  1. Ahh yeah, I see what's going on there.....
  2. Here's my dilemma I'm steering towards replacing the rear knuckles on the shortie' with Driftworks Geomaster 2's, this will mean that I can wrap on trying to beat the old OEM balljoints/bushes. The whole setup would then be brand new. The problem that I have is this, despite the DW website stating that they will fit a Z32 I had my doubts, so I did a bit more investigating. This is what the DW shop states in the Q&A section: Product Questions: Q: Will this Race Hub Knuckle kit work on a Z32 TT? A: Rears will, fronts won't As it turns out they will fit but only on the proviso that you cut the bottom forks off the coilover and weld on a bush or a rose joint!! Nice of them to say before you shell out over 400 notes eh... anyway, what I was thinking was that rather than chop up and weld the rear Z32 teins that I have, maybe it would be easier to just source a pair of S14 teins for the rear, which will already have the bush/rose joint as standard Here's an example of an s14 rear tein: and here's a pic of the DW Geomaster2's: before I go buying more bits, can anybody see any issues that I may have overlooked here?
  3. Strange as all SWB are import?
  4. I paid £194 fully comp last year (Lynbrook) for a SWB TT manual, and got a quote last week from them for my '96 Toyota Granvia camper conversion only £203 fully comp, with all mods declared. Believe it or not Lynbrook offer a special camper type insurance aswell as classic insurance and the Granvia met the criteria.
  5. I've taken to it with the grinder now and most of it has come away now, though I'm still struggling to get the inner piece out I'm considering just giving up on this and replacing the stock hubs with DW Geomaster2's
  6. That is very true. The other factor to consider is the physical activity and environment that you are working in, for example a 6000 calorie high carb and very high fat intake would seem obsurd as the ideal nutritional programme, however when working in sub arctic conditions that is exactly what the body needs. Likewise a 6000 calorie, high complex carb intake is ideal for working a high intensity day in an extremely hot and humid environment. Whereas a lot less calories and certainly a lot less carbs and fat are required for exactly the same activity when undertaken in a temperate environment. Each individual requires different nutrients in differing quantities in order to effectively carry out any given array of activity under a variety of environmental conditions. It is very difficult in certain cases for 'experts' to deviate from their beliefs and advise to the contrary that in certain circumstances a high carb/high fat diet is actually the healthier path to travel. That's not to say that a dietry programme such as above is good for the body over prolonged periods but it is a vital necessity in certain circumstances. For yourself, if you're content that your diet doesn't require a source of additional protein in the form of a whey protein powder, then that is great news but I personally wouldn't dismiss it. I've trained with and without and for me there was a noticeable difference in my recovery time and energy levels post rest day. Now let's go and get some of those buffalo steroids injected into your eyelids and say no more about it
  7. Can this not all just be done via CC'd e-mails now? If you all make up/get along/kiss and cuddle or agree to all go your seperate ways then so be it. Here we have 5-6 strong minded characters who all clearly feel agrieved and who all feel that they have personally suffered character assasinations by third parties. I dare say that everyone concerned has a valid point but come on all, nobody (well I certainly don't) want to view this tit for tat horse shit any more. Please for the sake of my sanity, take this elsewhere as it's not doing anybody any favours when potential new club members (who don't know the full history) come on these forums and see the moderators and personalities of influance bickering (it's not bickering but I'm sure you know what I mean) Let's get this gone for now and when everyone has/or has not come to an understanding of where each other stands, then and only then come back on and explain to the rest of us how great the relationships are (or if not just leave it) Just my 2p worth, but you're all doing my nut at the moment Pez
  8. I'd like to sit down and speak with your doctor and dietician and ask them to explain their reasoning on that one to me. Especially when considering that a good protein supplement is exactly that, a means of getting additional 'good' protein into your body on top of the regular sources that you aquire through a well balanced diet. A good whey protein powder will aid in recovery and is vital to any nutrition programme if undertaking a from of activity/exercise that places increased amounts of strain on the bodies recovery abilities. If your training programme was relatively tame (ie. a half hour bimble around the block) then yes, protein supplements are pretty pointless as you'll recieve all that you require from a well balanced diet, however if you are undertaking more intensive training then additional porotein that is easily absorbed into your body is an essential part of recovery. If you're cycling/swimming for long periods then I would suggest that your body needs more, and you will not want the added side effects of getting the additional protein from 'upping' your regular food intake due to the unwanted additional fats etc. If you want a second opinion, drop this guy and email, he's my personal trainer and from the same background as myself so we're already singing off the same song sheet. 9. I think they're making reference to when a zed is running big power figures or for track use - 600bhp and throws a rod on track - 600bhp and melts a piston - 700+bhp and owner accepts that it needs a full engine rebuild after 3,000miles as a matter of course Genuine big power (700+bhp) VG's just don't exist (or a very rare) in the UK so not surprising that they're not seen to be overheating that often. It's like with any car, as long as it's driven in the manner that it was intended and every vital component is operating effectively, then you shouldn't have too many dramas hower...when you try to take it on track when underbonnet temperatures start to rise considerably through inefficient airflow and/or melting of the wiring loom, then you're going to have dramas clearly I think Bob has taken every pre-caution now to make sure that his is ready for TA this year, so hopefully his will prove that it is possible as long as certain precautions are taken with regards to additional cooling and protection from contact/overheating. and rocket Ronnies was putting down around 1000bhp and giving some full on abuse at TOTB, therefore routine engine re-builds are an accepted part of the game in the same way as drag cars requiring re-builds after 10-15 launches etc. I'm sure, that his block would have needed to be re-built several times throughout the year.
  10. Yeah I do like that film, and watched it with the mrs last night. It's one of the few on my shortlist that don't make me cringe. Regarding our own courses, the Royal Marine Commando Sniper course makes the Army Sniper course seem like a walk in the park. It's the same with regards to the USMC Recon Scout Sniper Course when compared to the several US Army Sniper courses, in fact it's pretty common for instructors from the UK RMC Sniper course to attend the USMC Scout Sniper course as guests and vice versa. The Lympstone course is also the course of choice for the majority of international exchange badged snipers and instructors from across the globe, including most SF units. You missed out on a treat there mate, but no dramas as you could probably still enlist into the TA/RMR and still get some courses under your belt if that's what you wanted to do
  11. Buy a Skyline GTR :whistling:
  12. Building new is always going to cost a lot regardless of whether it's an RB or a VG, however for a guy on a budget, a genuine 700+bhp RB is a lot easier to come by in the UK than a genuine 700+bhp VG. My appologies in advance for going off on a tangeant here but I'm factoring in more than simple component costs in this RB vs VG debate If you want to mitigate against possible future catastrphic engine failure (therefore additional cost), statistically there are more RB specialists in the UK who have built 700+bhp RB's to a tried, tested and proven specification than equivelent specialists that have built un-proven performance VG's. Then of course there's the associated costs of component change/fitment (engine in/engine out) each and every friggin' time. The fact remains that the zed community, especially here in the UK, are in their infancy when it comes to building performance engines compared to the equivelent Skyline/Supra/RX7 communities respectively, and therefore there is a lot more risk (and therefore associated potential costs) to pushing the VG's boundaries. I am fairly content that I could go onto GTROC or Skyline Owners Club and source an already built, substantial 'proven' RB engine far easier (and cheaper) than I could here or on any of the 300 forums. I'm not saying that there aren't a handful of half built, dorment or simply canned performance VG projects that are now on the sideline for one reason or another, which in thoery at least could push big figures but at what cost? I'm simply suggesting that component costs aside, I'd be far more comfortable in the knowledge that RB Motorsports, Abbey Motorsports or TR Racing etc had built and put their name to a performance RB build that I was considering buying (simply because it's been done time and time again), rather than theoretically sound VG performance build to an experimental specification, that is to date un-proven. I'd be interested to see how many 'I'm considering putting a VG in my GTR' threads have appeared on GTROC over the years (though I'm sure there's one somewhere)? Like I say, my appologies for digressing into associated costs but it's all relavent in my view
  13. Send Dino (japan dyno) an email mate (include a picture/dimensions) clearly saying what it is that you are looking for, he's pretty good at finding rare little bits. On Tuesday I asked him to source some bits direct from Blitz in Japan and he sorted it within 24hrs bekris.dino@gmail.com
  14. 'YOU' would probably get sued for that in the States....due to the madness that is the US legal system
  15. granted, but for a relatively measley sum of money a nice T78/T88 single conversion would make it all better http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NHOf3s70w-c
  16. My point exactly. So when you consider that cost is a huge factor, an RB swap is the more economically viable option for power gains. Even when factoring in the usual RB vs VG 17%-69% 'debatable facts' it still doesn't change the one major fact that the RB is the cheaper option when gunning for bigger power gains on a lesser budget (***Note I haven't said that it's cheap or that the RB is bulletproof***) I refer back to Abbey's comment to myself, that £ per pony the RB is the better option, however if you're not intending on going above 550-600bhp then the point of an RB conversion not being worthwhile is valid.
  17. Please excuse my bluntness, no offence intended but.....what a complete pile of horse shit £ per pony/$ per pony.....in the words of Abbey Motorsport now please continue with the same old Wikipedia 17% yada, yada debate that's been had several times over the years (not to mention the JZ argument thrown in for good measure) back to the original post....do it mate but factor in height/length/box/adaptor and overall cost etc etc
  18. Could have been so much worse mate, if it had been stolen in South Wales it most likely would have ended up dumped and burnt out somewhere up in the valleys
  19. Yep, it's on a stand. Cheers mate
  20. How long did that all take, from truck rocking up with zed on the back to owner driving the zed out of the door?
  21. Is there a top tip for removing the crank pulley, when the engine is removed from the car (ie. does it have to be locked off somehow?). I've had dramas removing mine and so I've just left it.
  22. My sister inlaw is an accountant and works from home, she's self employed now. Her clients from her previous job remained with her after she left the firm.
  23. Two can play that game mate....next time the Police drive passed and look in, ram them off the road, drag them out of their car and give them a kicking! Ooh'er....meds are wearing off again....
