicker than any stock zed I've driven previosuly (and Marty will vouch for that I'm sure) but I can't see any real reason why? Other than it being fitted with a straight through decat exhaust system and induction kit (Blitz I think) it really is stock. I then want to fit the larger smic's, Nismo 740's, AEM EMS and Greddy boost controller before it go's back on the dyno for a full map. Is it really a huge nause to get the stock turbo's swapped for my larger ones? I'm looking at heading off potential cooling issues created by doing all of the above and am looking at Japspeed and Koyo rads as a precaution (Japspeed is looking a good bet) October sounds good, that should give enough time to get the work done Oh and it's a manual

Pod challenge set vg30dett vs ls3
Update on this.... I was sat down this morning having a brew with my mate Scotty (the VXR8 owner) when he brought up the subject of our head to head at the pod. As far as I'm concerned it's only a bit of fun so suggested that we attend the upcoming RWYB day. Initially he thought this was a good idea, but then started to back track; nothing at all to do with his lack of confidence in his cars performance but more so the fact that his anti-petrolhead girlfriend had just moved in and she hated anything to do with racing and it was their first weekend together yada, yada I gave a bit of a ripping but left it at that As we were leaving I offered him the keys to the shortie' and told him to take it for a blast to see what he thought 5 minutes later he returned and I half expected him to slate it but fair play to him, he admitted that he'd really underestimated the zeds performance and that the twin turbo setup really did make quite a difference. He conceeded that he suspects that the zed would be all over the VXR8 for the most part and that he wouldn't want to bet money on the VXR8 pulling it out the bag during the last couple of hundred yards. He thinks it'll be a lot closer than he initially thought and that without the VXR8 being supercharged it might not come out on top after all. We've agreed that this head to head has to happen, if not at the Pod then maybe somewhere else (I've got a place in mind) but it would have to go ahead. I'm really intreagued now, Scotty's comments have really given my confidence a boost......now all I have to do is give the zed a bit more boost and we're on :punk:

Head bolt removal
BUGGER!!! did I do it wrong???

Head bolt removal
I've gone for a spare 1.5 internal hex wheel nut packed with epoxy resin threaded onto each head bolt approx 3/4 of the way down the head bolt thread (ensuring no overspill). That'll be solid within the next hour or so, but I'll leave it until the morning and then crank the headbolts off. We'll see tomorrow morning if that's worked

Head bolt removal
Just started to remove the headbolts 13 of them came out without a problem but 3 of them were torqued down so tight that they've rounded off....not my f**king day!! short of strapping some PE4 and det cord to this piece of shite engine, any ideas how to go about removing them now? thanks in advance

New Head moderator
Just wondering, what is the 'rank structure' and responsibilities associated with the various positions? I'm confused about the whole moderator, super moderator, head moderator thing???

i want a zed
Keep the M3 as a your current daily driver but buy Marty's silver SWB as a project. Buy/source a VG30DETT from forum/ebay and rebuild over the coming winter months, carry out an auto-manual conversion and then replace its current NA lump (sell the NA engine on ebay to re-coup some $).....simples!

Future zed owner!
