  1. I've dropped mine 3 times mate, it's awkward tho, but i just jacked her up about 18 inches and put the front on axel stands, the auto box is proper heavy tho, but i'm only a weakling and i removed mine myself in a few hours when i did my manual conversion... :-)
  2. Let us know how ya get on pal, I'm thinking of doing the same, I have the plenum off, but my dett. sensor is relocated, thinking of putting it back where it lives whilst I have access......
  3. I have EXACTLY the same 2 problems mate! Let us know how you get on buddy, mine is in my garage anyways, awaiting a new loom, so best time to do it, mine was the same with my auto box, and after the conversion to yes yes oh yay manual, so must be the cluster....
  4. normally behind the speedo assembly mate
  5. I've just bought one off them, came to 263 quid delivered, i haven't got it yet tho, only ordered it a few days ago, I keep hearing potential horror stories about postal strikes tho :-O
  6. not sure what that hole is mate, but this may be of some help to ya.... http://www.pexcom.com.au/z32cms/e107_plugins/content/content.php?content.275
  7. The flywheels are different, and you'll need to bash out the old pilot bushing and pop in a new one, only about a tenner i think... Also, the bell housing bolts are different lengths, you may have all that tho, i don't know... http://www.zcar.com/forums/read/3/1291249/1291249#msg-1291249 Might be of some use to ya matey...
  8. I did mine last week, straight forward really, you just gotta keep waggling it till you find what's holding it, and there will be a few hard to spot rubber pipes holding it, keep waggling and you'll find em, having another person there is a massive help, me and my Dad got mine off in about 2 hours, although i did cut one pipe, but doing the water bypass anyways, so no big deal...
  9. Aye, thought as much, I'll take the bulb out...... Cheers....
  10. Hi, I have recently finished my manual conversion, and the power light flashes (i haven't counted them) about 10-15 times when i start the engine, then goes out. I'm presuming that light is obsolete now, since the conversion, and it's flashing because it's missing one of the sensors from the auto box. Take the bulb out?
  11. the paint on your car is 19 years old tho, may have faded, if you can find an auto paint shop, you can take your petrol flap in, and they use a spectral analyzer thingy mabobby and match it, and mix you up a can, might even be cheaper than halfrauds as they are skanks.... Just a thought matey....
  12. Have a look at page 16, 'Tie Rod', bottom left, looks like you will just need to change those, but if that is what you need to change, make sure you mark the thread as you'll have to un-screw it, and get it back in the same place, as your tracking will be out.... HTH. http://www.300zx.co.uk/cgi-bin/manual.cgi?list=st&dir=&config=&refresh=&direction=forward&scale=0&cycle=off&slide=16&design=default&total=98
  13. Are you mechanically minded? Not a massive job I wouldn't have thought, although I've never done it personally, this might help, and the next few pages might help ya too.... Someone on here who has done it will be here soon to help ya out a bit more, i think the only awkward bit would be cracking the universal joint, and maybe rusted bolts and that.... HTH... http://www.300zx.co.uk/cgi-bin/manual.cgi?list=st&dir=&config=&refresh=&direction=forward&scale=0&cycle=off&slide=14&design=default&total=98
  14. It's a can of worms really, some people will say are pointless, and infact can be detrimental to the engine, some will say they benefit it, and some just like the sound they make! If ya like the noise then get em is what i say, personally i do, might get me some! :-)
  15. do you mean the track rods? one either end of the rack, going to each wheel?
  16. I got a yellow car, so gonna paint em yellow me thinks!
  17. For future reference matey.... http://www.300zx.co.uk/cgi-bin/manual.cgi
  18. Crank pulley is 218-226 Nm, and flywheel bolts are 83-93 Nm mate, HTH....
  19. you'll find it all in the online manual matey... http://www.300zx.co.uk/cgi-bin/manual.cgi
  20. I just received a letter from the cops saying all my charges were dropped, they basically were trying to do me for drink driving after a crash, but was I arrested 4 hours after the crash, I'd had the car recovered, no-one else involved, etc. and had a couple of whiskeys when i got home. 8 hours in a cell and 1 and a half in the interview room, load of pish, did nothing wrong but everything right, but with the coppers it's all about statistics and not justice, they were trying so hard to do me. Been on bail for 10 weeks, not been able to afford insurance as i had possible convictions pending, etc. etc... Basically, the moral of this story is coppers are turds. Sorry for the thread hijack buddy :-)
  21. careful tho mate, make sure you definitely agree on 30 quid, cos if it is such a ball ache, could try and bung some more on if it takes em ages to do, just a thought matey.....
  22. run a diagnostic, if ya get 34 then it's the dett. sensor, i personally think it is, may have to re-locate a new one to the top of the plenum if you can't repair the wires, or you could bypass it....
  23. I'm planning to replace my wiring loom, i have done a manual conversion, should i buy a manual or automatic loom? Will it matter? Also, who can i buy one from in the UK? And roughly how much? Cheers....... Tudor.
  24. Anyone know how much a new one is? I've got the plenum off, and mine is on it's way out, so thinking of replacing it, digressing a bit, but the alarm is spliced into it, so guess i'm gonna have to dump it, as i've no idea what is connected to what....... Tudor...
