  1. It's at the bottom left if your looking at it from the front, changing it i have no idea, i've always seperated it from the engine when lifting it, as it seemed easier than disconnecting it :-O
  2. I've been trying to find one on here for ages! Gutted! :-) Haha, cookie crumbles :-) Hope it sorts ya problem mate........
  3. These are the plenum to head brackets mentioned earlier, number 5 in the picture, they hold the sides of the plenum tho the heads, i would think you have these on, otherwise lifting by the plenum is a bad idea as it's only attached in the middle other than these brackets... I lifted mine out using some seat belt but much stronger type stuff, and threaded it through the various 'ribs' of the plenum... HTH mate, stick at it, you'll suss it pal! :duffer:
  4. I would imagine it would be fine mate for half a mile, as long as you don't see any coppers on route :-) Might run a bit crappy-ish tho.... If I'm wrong tho, hopefully someone will correct me!!!!
  5. I'm pulling the plenum off today, just wondering, what else would you recommend doing whilst I've got it off? And are there any walkthroughs for em? Cheers geezers....
  6. I think he meant the spring teeth on the pressure plate.... As above, thrust bearing....
  7. You fill it up on the side, and it's full when it overflows and no more will go in, bit of a ball ache, but ya can buy a special jobby to do it, i used a washing up liquid bottle with a tube on the end, took me ages!!!
  8. i would say that's ya VVT solenoid mate with the gausey/clothey stuff round it
  9. excellent stuff mate, enjoy! just hope i can get mine sorted before ye olde winter kicks in!
  10. Underneath of the plenum actually, one either side :)
  11. Yeah, have checked that too, set it correctly :-(
  12. The electronic timing is fine, calibrated it with a strobe, was slightly out, and mechanical timing is fine I'm sure, I fitted the belt ;-) It's almost as if it's running on 5, but not as bad as that, a bit too much vibration i think, should be smoother, but it's not on 5, unplugging each coil packs drops a cylinder out. It's annoying as I don't know anyone else who has a Zed, and never ever see any at all around this way, and I have nothing to compare it to... Ah well, the search will continue!
  13. Well, makes sense, that is pretty much the only thing I haven't changed! And missing is a symptom... Anyone got a working spare they wanna lend us, will buy it if it cures it?
  14. will check tomorrow matey, cheers, keep em coming guys!
  15. Right, this has been going on for a long long time now, have a miss-fire which i just can't shift... New plugs, cleaned all connectors, checked and corrected timing, replaced coil packs, replaced almost every vac/fuel pipe, plus many other general tidy/renewing type things... Revs fine when not under load, but, think it isn't as smooth as it should be, and when driving, put ya foot down, all noise no go, (just fitted new clutch too, not slipping) no torque and pathetic at low revs, and misses/back fires, so i'm ok that it's fuelling, seems to be a spark issue... Also tho, does seem to behave a bit better afetr about 3500 revs, when the engine gets a bit of momentum behind it... All cylinders are sparking nicely, until you put a load on it. Checked the ECU connector, that is where i am thinking the problem could lie. All I had to do was touch the connector with my finger progressively harder, but not very hard at all really, and it would drop down to 5, 4, 3 cylinders, stop... The loom has been butchered a bit, guessing it's where the alarm was fitted, have neatened most of it up, and fettled the plug, and now can waggle the ECU or whatever and no change what-so-ever, but, still misses under load, and also the ECU is pristine inside, no dry joints etc.... Getting a little frustrated now, will never get to my wits end, love the car, just wish I'd had it drive-able in the 2 years I've had it! (Have been working away a bit, and done full engine re-build and manwell conversion, plus fixed countless botched jobs on her, so not all bad) Any suggestions? Only thing I haven't changed really is the PTU, don't really think it's that tho, does it when the engine is cold/hot, temp makes no difference, oh, and also, no error codes, 55.......... ANY help at all is much much appreciated, sort this out then MOT and daily drive time, massively overdue and greatly anticipated! I'm wondering if conzult could tell me something, but i haven't got it, can't drive the car, and not aware of anyone with it any where near me! Cheers guys, apologies for the essay :-)
  16. Mine had the odoemeter super glued so it wouldn't turn when i bought it! God knows what it had done, all brand spank now tho, so doesn't really matter :-)
  17. I'm one of the mis-believers then ;-) Will fettle it back tomorrow, hahaha....
  18. As above, but if they both open the same, but not 100%, there is a stopper in the middle, which can be easily fettled to allow them to open slightly more, mine didn't open 100% so I just bent it ever so slightly and now they do, but needed to very slightly adjust the throttle cable too, easy job tho, I'll see if I can find some pics...
  19. Well when i bought the car, there was a whole blown in one of the pistons, rebore and 6 new pistons needed, plus shagged turbo from bits of metal gettin sucked in, maybe had something to do with it, or the last owner abused her :mac1:
