Tuscan hunting
I've still got a Top Gear VHS tape somewhere where an uber permed Jeremy Clarkson lines up a number of 'modern' super cars for a straight line shootout and it's a Lotus V8 that wipes the floor with the rest of the field. I can't remember if there was a TVR amongst them though?

Hoodies...
I'm sure most have seen this video clip or have heard about the incident http://news.uk.msn.com/video-clips/?videoid=2gvfcbt8 could have been handled better in my opinion but there you go, that's the US for you.... anyway this got me thinking about a recent 'social experiment' that I've been conducting over the last few months I generally wear a hoodie (Sprawl or Caged Steel) to the gym, or whilst running, working on the zed and will regularly wear them on lazy days just because it's comfortable and a God send in the colder months. If I'm conducting work, attending meetings or giving a brief I obviously wear a suit which kind of stands to reason. but it just amazes me how much in recent years the 'hoodie' has been affiliated with yob culture I'm sure that we've all come across scroat bags who do wear hoodies and cause trouble but to assume that everyone that wears one is a scroat and about to rob you at gunpoint is a bit obsurd So part of the experiment was to determine what kind of reception I got when browsing in shops, chilling in coffee shops and generally going about my daily business and my God are the British public prejudice. I ventured into a prestigious watch shop in Hereford town centre and the look that I got was unreal. The shop assistant looked down her nose at me as soon as I walked in as if I was something that had been dragged up through the gutter. The look on her face was a picture when the owner; who'd I'd bought a rather special limited edition Omega from just the year before recognised me after I elequently asked if they had an example of new model that I saw down at Cribbs Causeway, incidentally our children actually go to the same school.... I'm not entirely sure if it's when they realise that you're not intending to rob the place or when they realise that you've got some money to spend that they suddenly don't see the hoodie and all of a sudden it's 'best friends time' Some shops I suppose are just really snooty or maybe the media have just gone overboard on highlighting the menace that is 'the hoodie wearing yobs of today'

Tuscan hunting
Simply due to the hot environment in which the head to head took place Hot air (higher charge temps) + 4 turbos = significantly slower Veyron than if it were driven in cooler climate McLaren F1 (NA) = faster off the line

For everyone who has read the SHERRGAR thread
Wherever possible I always try to self source parts that I need and have found that dealing directly with the suppliers rather than going through a 3rd party (in whatever country) is easier. In my experience it usually works out cheaper and also avoids any unecessary conflict if there's a problem or unexpected delay. If you build up a good relationship with the supplier over a number of transactions you can be a bit necky and ask for a small discount.
-
am I being rippped off?.. you decide.
You paid by card (unauthorised as far as I can tell) and you still don't have the parts.....contact your credit card company for advice as it may just be a case of them cancelling the transaction

American Cars
Sorry mate but wheel spin, wheel spin, wheel spin......traction.....and eventual 'front lift' does not equate to plenty of grip? with less than half the power the Shelby GT500 version that was test driven by the Stig spun up on launch and flapped about the Top Gear test track like a Geordie Shore bird in a bed hopping marathon quick clip of the Shelby 1000

American Cars
I'd want at least 335's on the rear, I haven't read the full article but I'd guess that it doesn't have too much in the way of traction control/launch control and those rear tyres look way too narrow Stunning motor though

Rear arms and hicas eliminater trial run :)
It'll be interesting to see how the Zcentre kit holds up compared to DW and Japspeed. If a lot of R&D has gone into them and there's been no compromise in the quality of materials used during production and if the welds are good etc then they would appear to be a nice little investment (especially if they cost less which is fantastic news) however if they're just a cheaper out sourced poor clone of the other brands mentioned then genuinely, good luck mate

One for the sporty/fitness types.
Fitness regime aside, if you want to achieve what I think you want to achieve then you have to adjust your diet You have to eat clean mate and the Friday, Saturday and Sunday 'odd' beer and pizza has to be canned. If anybody says otherwise then they are talking complete horse shit bud, the old 'I can eat what I want as long as I train hard enough to burn it off' is complete *****cks. Shit in = Shit out, eat clean and eat religiously, this is as much psychological as it is physical and there will be days that really test you. Not that I have ever been a heavy drinker but I haven't touched a drop of alcohol for 4 months now. I have always trained hard and lived an extremely healthy but demanding lifestyle. However I found that after a routine change and an increase in training intensity and tempo I hit the wall 2 weeks ago (a short bout of flu at the time didn't help either). I was advised that (1) I wasn't eating nearly enough and (2) I had to stop pushing and give my body time to recover, and reduce to just a few light bag and weight sessions a week, with the ocassional 1 hr steady paced run and (3) just to be mindful of the age factor at 33 years of age it shouldn't be a problem but it's been a hard paper round and some people live a harder life than others This has helped (especially with regards to energy levels) and I can only put this down to my eating clean, 5 times a day and not pushing my body too hard, too fast. There's a wall there for a reason and if you continuously push through it you can do some long term damage. I still say that you should sit down with your trainer friend and draft a 6-18 month programme (nutrition and training) and don't be in too much of a hurry to get your body looking like a Greek God, if you do push too hard and too fast you'll be too ****ed to benefit from it

BGT tonite
Come on, she's 16 and has another 10-15 years before her voice fully matures. Her vocal in this perfromance was overpowered by the lads but you have to consider that this is live on stage, in a large venue with piss poor accustics, and in my opinion the young girl did extremely well and vocally I'd liken her to a young Sarah Brightman, she isn't a 40 a day Charlotte Church anyway.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nl9WMIPzd6w The lads vocal was blinding though and he'll do well as long as he can get over his nervousness. I predict a nice Disney'esque element to their next few performances and I'm actually looking forward to it For those that missed it:

not really a teck question
It'll only lead to vigilante cars.....as Ford have demonstrated in this video and if we don't make a stand now, just look at the liberties the little fookers' will take http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hx7lrzlzYzE

not really a teck question
or get yourself an elephant and let that sit on their bonnet, that'll teach them to keep their moggy under control

This movie looks like it could be interesting....
I've seen the reviews and they've said that the 'acting' was terrible I watched the trailor and I can categorically state that they are exactly like every single Navy Seal that I have ever encountered So I can only conclude that the guys in this film are shit at 'acting like actors'
-
not really a teck question
well there's only one answer then shit can the air rifle idea.....a supressed 9mm, 3 bin bags and a shovel should do the trick....one small bin bag for the cat and two larger ones for your neighbours job done!

All played by badged Navy Seals no doubt laced with McP's macho pro US'ness, but still looks pretty good....

Crap comedians
We had a private function the other year with Jim Davidson, Jimmy Carr and Jethro all doing about half hour each and Jethro was absolutely fookin' hilarious. Easily the funniest to see live because he comes across as the kind of guy that you'd meet up with down the pub every Friday evening for a few pints. The majority of everyday people can relate to his real world gags, very much like Peter Kay's material in the early days (for the Northern sense of humour at least).

Insurance help please
Just out of interest mate, what 'mods' are Footman James happy to cover on a classic policy?
-
Insurance help please
Same here (95) plate import TT, hell Lynbrook even quoted me £207 fully comp for my '96 Toyota Granvia van, and that's hardly on par with MG's and Triumphs as far as classic cars are concerned

check your fuel lines guys.
I always used to carry a little extinguisher behind the drivers seat but it's coming to the end of it's life now, so needs replacing I need to sort this one out and get it plumbed in I'm surprised that new cars don't have these fitted as standard to be honest
-
check your fuel lines guys.
and that's why a plumbed in fire extinguisher system is a good investment!
