  1. Mine used to work fine, up until 60mph, then drop to zero, so I changed the kph/mph converter for one I had lying about, it now works fine up until 80mph, then drops to nothing, which is strange, the fact the fault is different, so I'm going to do the live feed fettled as mentioned above, sounds logical... Also, if I accelerate hard, with either converter it would drop to zero before it would get to 60/80, so again, sounds like the live feed from the screw at the back of the speedo isn't quite juicy enough, if that doesn't cure it, I shall have a look at the speed sensor...
  2. Princeking, whereabouts are you? Might be close to me, only know of a few zeds round here, never seen one tho!
  3. The wax side of things is as wax seals it, if any of the solvents that should evaporate as part of the curing process get trapped, you can end up with blemishes etc....
  4. Right then, here ya go! My laptop has been at my Dad's since using conzult, and typing on my phone makes me angry...! So, I put in 0.8mms, and no different, still 'apparently' boosting at 9.5psi, according to my gauge, so, I went over everything with a fine toothed comb, deleted every boost pipe that wasn't needed and blanked off obsolete stuff, so the vac/boost system is as simple as possible, then found that the hose going to my boost gauge had collapsed and flattened, so I replaced that too. Went for a test drive, but still the same, so, I put her on conzult, again, and it came up dett. sensor, code 34, hmmmm, seemed to be very intermittently and occasionally dropping into a kind of saftey boost, but still hitting 9.5psi but no higher, hmmm, anyways, I found a couple of breaks in the dett. sensor loom, so I repaired it, popped down the road with 0.8s in, put my foot down in 1st, and basically didn't move, just span up and hit 20 psi (only for less than a second tho), so I turned around and came straight home, swapped them for 1mms, back out for a spin, hey presto, 15psi! By this time it was getting towards the time I was lending her to my dad, so I only went round the block. He got a few hundred yards down the road, safety boost (although now showing 7ish psi since I sorted out the pipe to the boost gauge), I took her out last night, same thing happened to me... Found another more than likely break in the dett. sensor loom, so made a nice, new, shiny new screened dett. sensor loom, fine for about 10 miles, the safety boost AGAIN (I have the dett. sensor relocated to the top of the plenum, and it is NOT detting), so, I bypassed the dett. sensor with the old 1 meg resistor, and all seems to be shit hot now, goes like stink! Been a royal pain in the arse, but got there in the end, but since the fettling, my tick over is now too low, almost to the point of wanting to cut out when I slow down at a junction, but that can be easily sorted... Hope it was worth the wait, it was for me, been a pain in the nuts, as it was a rather queer problem, as my gauge was telling me duff information, and it was still rapid, sure it was stock, not safety, as the last few times it dropped into safety boost, it was slower than the 9.5 psi, all strange, but sorted now :) (Now you know why I didn't want to write this on my phone!)...
  5. 1.1mm, hence the 11 in the plug number...
  6. You can, just tape a couple of standard plumbers smoke matches to the inside of your leak tester bung, light them, shove it in, wait a few seconds then pressurise away...
  7. Sorted it, on my phone at the mo, will update tomorrow :)
  8. Gonna check for boost leaks shortly, pretty confident there is none tho, also sure its not in safety boost, as is boosts constantly at 9'5 psi and no error codes, and have installed them correctly, but will triple check all pipes, and will simplify them further, but already has a very simplified pipe system, really got me scratching my head, I re-built the entire engine, fitting boost jets is easier than scratching my balls, but no joy! Cheers, will report back in a bit...
  9. I'm with Jimmer, I hate the things, I can't fathom people who say 'Oooh, I love my cat', why? It doesn't give a rats arse about you. Pointless nasty evil destructive creatures. Every time I've ever been near one I've ended up bleeding, so now I just gently move them away from me with my right foot. I'd be seriously dis-chuffed if one scratched my zed.
  10. they aren't hex/allens, they are 1/2 inch squares, so any 1/2 inch ratchet/breaker bar will do, but be sure to undo the filler before you drain it, as if you drain it then cannot undo the filler for whatever reason, your fooked...
  11. She's not mate, she's with me  Did you completely remove the egr valve? Just looked it up, and doesn't seem to run off vacuum, jut a solenoid, but if ou did remove it, have you tried just plugging the connector bag on the egr valve, see if it makes any difference?
  12. :2guns:  Have you tried searching for cat repellents? I wouldn't know where to start, as I hate cats, so I've never owned one, not even any point having a word with the neighbours, as you can't train a cat to do anything, so there's nothing they can really do, other than euthanasia. You could offer to pay for it? :)
  13. I am looking to go down the TT/NA rear route, was just wondering if anybody might be interested in my rear end (ooh err missus)... I'll be selling it, after asking around, looking for £150, seems reasonable to me due to the condition and new ball joints etc. Plus if you change yours for this, (not a massive job, it's just pretty heavy all together), it's an ideal time to change you probably coroded brake pipes (as I did)... Standard TT, without suspension/brakes, but all lovely and clean and painted, and new inner and outer HICAS ball joints, done less than 300 miles since fitted back on the car, would be handy for someone with crackered ball joints, plus it's all painted and clean... It's still on the car at the mo, but just seeing if anyone would be interested, and if I find an NA rear end soon, it'll be up for grabs... Here's some pics, not great, but gives you an idea... http://s935.photobucket.com/albums/ad199/jefftudor/Subframe/ Tudor...
  14. Ok, the latest.... Put 0.8s in, no different, so decided to investigate, turns out on the passenger side, the pipe from the intake that should go to the solenoid, was going to the plenum, and the pipe that should go to the intake (the solenoid) was going to the recirc, so I swapped them round, all is plumbed in correctly now, still the same 9.5 psi. Don't understand it....
  15. The egr runs from vacuum, have you bunged up the vacuum pipe too? Probably a thin rubber hose...
  16. I use a drumstick with gaffer tape, but on the zed, I have a jack handle, which is thinner one end so it can go inside another jack handle, perfect size to fit in the spiggot bearing, then gaffer tape around it for the friction plate, quite often if you buy a new clutch it will come with one, but not always...
  17. Holy shit, that is nasty. Instant death.
  18. I think so? Them 2 shiny metal silver ones under the back of the car? Will turf some .8s in in a couple of hours and report back... Only after 14 psi ish. Oh yeah, got a mines ecu and a receipt for fitting ecu and 1mms with the car but I changed all the pipes and wanted it stock after the rebuild...
  19. Not tried the 0.8s yet, but after doing some reading, 1mm should be about right really, but I'm still getting 9.5psi according to my aftermarket boost gauge, any other thoughts?
  20. Maybe? I bought a couple of them too, so ill bung them in and see what happens...
  21. I've bunged some 1mm mig tips in today, till I get some extra pennies for en EBC, engine is recently rebuilt, perfect health, timing spot on, throttle balance etc. all hunky dory, no boost leaks (well, not since I last tested), runs sweet as a nut, but, after putting the jets in, feels a little bit quicker, not a right lot tho, ticks over a little slower, and my boost gauge reads exactly the same (9/9.5psi), jets installed correctly etc... Any ideas? Cheers, Tudor...
  22. 19psi? What turbos are you running? You could be dropping in and out of safety boost (7 psi) if it isn't running right, didn't know you had a problem, just a mystery switch, tell us what's been going on...
  23. Hey keano, you know adam prescot dont ya, he told me about you, another zed so close eh? Should knock up a mini meet sometime before japfest mate... What work are you doing to it? Give us a shout if you need a hand to get her ready, im a mechanic, and I know zeds inside out... Not sure about tickets mark, have a gander on the japfest website...
