im new to the 300zx i have a 200sx at the moment but would love to get the 300. But as a newbiee i dont no much, well actually anything about these beasts.

 

Are they reliable ?

 

Are there many problems with the turbos, as i would expect that they are quite expensive to fix?

 

What sort of speeds 0-60 could i expect from a non-turb?

If you are wanting speed, the Nont-Turbo is not for you. The 0-60 of a NA is about 7 seconds

you need a turbo or you will get fed up and want more power in the end. and if you buy a turbo you will still want more power:D ask tony c or macca or smw. you just cant help yourself:D

i was after a skyline but looking for vaule for money found the 300zx better. i got a auto jap 300zx after selling the sunny lol!!!

and love it to bits the power is mad.

parts for the cars are fairly cheap and tuning parts are easy to get.

had mine on the rollers and pushed out 332 bhp and thats not many mods.

also this site is the best place to get advice and info on the zed.

Well speaking from the perspective of having both non turbo and turbo in the family so to speak.

 

I let the wife drive the turbo, as she doesn't feel the need to use the power!! If I did I'd be in a ditch somewhere this weather, ludicrous speed is the best way to describe the TT. On the motorway the other night already doing about 80, I floored it to overtake something and when the boost kicked in, the F***ing thing stepped out at the back at about 90 FFS!!

 

So, if you can't resist hammering it, you'd better buy a non turbo, you'll stay alive longer!!

i have had a twin turbo for a few months now and every time i drive it i get a huge grin on my face watching mega expensive so called performance machinery dissapear in the rear view mirror every time i floor it .........they are an absolute hooligan of a car and they are first turn of the key reliable , they can potter around town at 30 no problem all day and then pick up their skirts and sprint to the horizon when needed

 

parts to tune are relatively cheap except that two are normally required ( intercoolerS ) (turboS) (blow off valveS) gearboxes are normally bullet proof but i would recomend using a high grade racing gearbox oil it makes life so much easier on the quick down changes in a manual car

 

go for it mate you will not regret it

Nice one mate ,,,but, becareful ,,,with the "z"s, you get what you pay for ,,if its cheap it probably is and it won`t be after you have spent out putting it right,,,,Ebey may not be the place to buy from on the other hand if you do ,,gather all the info you can ,,,and definantly test drive first ,but you would anyway,,,,there are some good cars around at the moment ,,,a silver z manual conversion was on here ,,that seemed genuine buy,,,,,,,there is a buyers guide some where ,,,i can`t remember,,,,,,,any one?
