  1. The DW kit does seems to be decent quality and of course it's track proven on the DW car/s but I've recently had a look at the Japspeed kit (which looks very similar) and I figured that it's likely to also be of decent quality, having also been tried and tested on track with the Japspeed drift cars in BDC. I didn't realise until the other day that Japspeed supplied lower arms and lower suspension braces for the zed Likewise, how does the Japspeed radiators and fmics compare to say, the Koyorad and Greddy/HKS equivelent? cheers
  2. Opinions please on the quality of the Japspeed adjustable kit (camber arms etc) compared to the Driftworks adjustable kit thanks
  3. Welcome back bud Give Gonzo12C (Marty) a shout, he's selling a silver SWB shortly
  4. Rgr, will give that a go first thing in the morning cheers bud
  5. Correct matey Sorry should have made that clear in the first post. This is a spare rear subframe & diff that Big-Jim kindly gave me last weekend. It's not attached to the car. I need to strip the prop off as that's for another forum member, the remainder will be sand blasted, powder coated and fitted with solid bushes ready for a one for one swap with the current subframe on the LWB. I need to find some way of locking off the diff without damaging anything but really struggling at the mo'
  6. Where is it bud (too lazy to Google) Old stiggy Ben Collins will be there this year as well if I remember correctly
  7. Who are the worlds largest IT research and analyst company as a matter of interest mate?
  8. Just trying to get the prop off the subframe but having dramas as it's still fitted to the subframe/diff. I have a wreckers bar fitted with the correct type of socket/bit but is there a particular method for removing it as it rotates freely? cheers fellas
  9. What month? :whistling:
  10. Hopefully, we'll see.... there was a car programme on Sky the other day showing an auction in the US where a Ferrari (250 I think?) sold for $4 million+ I'm not for one minute suggesting that even if there was only 1 zed left in the entire world that it would be worth anything like that but it would be nice if in the future the value of your zed wasn't determined by how much fuel you had left in the tank!
  11. As per title. I don't want to remove the radiator just to measure it, so was hoping that somebody would know off the top of their heads Length = Height = Depth = cheers
  12. Very warm welcome to the club matey :thumbup1: The zed really is a lovely car..... so hurry up and buy yourself a nice one so the mrs can have her MR2 back! Only messing, enjoy the club bud
  13. Yep, been there, dropped nuts and spanners down the transmission tunnel and it ended up taking longer to get them out than it did to fit the bloody short shifter Eventually I ended up taping a magnet to the end of a long screw driver to try reach the nut stuck in the crease, but the magnet kept sticking to everything apart from the bloody nut that I was trying to reach! mugged it off in the end and just retrieved the spanner!
  14. Cheers fellas I have a new rule that I am going to stick to....the car must be driveable once the days fiddling is done
  15. On a scale of 1 to 10 (1 being that a cack handed spanner biff could do it, 10 being professional mechanics only) 1. I've got a 95' spec fuel rail with Nismo 740cc injectors fitted in the LWB and I was wondering, how easy/difficult would it be to do a direct swap (on my driveway) for the stock rail/injectors that are currently in the shortie'? 2. Forged internals and turbo/s swap is an engine out job, no alternative (yes/no)? 3. The AEM EMS that I have, used to be fitted to the same zed that the forged engine came out of, Could I fit the AEM EMS to the shortie' before it's driven up to Protuner for its re-map or should it be swapped once up there (probably didn't explain that very well, does it have a safety mode etc)? cheers fellas
  16. When you mentioned V Power earlier I had a bit of a brain melt, sorry. I used to run my other zed on V Power but have been running the shortie' on regular unleaded so far. When I get the zed mapped up at Protuner it'll be running on regular fuel, I'm assuming that it would still be good to run V Power for the short duration at the Pod without any adverse effects?
  17. That's a very good point and I was thinking about this earlier. I've got all the DW/SPL/Tein adjustable suspension and steering kit to go on this summer and was planning on getting that lot fitted to the shortie' eventually. I wasn't going to do it before going to the Pod but if I were to fit the Tein coilovers that I've got upstairs for the reasons that you've stated mate then I might as well get the whole lot done at the same time, pretty much a week earlier than planned. The zeds sitting a bit high on stock shocks at the mo' so it needs the coilovers fitting, but I understand that the whole geometry of the car would then be thrown out of sync and the adjustable kit will need to be fitted to correct this.
  18. Cheers for the input mate, good tip letting the rear tyres down a bit The white rims on the zed at the moment are 18" 1 piece forged Volk's and they are easily the lightest rims that I have. Currently running on Pirelli P zero's all round (275 front/235 rear). I have considered fitting semi slicks but that could always be used as an excuse 'should' the zed come out on top and I want the result to be definitive, so I reckon we both run with the tyres we've got. The VXR8 is running stock 19" rims, fitted with 275's rear (I think Dunlop's) I've dug out the boost controller from the attic (Greddy Profec Type S) and aim to fit it on the weekend. The only down side is that unlike the Profec spec 2, it doesn't have an LCD display
  19. No, just checked my pulse...I'm still alive mate....that's twice now you've had me worried and checking to see if I'd died without realising it! Definately worth putting them head to head down the 1/4 mile though. at the end of the day the power/torque figures are all in the favour of the V8, exactly as expected, however if I can keep the zed looking stock but discreetly close the gap with a few bolt on's and a re-map then it should be a closer run thing and as stated previously, launch practice and tyres could make a bit of a difference as well positive thinking but if it get's spanked then so what, it's a 15 year old 3ltr V6 pitted against a brand new 6.2ltr V8....there's no shame there
  20. big old beast the LS3! my mate reckons about 420-430'ish brake and I'm guessing similar torque figures?
  21. Just trying to upload pics off my Blackberry that I took today of the zed and the VXR8 side by side The zed is tiny compared to that thing! I got a peak at the engine and it's a beast, no doubt about it it's got the zed beat on torque figures Cheers Andy, yeah it's your old Greddy fmic that I was talking about and I agree....maybe an upsized pair of smic's will help
  22. He wants a head to head and we both hold exactly the same driving quals as we did most of our courses at the same time. I'll do my damdest to get down to meet up with you guys in September.
  23. Yep the VXR8 is pretty quick for a lardy arse! There's no bullshit coming from me and I reckon that I can read a map so getting to the Pod won't be an issue, but thanks anyway....
