  1. LOL - that was nearly 4 years ago mate..... Now I'm getting older, I have trouble remembering things from 4 minutes ago....
  2. Similar story to me Craig..... .....A week after passing my test, a dopey bint doing her make-up in the rear view mirror smashed right into the back of me! I replaced it with another Cav Mk1 1600GL; which lasted a few months before a drunk driver swerved across the road in front of me. That's when I moved onto the coupes and then the Manta in quick succession. I stayed loyal to GM for a while; having 2 Mk2 Cavalier 1.8 SRis.... Until splashing out on the mighty 1988 Astra 2.0 GTE - just 6 months old - before I reached 19. Heaven knows how I managed to insure it back then....
  3. A sad loss indeed. Mandy had great spirit and it was a pleasure to have met her via this club..... RIP Mandy; and here's to her proud moment winning the award at Coventry in 2014....:flowers:
  4. Ahhh, the Opel version of the Mk1 Cavalier that I started with!!! After which I graduated onto the sport hatch, coupe and then the Manta:cool:
  5. Many happy returns Alan - have a great day mate! Richard:happybday:
  6. Mine was a 1976 Mk1 Vauxhall Cavalier 1.6 GL in red..... .....Granted, it was back in 1987 - but it was RWD with Rostyle-type wheels and I loved it....
  7. That's the spirit Dean...... ......With the meet on Sunday, we figured this could suit a lot of people who didn't fancy the drive to Coventry on Sunday morning. Drive up Saturday afternoon/evening; check into the hotel, join us all for a meal and a few beers, wander off to bed and then take a leisurely drive to Millennium Place in the morning! Plus, you can bring your other half along as well..... I look forward to meeting you after all this time. Richard:cool:
  8. Nice one Jeff - I was never a fan of the "6" until the V10 M6 arrived....... Another modern classic in the making there matey; enjoy your new toy... Richard:cool:
  9. Many happy returns Allan - have a great day mate!! Richard:happybday:
  10. You know, having thought a bit more, what's really the most important number in the 370z Nismo argument....? Price! It has a £10k premium over the "normal" 370z - which makes it utterly pointless, given the almost identical performance. Good or bad, depending on your opinion, the latest generation Zed in "normal" guise comes in at c£27.5k new - that's not so bad for a 326bhp RWD sports coupe. Not enough to make me buy one, though....!
  11. Yup - that's more like it for the rear; with 235/40/18 on the front to complement.....
  12. That is probably fair to say - although it is also certainly true that the Z32 can still acquit itself so well after 20-odd years! And I hate to say it, but I'd reckon my SLK is faster than my Zed in a 0-100 mph drag. Again it's got a significant advantage in years and miles under its belt. Plus modern auto transmissions have really improved, to the point they are now often quite a bit faster than their manual counterparts. And back to that Nismo, one last thought..... It's circa £38k new - a Z32 was around £36k new back in 1994.... What's that in today's money:wink:
  13. Happy birthday Lee - have a good one mate! Richard:happybday:
  14. Happy birthday Joel - have a great day mate!! Richard:happybday:
  15. You're dead right there Steve; I like the Golf R too and would have one over the Nismo as well.... Albeit they are a different class. The Golf remains the ultimate hot hatch; whilst the 370 is a sports coupe - hence my selection of direct rivals! And I agree again, I can indeed see why the 370 is not selling in vast numbers - for the money, I'd go for any of the German opposition:wink:
  16. I don't know mate - there's probably not much sub-£38k (brand new) with almost 350bhp. Audi TTS, BMW Z4 35is, Mercedes SLK350 and Porsche Boxster/Cayman come in at nearer £40k or more; and they (mostly) put out a little over 300bhp. Very similar performance to the Nismo though; but they all offer better fuel economy and lower emissions - hence MUCH cheaper road tax!!
  17. Craig+2, attending meet, hotel Booked via Craig, family room, yes RichardSmith+1, attending meet, hotel Booked via Craig, double room, yes
  18. Looks good in white - I'm yet to see a Nismo model though..... I prefer the 370 to the 350; although I'm not so sure I'd buy one. Even the Nismo!
  19. Thank you for your continued support Bri - and Joel....... PS I've updated your colours Bri....
  20. Cheers Richie - thank you for your continued support mate!
  21. Nice one Dave - thank you for your support mate!
  22. I quite like the idea - it's another take on updating the stock panels...... And with a little work, it could be made to look damn good on an OEM-ish car....
  23. Many happy returns Andy - have a great day mate!! Richard:happybday:
