  1. what about this... definitely real! http://www.kontraband.com/show/show.asp?ID=2189&rtn=main-topten

his advice is to write a polite letter informing them of the facts, and respectfully request they retract the NIP. If you have a look on the website linked near the top there's some good advice, and if you're in the RAC they'll probably be kind enough to give you a draft letter. The usual problem is there's a backlog of data, but no real managment of it... problem being a high proportion of people would just accept the ticket, so it's not in the Police's interest to keep an eye on the 14 day rule (targets an all!) Good luck rich

My dad's a retired copper and they can prosecute any length of time after the offence, BUT they must notify you within 14 days of their intention to do so ny issuing a NIP (Notice of Intended Prosecution). There is an allowance for mail delays, the three days above, and allowances are made for difficulty in finding you - e.g. you moved house but didn't change details with DVLA etc Rich
  4. problem is the reason i took it off in the first place is cos it's rubbish - someone's bust the mountings so it doesn't disengage properly (usual story) which would mean getting a new pod... as noone's likely to sell the case separately = expensive way to get a switch! gonna see if i can modify one before i buy another and end up with the same problem! anyone? Rich
  5. I've lost my hazard switch while putting the dash back together, and need to rig one up for the mot on saturday... being rubbish with electrics, am i right in thinking I need a 10amp switch (since it's a 10amp fuse) or is it lower than that - to avoid blowing the fuse?!   and I have searched - but most people just put another in - but I'm determined to find mine!! thanks in advance! Rich
  6. Just got a new classic policy with Norton... 25 years old, kept on drive, full NCB, Fully comp, legal & breakdown - £450!!! (Paid over £700 third party in the past - as main car, so using my no-claims discount!) And they don't increase cost for basic mods (exhaust & intake). How about approaching Norton as the new official club insurer - surely the majority of us only need a second car policy?!? Rich
  7. sure this is the one that's been knocking round for months - after falling from an absurdly high price! Reg is **** PNH - IIRC Rich

Shouldn't make any difference - i set up MDaemon Mail Server with Outlook Clients where I used to work and swear the autoresponders are generated from the client computer (you can send instruction email to server to set up server-side responder on MDaemon though). Rich
  9. BBC labour affairs correspondent Stephen Cape said the problem was very complex and the FBU did not want a "knee-jerk" reaction he's obviously a ****er then... i think the solution is already at hand - water cannon: I did a day's training with an RAF Fire Crew once, and they demonstated the power of the hoses by shooting water (at low pressure) at us and knocking us a few feet back... full pelt in the face would soon discourage the twats!
  10. because it momentarily seals the leak... you'd need a fairly good idea where the leak is though as you need to spray slowly until you find the right point. rich
  11. cheaper option from everyone's favourite: http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=29968&TabID=1&source=15&WorldID=&doy=16m3 Rich
  12. looks like one of these: http://www.cableuniverse.co.uk/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=21_56&products_id=228 Rich
  13. where abouts in Chester are you bud?! You must be the guy who keeps causing me to get *****cked by the missus for driving without insurance (mine's off the road at the min...!) Rich
  14. Sounds like Air Flow Meter - runs in 'get you home' mode if there's a problem... disconnect battery, unplug AFM, clean connectors, reconnect, connect battery after (1/2 hour ithink!? to reset ECU - never been an issue for me cos I always end up leaving it disconnected for hours while I fix little bits I find!!) and it should be ok - although ECU will take a couple of hundred miles to 'relearn'. HTH Rich
  15. Strictly speaking, you shouldn't push start a car with cats... but to be honest who gives a f*** if they get broke - decent excuse to get rid!! Rich
  16. i'm sure a while back someone posted a link about 'beefing up' the springs - maybe worth a go if you don't fancy scarin old ladies every time you drive ;) rich
  17. Worth a try: take off your gearstick gaitor (if you've got a manual, don't know fek all about auto's!) and check that the rubber seal is still in place - mine wasn't... Another possibility is air con - turn it on full and blast it for a while - get all the stinkin condensation out! did the above and cured the smell on mine. HTH Rich
  18. and before the disagreements begin... http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=27649&highlight=reverse+lights+mot Rich
  19. As far as mot goes, reversing lights aren't testable items... Rich
  20. I got mine valued... but that's just what they will advertise it for - no sale, no cash!
  21. AFAIK you can return them in the engine bay, or fit NA Hydraulic pump... and free up some space! Rich
  22. there's loads of dodgy cartoons if you search around too...
  23. Doesn't do it 'properly' though... mixes up the signals to speed-sensitive equipment (eg HICAS). rich
  24. Guessing your reasons... trading standards may be a useful reference point... Only problem is apparently (think someone mentioned on here) there are tolerances for their storage tanks - i.e. if the tanker begins discharging into the wrong tank, they leave it in as long as it's below a set percentage - providing a pretty good get out clause if the station gets caught out! Rich
  25. We could just stick up a PDF for download - then everyone can print it off themselves... no cost to the club. I'd be willing to do it if anyone's got ideas what should go on it - images etc etc. rich
