  1. Exactly this ^^^^ if you're planning on upgrading for road use then GTR/350z Brembo's are fine but if you want to upgrade because you've caught the track bug and fancy a few more sessions then you need to upgrade accordingly
  2. The AMS Alpha 12 is smashing records all over the place http://blog.amsperformance.com/2011/07/27/ams-alpha-12-makes-history-worlds-first-8-second-gt-r/ so SVM may be applying a bit of poetic licence there I'm guessing it's more the case that they figured that they'd demolish the rest of the field in Time Attack 2012 and actually....well.....didn't
  3. bargain?!? http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/3894997.htm
  4. He does have a valid point though...the chav contingent were well represented
  5. I just happened to be filming the Japspeed guys doing their thing and heard the awesome sound of the Dragon Performance RX7 en route so kept my phone filming.....ouch! I popped over afterwards to take a look at the damage and to be honest, it doesn't appear to be too bad I suspect that the thread bare (down to the wire) 225's on the rear had a part to play in it losing grip and causing it to spin out mid drift
  6. Yeah, I popped that cage in the boot this morning just in case....never mind bud, I'll get it down to you somehow and will grab a brew then
  7. I arrived just after 12 with the wife and kids and parked the troop carrier up at the back of the zed club stand. We then spent most of the afternoon trackside...got some pretty good video footage of the Dragon Performance RX7 spinning out and smacking into the wall....and got some pics afterwards of the damage
  8. Could you give examples of what are and what aren't acceptable modifications mate?
  9. remember to do a cool down lap and then when you park up, don't put your handbrake on...enjoy
  10. I was very close to thinking exactly that, however I'm a great believer that everything happens for a reason. I had it booked in with Greg at Protuner for last Monday; bless him he was willing to work the bank holiday to ensure that it was setup for the 12th but advised against rushing it just for the sake of Japfest....he left it for me to decide and that same day I phoned him back and said that he was right and that I was being stupid trying to rush it through. That was the first set back, but it wasn't really a set back thinking about it now as we wouldn't even have got as far as we've got had we actually taken a day out for mapping. At the end of the day, a 15 minute track session is neither here nor there as I've got the whole Summer to get it run in, and this way at least the kids get a good day out aswell. On a positive note, Hereford Tyres offered to sponsor both cars/supply tyres and manage the alignment and setup etc, as have J&R Recovery/Race Preparations and T&S Autoservices for prep/maintainance and transportation....and uh, recovery if needed..... So in that respect this week has been pretty bloody beneficial more freebies from today  I'll bring my lid with me anyway, just in case
  11. With a squirt of WD40 and a 1/2" socket, I reckon that'll be up and flying in no time...
  12. So after a mad week the shortie' was pretty much good to go: carbonetic triple plate fitted (yes) new gearbox fitted (yes) carbon one piece prop fitted (yes) adjustable suspension and steering fitted (yes) 6 pots/8 pots and new discs and pads fitted and bled (yes) Roll cage fitted (yes) kevlar seats in (yes) harnesses in (yes) hydro handbrake fitted (yes) aero and bodywork sorted (yes) new track tyres fitted (yes) full hunter 4 wheel alignment today and all good (yes) annoying little electrical fault/no rear brake lights sorted.....(uh, no!) there's a short somewhere and despite hours of fault finding we haven't been able to sort it. There's no way that it'll be sorted before scrutineering in the morning so to that end, we ain't taking the zed on track Saturday.... Still it's not all bad news, my wife and I and our three little rug rats are still going to Japfest but we'll be taking the troop carrier instead (Mitsubishi Grandis MPV). I tried to persuade the long haired general that a Grandis could still hold it's own on track but alas, the look said no! are there any objections to a Grandis being on the zed club stand??
  13. No mate, there are a few girly types on here....there are some women aswell :whistling:
  14. Thanks I appreciate the input guys, I'm just looking for price comparison purposes more than anything. *and just to confirm that price above is for the labour? **edit: I'm thinking that it must include parts..
  15. As per title, I haven't had time to phone them direct but figure that quite a few guys would have had there's done at Zedworld, so was wondering what the going rate was?
  16. I very much doubt that Driftworks can be liable for this, as ET 30 shouldn't be an issue. Possibly the inner rims design is the problem. To put that into perspective I'm running two sets of rims on mine at the front (both 9" wide) one set are ET +45 (18") and the other set are ET -7 (17") and they both clear 8 pot calipers on 356mm discs. It may just be that those particular style of Rota's aren't very forgiving. Get yourself some adjustable tension rods mate.
  17. Nothing wrong with that mate, besides which when you've lived with a zed for several years and all the BS that zed ownership entails, most guys (I'm sure) want to cut the bloody thing up!
  18. Hero to zero in a nano second! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OzFGUUR1UDI
  19. Yes mate, give Julian Barnes at Severnside Imports a ring (or his mrs Karren Kinish), if there's no answer then look up Severnside Japanese Imports, Severnside Motorsports, Severnside Motorsport, LBD Clothing, Pinky's Paint Shop, Low Brain Drifters or the latest, Low Brain Speed Shop...or just pop down to Lydney and hand the cash over there and then on a serious note, he ^^^^^ is now importing/exporting to and from the US so be careful mate (last shipment March 2012). Don't hand over any $ until you know exactly what the history of the company is, and don't assume that if it's a UK based company that it's all legit. The American guy who was the business partner of the Jap guy and Kiwi guy, ended up doing a runner back to the US with a lot of peoples $ and started importing/exporting under the name of Driving Sports US (since been changed). It would probably be a good idea to give Autospecs a bell mate (when you're back), they have contacts in OZ so I would have thought that they'd know a reliable company who will import from the US drop them a PM mate: http://www.driftworks.com/forum/members/4241.html
  20. I had a HKS Super Dragger fitted to one of my old zed's and loved it, but I had to get rid in the end as the local plod weren't too fond of it...
  21. More than likely that this is a testing day at the 'Female Open Time Attack' series and that blondie's still applying her lippy in the rear view mirror...completely oblivious as to what's happening :whistling:
  22. .....when you think to yourself "I should've just stayed in bed!" not sure what the story is here ^^^^^ but thank God for roll cages and 6 point harness.....that's all I'm saying
