NEC 2016 - Bring your Zed
What's clear from this thread is that we are all passionate about our cars and what we perceive as the zenith of 300zx potential. As Graham mentioned above we have 17 "yes I would" votes (at the present count); so we certainly have a fair selection from which to chose for this year's exhibition! And as Craig has mentioned, we are all up for putting the selection to the public vote; as and when (1) we have secured our plot and (2) we know exactly how many cars we can exhibit. Until then, we cannot make any guaranteed decisions. Dan (and apologies for not re-quoting your whole post), you have made the very point that concerned me when this thread was originally posted - it might very well look a mess at the moment. Just as I feared; if we have 100 members posting, the chances are, we may well get 100 conflicting opinions! However as Lexx has pointed out, whilst there may only be a few of us on committee, it is our job to restore order to the chaos..... And rest assured, we will; once we know about plot allocation etc etc... So I shall personally ask, please, don't withdraw your car. You have already won the members' vote for COTY - so by default, you would be given an automatic pass onto the stand! Modified or OEM; as many people have said above, what ultimately matters for a show like the NEC, is that the cars are of the highest standard. As a club, we want to promote interest in the 300zx Z32; along with our club, as the UK's dedicated place for 300zx owners. The vision is clear - and from our members, all we ask is for a little help to do that on the world stage each November! So to reiterate, if anyone has a 300zx of very high standard; and they would like to show it to c65,000 visitors; AND can dedicate their car (and hopefully their time) from 9am on Thursday 10/11/16 through to 6pm on Sunday 13/11/16, then please register your interest on this thread....!! NEC 2016 - Bring your Zed
Chris mate, no-one from the committee has said "OEM only" and the whole idea of this thread is just to gauge interest in who would be willing and able to exhibit at the NEC. No-one has said either, that the committee will decide who is in or out - albeit we might wield the balancing votes, in the event that a public poll yields no outright winners. Nothing has been decided yet. What is certain though, it that we'll be lucky to secure a stand big enough to accommodate anymore than 4-5 cars; we'll not be told of our entry details until May. And note the word "told;" we request a plot, put forward our requirements but the organisers make all the decisions and offer what they can. We have no further choice - hence the need for a tight selection process involving cars of the highest standard. I repeat, the highest standard - there's nothing to stop modified cars from being involved. Can we please keep this thread/poll on topic. Everyone will have their chance to comment further once we begin the selection process - after we have secured a stand:wink: Thanks!

NEC 2016 - Bring your Zed
And to add further comment, without wanting to take this thread away from the original question - what Gaz says above re another Coventry show, is what we are thinking as the club's major event for 2016 instead of JAE. It will be open to all; and with the additional option of an overnight stay and meal together on the Saturday night..... We'll make the enquiries and post a poll for everybody's input shortly:wink: We'll do the NEC show as a finale to the year - and in our continued effort to promote the Z32 and the club. We'd like to have a big stand, but in all probability, we'll be lucky to get one suitable for 5 cars. So we have to manage expectations accordingly!

Scooby Clinic in big trouble !!
Disgusting behaviour.... And it's equally prevalent in the very high-end sector. I know of someone who recently purchased a brand new £199k super-coupe; whilst it was back at the main dealers, one of their clowns took it on a "test drive" which resulted in 2 speeding tickets issued on that same day. The fookers then tried to deny it was them..... ...Needless to say, the disgruntled owner told the dealership, in no uncertain words, to collect the car and take it straight back; purchase cancelled. Hell, besides wanting to tear them a new one, I'd be on the phone to trading standards, watch-dog, the daily mail and everyone else who cared to listen.....

2 show stand spaces available at Modfest 2016
Sounds good Chris - I'm sure you'll have no trouble securing 2 more fine cars from the club....:clover: It's not quite my area - and I don't think I have anything planned a month hence - but I'm happy to go on the "reserve" list if you get no firm commitments; or if someone drops out. Richard:cool:

NEC 2016 - Bring your Zed
I would...... ......But do not think my Zed is good enough for the standard required..... Not to mention, I'd probably not be able to commit myself or my car for the duration... ....So it's no from me... But we need to know potentially, who would; as I have to book our place by March - and state with certainty how big a stand we will require.

What did you do to your zed today?
Fitted my new battery...... ......I had a chat with the guys at Euro Car Parts regarding their listing; and the terminals being the wrong way round. They did some investigating and came up with an Exide jobbie, same size and spec as the one they offered yesterday, but with the correct set-up. £68 with a 4 year guarantee - that'll do nicely! I then had to re-program all the settings on my stereo/NAV unit.... Damn you Kenwood, can't you come up with something to save my pre-sets, EQ settings and NAV preferences.... Richard:cool:

Snow!
We had about 2 inches of snow fall overnight - and it's still on the ground at the moment.....! The road itself looks clear enough to drive; although having said I would take the Zed out today, I think I'll leave it in the garage...... Because it's still shiny and clean and I want it to stay that way a little longer...

What did you do to your zed today?
It was a nice sunny morning so I thought I'd take my Zed out of the garage for the first time in a month.... ......The battery was flat, but no problem; I keep a "booster" battery in the garage, to help with such issues. So 2 minutes later and away I went! I also thought it was about time to buy a new battery - the old one has been showing its age for the last 2 years - but could I find one over the counter? Well, yes, in theory; but in practice, no! Halfords (£85), Allparts (£72) and Euro Car Parts in High Wycombe all allegedly had one on their shelves..... However each one had the terminals round the wrong way - and there's no give in the cables to stretch and fit... Looks like it will have to be a mail order jobby..... ....Still, I thoroughly enjoyed the drive - and will no doubt take the Zed if we head out for the day tomorrow. It's full of Shell's finest and ready to go.... Richard:cool:

Jae 2016 poll
It's a no from me..... OK, I might be on holiday at the time - but even if I wasn't, it is with regret that I'd still probably not go. I would only pop along for the Saturday - to meet up with everyone I have gotten to know over the years and to do my bit for the club. However with the vastly increased entry price, coupled with having to pay for the whole weekend even for just a day, it's just not worth it to stand around in a field for a few hours! Give me the type of show like Beaulieu and I'd be there; it does not matter so much about the admission charge, it's just a much better event to be part of! Richard

Where does our membership money go?
You are not the only one thinking that Dean! The event has changed, moved venue, and for 2016 the ticket price has suddenly shot up. Hence we will be putting it to the members' vote any day now, as to how we support JAE; and whether we do move away from JAE being the club's big event of the year. Watch this space....
