Thread Closed!!!! lol!! Club suggestions??
- Thanks Jeff!
I take it Jeff told you to nip down to the petrol station and put some fuel in it then......- Anyone ever had a ford cougar?
Yep, it's just the order that they were uploaded onto photobucket. The black Celica has a much nicer interior than the GT4- Anyone ever had a ford cougar?
I'm going to pop up to see the lads for a brew and a chat and will ask what the score is with the GT4. Apart from not having wheels, last time I took a look around it it seemed in very good condition, so I would assume that it must be an engine issue, or it could just be that they took it in as a non runner but it may be a simple fix. I do like Celica's but only the earlier models as above ^^^, I'm not too keen on the gen 7, very underpowered in my opinion.- Anyone ever had a ford cougar?
I would go for a Celica GT over a Cougar bud, but I'm a jap whore to be fair I know a company selling an imported Celica (NA) I believe but owned by the daughter of a good friend of mine, I was going to buy it myself until Marty came along with the shortie' zed. At a glance it's been mildly modified and looks like TRD have played a part in it at some point. Kakimoto exhaust, MOMO steering wheel (if I remember correctly) and he was only asking £800 I think He's also got a GT-four A really nice guy as well- Anyone ever had a ford cougar?
Is it the Ford Cougar or Ford Kuga that you mean bud? I assume the Cougar, and not the later 'pretend' 4x4 Kuga a friend of mine used to have a Cougar but said that it was quite disapointing, in fact he only owned it for about 8 months then replaced it with a Mondeo ST220 I've never owned one myself but it was likened to driving the Probe I suppose it depends what exactly you're going to use it for- Ice Hockey
:ban: for being funny!!- Ice Hockey
so wrong....funny.....but so wrong - Bagged a SAMCO bargain but need more bits...
Cheers mate I'm just having a bit of a 'Rain Man' moment.....I want blue SAMCO smic pipes- Ice Hockey
I skated a hell of a lot at the Cardiff ice rink as a kid many many moons ago, and moved on to street hockey/blading before it really took off in the UK. I'm sure that my centre of gravity was a hell of a lot lower back then so I'd probably spend more time on my arse if I tried it now not much use to you I know but lower centre of gravity and a good 'getting back up off your arse' technique will really help- Head bolt removal
cheers bud- Bagged a SAMCO bargain but need more bits...
Hey fellas' I've just bagged myself a bargain in the form of ex display blue SAMCO hoses/pipes for £75 but I'm now looking for blue SAMCO smic pipes and vacuum hoses any body selling?- hmmm what could it be
^^^^^ I had this with one of my old zeds which was fitted with a single APEXi induction kit, it got wet and the drive was really bad and was advised to go for JWT pop charger as it's more water repellant? never actually got to fit the JWT kit though so wouldn't know if it would have made a difference in the wet, but I do know that once the APEXi filter had dried out the drive returned to normal- Head bolt removal
One thing that I have found since stripping the engine out is this: why would there be small metal shards this side of the mesh and what might have caused it?- Suggestions for this site and owners club
Perhaps a club meeting at a mutually agreeable venue would help to put a lot of this to bed. I appreciate that it's not as easy for some to make the time or cover the expense of such a meeting but maybe by organising a meeting in the future, at a mutually convenient venue where individuals are able to air their views or concerns in person, it might actually help to bring clarification to certain misconstruded comments/intentions made by individuals and possibly bring closure to some issues previously mentioned. This is just one option obviously and I would quite happily chip in to pick up individuals en route (I could carry 6 additional members) I for one don't want to see good members walk away in disgust- Engines out, now what?
Do OS Giken do a 6 speed box for the Z32- got a date(finaly)
There you go mate, get the crow to polish your plenum instead of giving them a show parade!- got a date(finaly)
I would offer one piece of advice though bud and that's simply stick to your guns (no pun intended) and head down the career path that you want to go down. Don't let any recruiting desk jokey sell you a bum steer ie. if you want to be a sniper in Para reg then stick with it join Para reg and be a sniper, don't let some numpty BS you into believing that if you want you can be a signaller or medic etc and simply transfer after basic training yada yada....it doesn't work like that If you want to be a mechanic and work on MBT's, Mastiffs etc then stick with it and make sure that you start week one, day one on the right path and if all go's well you'll be in sunny Afghan next year earning good money to spend on your zed = win/win :thumbup1:- got a date(finaly)
I'm sure you'll love it mate, you'll be a different person by the time you leave no doubt. Good and bad, it's all part of the ride. WDW- Engines out, now what?
So does the one piece make a difference, worth the money? I've already started the strip down in the workshop, it's amazing how much easier it is to strip parts when they aren't fitted to the car. for example, I've just undone the last 4 bolts on the pair of down pipes, I'd been trying for bloody hours to get to them whilst they were on the car and ended up giving up in the end, once off the car.....2 minutes!! are you still this side of the water?- Engines out, now what?
Yeah they're JE Arias oversized pistons mate, not sure where they are from, I assume the US as I think the Carrillo con rods came from Z1. Have you fitted that one piece prop yet Marty?- Engines out, now what?
Eventually I've managed to get the engine out of the LWB zed, without the benefit of an engine hoist and with every nut and bolt seemingly taking the p**s, it wasn't the easiest job that I've carried out on the old girl, but hey it's done now....all I can say is thank God for creatine! *The internals are forged carrillo and Arias parts thank God* the hardest part was carrying the bloody thing on my tod through the house and garage without dripping oil everywhere anyway, it's currently up on the work bench but I'm planning on putting it onto the engine stand in the next day or so, which would give me some spare work space to strip the rest of the engine; the downpipes are still attached to the turbos and two of the nuts have rounded off so that's more fun to be had.... any suggestions as to where the mounting points are on the block? I'm assuming that large bolts are required to mount it in place? here's a pic of my engine stand I'll cover the new 'Z1 clutch and lightened flywheel' issue later- Head bolt removal
The specialist may have amassed a hell of a lot of $, I suppose it depends on how many customers signed up for £10k builds and recieved £10 worth of work and parts The engine was fired up for the the first time whilst I was there, the total running time was about 2 minutes and then it went onto the back of a trailor never to be started again. All of the pistons are as black as a witches tit (specialist technical term) I'll be giving you a bell shortly I reckon mate to discuss a future build, depending on what I have parts wise to re-build with cheers for the top tips by the way bud- Head bolt removal
The pistons are supposed to be new but I have no idea if they actually are mate I won't mention the zed specialist in question as my other thread is still on hold pending approval by the committee so in the mean time I'm going to crack on stripping the block and see what I find- REDLINE magazine shutting up shop....
To be fair to Redline the guys did put a lot of focus on ensuring that there were plenty of technical features included in each edition including rotational mass tests, unsprung weight effects on braking and handling, basic ins and outs of turbos vs superchargers vs VTEC etc, so really some quite interesting reads. I very rarely bought the mag after '05 though and only used to pick up a copy at the airport to supplement my usual JP and Banzai fix, but Redline was always leaps and bounds ahead of some of the other rubbish (Max Power for example with it's tacky body kitted and neon totting Corsas/Novas and 206 quicksilvers driven by 16 year olds) I haven't bought the latest edition but I probably will, it features a self built road car that's faster to 200mph than a Veyron! A bit more than just 16 year olds with 1ltr Saxos then - Thanks Jeff!
