    it needs de-restricting - do a search!!
  2. Which I'm very sure is true... BUT surely the data would be seriously comprimised by the fact that many women's accidents will be recorded as men's since the men are the policy holders (i.e. women are named drivers on their partners insurance)!!! Rich
  3. not gospel, but as far as I know you can relocate your cruise by extending the wiring for your switched... as for HICAS you'll need a proper boss to keep it working... to disable it you either pull the fuse (electronic) or short one of the Hicas Plugs... do a search for which fuse/ plug! OR, I think someone posted about how to modify a universal boss to retain HICAS... search is your friend! Rich
  4. http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=37745&highlight=fuse+mirrors SMW1 says where it is!! okay, that was lazy: 3 along on the top row, 10amp. hth Rich
  5. check and top up the fluid level - the light's going off when the fluid heats up and expands slightly. hth Rich
  6. My mate got turned down twice before being accepted - just reapply and you might get lucky... guess their requirements change all the time! Other possibility is to apply to a neighbouring force then put in for transfer after a year or two. Final option is to become black/ gay/ muslim etc etc and help them fill their quota!!  Rich
  7. Gotta make you think twice about cheap policies... imagine the trouble if you had to claim!! Not havin a pop or anything, cos I'd have a nightmare too I guess!! Just makes ya think! Rich
  8. Think MAC1 was selling a UK pair the other day - otherwise AndyZ in the traders section is usually good for parts. Gutted for ya mate, lets just hope that next time they do somethin like that the owner catches them and beats them to within an inch of their life! Good luck Rich
  9. and... 1 to arrange the obligatory group buy for 10+ of the light bulb/ lightbulb/ lamp which came out as the best!!
  10. never had any look with safari - have to reload all the time!! You should try FireFox... seems to be compatible with almost anything! Rich
  11. or, as he said, we could use it as a reminder of all those things to do on a regular basis - not a bible to live by... Rich
  12. From my experience (NatWest Commercial) special clearing - or whatever they now call it - is actually just posting the cheque by 1st class mail... when I did it, it never arrived so had to get cheque resent! banks = bunch of money-grabbing incompetent twats! (apologies to any bankers) Rich
  13. think you may struggle to reconnect it - I can't remember exactly where the switch is, but when I did my clutch I remember it was tight!! Soemone may know whether it's possible to reach from the top?? Other possibility I guess would be to put a new reverse switch in from above and re-wire? Just re-reading your post, it's strange that the lights come on at all... afaik it's a make or break switch - no relays or anything  Rich
  14. probably not... http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=50636&highlight=fse
  15. but you will need the whole subframe! Rich
  16. If he did you - put a complaint in to the PCA (Police Complaints Authority), explain how you were scared he was trying to force you off the road, sped up to get away etc etc... copy the letter to local rag and anyone else that will listen. If you were doin that to someone, you'd be lookin at dangerous drivin! Rich
  17. yep - stop using it, and you should be able to restore the files by putting the drive as a slave on another computer... if you're still stuck next week, I'd be happy to send you an 'evaluation' copy of some software (sure I've still got a copy at work!!) Rich
  18. it's actually not a modification! http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=37846&highlight=lock good luck - let us know how you get on, and I'm sure a lot more zeds will have working drivers door locks!!!! Rich
  19. Same problem on mine, haven't got round to fixing it yet (lean accross from pass side!!) but... JeffTT posted a 'how to...' modify the passenger side part to fit the drivers side - will see if I can find the link... Rich
  20. because it interferes with the speed signal (power steering is speed sensitive)... take off your instrument hood and disconnect it and see if it's any better - but remember your speedo will be kph!! HTH Rich
  21. it's murphy and the bricks!! there's even a song about it... The Sick Note (Murphy and the Bricks) Dear Sir, I write this note to you to tell you of my plight For at the time of writing, I'm not a pretty sight Me body is all black and blue, me face a deathly gray And I write this note to say why Murphy's not at work today. While working on the 14th floor, some bricks I had to clear But to toss them down from such a height was not a good idea The foreman wasn't very pleased, he is an awkward sod He said I'd have to cart them down the ladders in me hod. Now shifting all those bricks by hand it was so very slow So I hoisted up a barrel and secured a rope below But in me haste to do the job I was to blind to see That a barrel full of building bricks was heavier than me. And so when I untied the rope, the barrel fell like lead And clinging tightly to the rope, I started up instead I shot up like a rocket, till my dismay I found That half-way up I met the bloody barrel coming down. Now the barrel broke me shoulder, as to the ground it sped And when I reached the top, I banged the pulley with me head I clung on tightly numb with shock, from this almighty blow And the barrel spilled out half the bricks some 14 floors below. Now when these bricks had fallen from the barrel to the floor I then outweighed the barrel and so started down once more Still clinging tightly to the rope, me body wracked with pain And half way down I met the bloody barrel once again. Now the force of this collision half way down the office block Caused multiple abrasions and a nasty state of shock Still clinging tightly to the rope, I fell towards the ground And I landed on the broken bricks the barrel had scattered round. I lay there groaning on the ground, I thought I'd past the worst But the barrel hit the pulley wheel and then the bottom burst A shower of bricks rained down on me, I didn't have a hope As I lay there bleeding on the ground I let go of the bloody rope. Now, the barrel then being heavier, it started down once more It landed right across me as I lay there on the floor It broke three ribs and my left arm and I can only say I hope you'll understand why Murphy's not at work today. Another urban myth!! Rich
  22. Glad to get something right for once!! :hyper: And good luck with 'her' not finding out!! Rich
  23. I got an FM modulator from Maplin for about £20 and it's not bad... there is a slight hiss at zero volume (or just above!!) but it's pretty good at 'average listening volume' and above. Good thing with Maplin is they'll take it back!! Also know someone who's got an itrip - and the quality's about the same on that, but with the advantage of being portable. HTH Rich
  24. Could be a poor connection on the Air Flow Meter - when ECU detects a fault it goes into 'get you home mode' - restricts revs to 2500 and doesn't run 'right'... worth a check for a simple fix, and it wouldn;t be a bad thing to give the connectors a clean even if it isn;t that! Rich
  25. it's a hoax: http://www.hoax-slayer.com/mobile-phone-virus-hoax.html although there is some info about a real virus on there...!! Rich
