  1. drinks in office, then pub at one. SHARP! merry xmas everyone!
  2. Not actually zed related, but the theory should be the same... taking a friend's bmw 535 (straight 6) to a trackday on sat, but the exhaust is REALLY loud. Oulton Park's really strict on noise, so what's the best way to (temporarily) quieten it?? Has anyone tried the clamp on silenser they do at DEmon Tweeks?? Rich

take the missus to a busy pub for lunch and a few drinks (non- alcoholic for her), you get really pissed, and get barred. in the meantime, a load of scrotty kids are havin a whale of a time smashin up a local factory, before goin to mcdonalds and spendin the £20 some person they'd never seen b4 gave them. ain't justice great! Rich

If it's a big company, could try going higher and explaining your 'annoyance' - the risk of bad PR might make them shell out for the repairs as it's not likely to cost much. Age old threats of newspapers etc... "pregnant woman forced off road by ******** driver" Rich
  5. just unscrew it!!! You might find the 'nut' inside shears off, but you can remove it separatey!! hth Rich
  6. and while we're hassling you about what you can get... did you get my email?!?! ;)

exactly!! save fuel? by an na!!!!
  8. not too sure, but i'd be surprised if they don't use mandrel bent pipes - we did, but my mate got hold of them as a one off from a fabrication place he's been contracting at. the boxes i think were from demon tweeks, I'll have to check. He did weld it eventually, but only after driving it unwelded and checkin it wasn;t rattlin at all!!! I'll try and get all the spec off him Rich
  9. but it's gonna be as good as a powerflow!! That's basically all they do! also, just done this on a friends m535 (old one - e28) and it was up just over 10 bhp on the dyno last weekend! if it looks ok, performs ok and you're not too bothered about selling why not have a go?? Rich
  10. which isn't necessarily a good thing... nothing wrong with an engine occasionally getting pushed towards its limit; although there's a difference between this and 'raggin the t*ts off it'!!!!! Basically, nothing worse than a car which has been molly - coddled all it's life (in my experience anyway). You've got to remember, this is a performance car, and driving it fast but well should do no harm whatsoever as long as it's maintained to a good standard. Rich
  11. So a Japanese car may have been ragged, but lets face it most of the UK ones have been too! Considering the cost now, if you can get a rust free car which seems to have been well looked after and you are reasonably mechanical (or know someone who is) then nothing on the car's particularly sophisticated compared to say a modern ford engine which a 16 year old trainee mechanic is allowed to work on!!
  12.     it's just not fair!

wouldn't normally reply to someone who hasn't done a search ;) But this gets me up to a ton!!! Top up your powered steering fluid - job done. It expands enough once its warm to not trigger warning. Rich
  14. and the dog ate my homework...
  15. in FAQ's Rich
  16. are they standard?? cured mine by putting the shims, which someone had taken out, back in! Rich
  17. I thought only the Honda system tightened your turning cirle - Super HICAS just countersteers momentarily at high speed to improve turn in?? rich
  18. cheers for the fax paul, i'll go do battle now!! Rich
  19. hey mate!! It's a decent one who i've known for years, and is quite flexible.. just says he can let it through!! I'm thinkin of tryin the one under the arches this afternoon (a friend goes there nd NEVER fails!!) I keep meaning to drop off your PTU - hopefully tommmorrow if you're in?? Rich
  20. cheers mate 01244 401 933 rich
  21. having a nightmare with my headlights... they've said they're not emarked (obviously), and that there's no hotspot on the main beam So am i right that the e marking doesn't need to be on for an import? And, how can i adjust the beam to get a hotspot without one of their light boxes?? A couple of the adjusters are cracked , so it's a nightmare!! I've got to go back in an hour to argue it out!! Rich
  22. anyone on here at the moment know anything about MOT rules & regs?? Rich
  23. yeah, i'm planning to 'get in there' and do it properly - just had to be quick to get a free retest!
  24. I did find some instructions, but can't find the link now! Basically, If you do the passenger side first, the front corner nut is right on the corner of the headlight - your should be able to see it from the floor. Then take off the bottom three securing screws on the arch liner and reach above the expansion tank. This time it's a bolt. Again, you have to feel your way as it's a pretty tight fit!! In both cases they're the only 12mm nuts/ bolts you will be able to find. Driver's side is the same, but you'll have a better idea where the front one is (the expansion tank forces you in the right direction on passenger side!!) The inside ones are easy to see, but i foun the passenger side rear bolt to be an absolute tw*t - just couldn.t get near it. Ended up using stuby spaner and turning about 1/1000 turn each time i managed to get it on!! HTH Rich
  25. Do your sidelights stay on?? If they do... First thing to do is get soeone to switch dipped - full beam while you listen for relay click (relay box front passenger side of engine bay). If there's no click - relay fooked, or possibly fuse gone. If it is the bulb, it takes standars H1's, but it would probably be worth shelling out for PIAA super bright jobbies!! Replacing main beam is fiddly but not difficult. HTH Rich
