  1. I believe the VN/A doesn't have HICAS so converting it will be very expensive/time consuming hence not worth the cost or effort. I acually like the HICAS on my TT but some say it is better without. If you have an N/A then I wouldn't bother retro fitting it..... Richard :)
  2. A popular myth I think.......(although some may say J-sec lights are not so good) ......my UK spec lights were fine when I bought the car. Just get them properly adjusted and fit decent bulbs (NOT crappy "max power" blue ones, just Osram +30% super H3s will be great) and they will work well. The inside of the lenses can get dirty, reducing light output but you can clean them. I actually did the H3 HID conversion for around £200 - I have to say even though the lights were more than adequate before that they are fekking EXCELLENT now!!! Richard
  3. UK spec (tt) limited to 155mph (I have had mine to 157 on GPS thingy - if it weren't restricted it would have gone faster no doubt........) J-spec limited to 112mph but if converted to MPH then usually the resriction is removed so 180mph could be possible. N/A would probably not see much more than 145 though as whilst torque is needed for acceleration, you really need more bhp to push top speed and counter act wind resistance. Richard :)
  4. As everyone above says, they are not unreliable or particularly expensive to run if you buy a well looked after example and take care of it properly once you own it. I've had my UK spec TT auto for almost 4 years now, at one point I was driving 50+ miles a day in it (for around 4 months). It is a second car now but I still use it for holidays, wherein I can cover 1500 miles in a week. It has not let me down in that time. Parts can be expensive if something goes wrong plus these cars are so well built that even a minor repair can involve removing half the engine/trim/etc ;) The only regular expensive bit is the appetite for fuel and rear tyres..... Richard :)
  5. Oh and Hi to Jay! Not seen you on here in a while, how are things mate? Richard :)
  6. Welcome to the club Dave! A 94-spec UK car, nice! The late UK cars are pretty rare now... If it's a good one that has been looked after there is no reason why it should let you down. I've had mine (91 uk spec auto) 3-4 years now and it has not let me down, from 62-87k miles. It is relegated to a weekend toy now but I was driving it 50 miles a day for a fair few months before buying a daily driver. I also take it on holiday, even driving up to 1500 miles in a week (which does use a fair bit of Shell's finest ;) ) the ZX does exactly what it should  Just keep it properly maintained and don't scrimp on poor quality parts etc and it should be fine - it is a Nissan afterall. Sure you will read some horror stories here but then very few people post to say their cars are running perfectly, do they...... (unless they want to sell it ;) ) Enjoy it, they are great cars. Richard :)
  7. It'd be a great time for the enemy to invade. After all, everyone is busy getting fat on rich food, sliding down chimneys and wearing sweaters 3 sizes too big...... Seriously though I like the build up from early-mid December (not September as the shops would have us do  ). It's always a nice atmosphere in the week leading up to Christmas but as for the day itself, it's pretty dull so I just live through it. I'm not a Christian myself so I really couldn't give a crap for the whole thing (December 21st has more significance to me ;) ) but although I think the Jesus thing is rubbish I still respect the meaning it has for others. Nice to have a couple of weeks off work though and New Year means going on a short holiday, enjoying a dinner/booze/fireworks etc at a hotel. Richard  PS Bah Humbug ;)
  8. Especially the tits at the end  Richard :p
  9. UPDATE..... .....it wasn't passed  ;)
  10. Very good.......... .......then there was the prostitute who went into hospital to have her appendix removed. Unfortunately after the op they stiched up the wrong hole. Now she makes her money on the side.....  Richard :slap:
  11. MX5 all the way  MGF is a piece of junk - after all it's a Rover ;) Richard
  12. No you are right!!! In his 1st budget old Brown scrapped the "rolling 25 years" exemption so no further cars became exempt from payment. I remember it well as I had a 1973 Jag at the time and I still had to pay  Richard ;)
  13. It depends on your company policy. Legally your employer only has to pay you for 4 weeks annual leave or statutory sick pay after the 1st 3 days of an illness. Any other absence and there is no legal obligation for your employer to pay anything unless your employment contract says otherwise. Most contracts nowadays specify that sickness, jury service etc are "at the employer's discretion." You can get out of it. Just get your employer to write the court a letter saying they can't release you; this will either postpone it for a short time or indefinately as they may never ask again. I got called up 15 years ago, I put it off about 5 times then I had to give them a date I could make. Loved doing it though - really interesting! Richard
  14. Ditto here :) I have read that if HIDs are factory fit then you do need a levelling and wash system. However retro-fit HID systems do not need to meet these requirements at present. As for your electrical problem, I believe the ballast pack needs high power to start-up then the electrical consumption is minimal. I have a UK spec car with the "dim dip." I haven't disabled it for the HIDs but needless to say when I switch on the lights to position 1, only the side lights come on as there is not sufficient power to spark-up the ballast packs and light the headlights. Richard
  15. What he said........ .....except for top speed of course, where more BHP will help  Richard
  16. Another suggestion...... Rain-X (those chaps that make the rain repellant that actually works...... :p ) do another product called "anti fog" for the inside of your screen. Does exactly what it says on the tin  Richard :)
  17. Can't you just switch to "economy" with the demister? I have never tried that as I leave the a/c on permanently anyway. Also I thought the a/c temporarily switches itself off when you floor the accelerator....? Richard :)
  18. I'd still ask why bother, the Z32 TT engine is 280-300bhp stock??
  19. Exactly! They use the same switch - I wired in front fogs to my UK car and put a small rocker switch on top of the right hand pod.... Richard :)
  20. ..........But you won't find a nice one for £10k, just a high mileage worn out example IMO. How about a Volvo C70 T5? You'll find a very decent one for £10k - reliable and fast plus not too common either. For a bit more class how about a Merc 320clk? Perhaps a bit less rare than the Volvo though..... Richard
  21. If so I have a question before I call someone out...... Any ideas why my central heating works fine upstairs but I can't seem to get the radiators downstairs hot... I have the thermostat in the living room set to 20, but it's cold in all downstairs rooms whilst the bedrooms are baking. I have tried bleeding the rads but it makes no difference. Oh, and the rads have no individual controls either (I must get some fitted), but for now what is the best position for the controls - I assume the "in" side should be almost fully open but what about the "out" side? Thanks in advance ;) Richard :D
  22. 36 years old, UK spec TT auto...... .....just paid Heritage £300 FC (classic policy) for my insurance this year Richard ;)
  23. I agree totally - he is very gifted musically but there's something not right in his head :nono: Richard
