  1. Last night I eventually sat down and worked out what jobs need doing to be ready for Japfest. Some are pretty straight forward 'drill hole and tighten bolt' type jobs but some I haven't done before and might need professional assistance: (1) Re-fit brake shoes (2) Re-fit and bleed all brakes (3) Replace clutch (4) Fit prop (5) Drill holes and bolt in cage (6) Drill holes and fit harness bolts for passenger side (7) Re-drill holes and adjust drivers seat rail (8) Remove exhaust front pipes and heat wrap (9) Re-fit whole exhaust (10) Plumb in oil cooler hoses (11) Re-fit plug for bov (12) Plumb in fire extinguisher nozzles (13) Re-fit side lights/front indicators (14) Re-fit battery (15) Fit MAP sensor (16) Fit 740 injectors (17) Fit AEM EMS (18) Fit EBC (19) 4 wheel alignment (20) Map at Protuner (21) Modify side skirts (22) Flare the rear arches (23) Graphics fitting at SJS Design (24) Testing I have just shy of 2 weeks to get this lot cracked... *wiring in all of the gauges and the electric gizzmo's can wait until later if anybody is local and wants to earn a couple of quid, give me a shout :thumbup1:
  2. I've got some parts for Vodkashots if he wants them. The scrapman is coming to take the rest of the car away this morning so if he could give me a ring on the mobile number that I PM'd and I'll make sure that the guy doesn't take the bits that he needs. cheers Pez
  3. I'd say that within reason, tyre pressure is more important than contact patch size. However for now I'm going to be running 245's on the rear and that is why on 12th May at Japfest I will be mostly sideways (purely intentional)!! :tongue_smilie:
  4. Yeah and 245 gives plenty of it
  5. The thing is the 245's that have just been fitted were freebie skid tyres that I was given, so I can't really complain that they're a bit narrower than ideal. The +45 offset wasn't by choice, this particular set of Volks came off a Soarer drift car and just so happened to nearly (but not quite) sit flush to the arch, it only sits a mm or two outside of the arch but enough that if I ran 265's they'd catch. they fit ok, but will be switching to the other rims as soon as the weather clears up I picked up my new rims (9j/10j) from Castle Combe yesterday and the guy threw in a few spare sets of new tyres aswell, all varying between 225/235/245 & 255. For road or grip driving it's maybe not ideal but for drifting they'll be fine
  6. PM the address mate and I'll get it all boxed up and sent across to you tomorrow bud
  7. if I tried to run a 265 on the rear as it currently stands, with a gap of approx 10mm (arch rolled or not), there's a good chance that the edge of the tyre would catch the arch lip everytime it went over a speed bump 10" rim with an offset of +45 = rim lip sitting a few mm outside of the arch hence slightly narrower 245 tyre in order to be legal offsets are obviously different
  8. Looks like progress is being made mate, do you still need that relocation plate and hoses etc?
  9. That saves a bit of travelling then, for some reason I thought that it was over the whole weekend? It was busy down at Castle Combe yesterday, I think quite a few people (a lot of scooby owners) were stretching their legs ready for the start of the Summer
  10. Might be a re-post but I thought that this was quite interesting... http://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=300zx%20740%20injectors%20on%20stock%20turbos&source=web&cd=1&ved=0CDMQFjAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.motoiq.com%2Fforum%2Fafv%2Ftopic%2Faff%2F34%2Faft%2F680.aspx&ei=1TidT_uXCqSf0QW357DuDg&usg=AFQjCNHOU3zyMZ7m6Pt6eelYEhN03GrKvw
  11. ah, I see so Japfest is Saturday only shit bust?
  12. So what's happening Friday and Sunday mate? eg. Was the show and shine not moved to Friday etc
  13. I'm not sure, but I'm all paid up for the weekend and there aren't any specific dates on the tickets other than the main 'Japfest Sat 12th logo'
  14. I watched this youtube video that I found on DW and thought that I'd give it a go myself now that the rolling is done, the next step is to use one of the roll cage bars that hasn't been welded in yet, to create the flare that I need. If it go's wrong it go's wrong....I'll fix it with a bigger hammer!
  15. Get the rear hubs off and replace the bushes with DW polybushes first (or concurrently if you knbow a friendly garage) and then fit the rest of the DW kit, it's actually a doddle once you've done the first corner. You may encounter the odd stubborn eccentric bolt or brake disc that doesn't want to be free'd but apart from that it's piece of cake. It get's easier as you go along...
  16. What's the difference in appearance of tickets for Saturday + Sunday and those for just Saturday, is it just the price in the corner?
  17. That's good news mate, see if you can find somewhere with a Hunter system to carry out a full 4 wheel alignment... and as for arch rolling, I've just done mine with a 4lbs mallet and the palm of my hand and it's worked a treat bud. I did a trial run on my old red scrapper and then commited to the SWB once I was happy with the technique (I'll get pics up when the weather clears up a bit)
  18. Any ideas if the AEM 6620A trigger disc is required for series 1 EMS? http://forum.aempower.com/forum/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=21539.0;attach=6577
  19. Hello mate, as far as I'm aware they are a one for one swap for the stock ducts though I've never fitted them (I'm pretty sure that there's a small bag of nuts and bolts in the box with the ducts). The Stillen website states that they will work with stock front bumpers aswell as Stillen aftermarket bumpers. Though they are designe do fit the Stillen smic's and won't fit all smic's. I'm after whatever they sell for mate, I think the current bid on ebay is £25 but because it's got bids on now I won't be ending it early as that wouldn't be fair. Pop a bid on for £26 mate and you never know, you might be the highest bidder
  20. Hmmn....what words to use in order to do it justice..........top uber **** shite gash!!! that'll do!!!
  21. I've stripped a VG30DETT before but never re-built one, how long/easy is it to swap the injectors (*the 740's are already in a '95+ spec fuel rail)?
  22. I'll try to keep this simple. Currently fitted: stock injectors stock ECU MAF removed and replaced with 2 x independent filters (obviously lumpy and undriveable at the moment) This week I will be: *keeping stock injectors fitting MAP sensor fitting AEM EMS (previously run on a zed running 740 injectors) my question is this: Q. Is it possible to simply fit the MAP sensor and then replace the stock ECU with the AEM EMS but leave the stock injectors in situ untill a later date and still be driveable (ie. despite the EMS being set up for 740 injectors)?
