  1. A belated happy birthday Ash - hope you had a great day mate! Richard:happybday:
  2. Congratulations Tom - and all the best to your wife and family mate...:clover:
  3. Welcome back Dave....! ....And whereabouts in Oxfordshire have you moved to mate....
  4. Hi and welcome Darren.... .....And that's a tidy looking Zed you have there!! Richard:cool:
  5. LOL - just how small does the MR2 look, compared to the Supra and 300zx...... ......What a wee, narrow, little thing it is....
  6. A very happy 50th birthday Gray - hope you have a great day mate!! Richard:happybday::thumbup: PS Where's Gaz when you need him..... Almost missed Gray's big 5-0...!!
  7. I have read that too...... I like the Supra - and that blue one Mondo was working on, fantastic interior Si.... But it has not aged as well as the 300zx. I know we're a little biased, but the classic wedge of the Zed has remained timeless. Mk4 Supra, stock for stock, would out perform a 300zx TT; the UK spec cars had 326bhp and would crack 0-100mph in a little over 12 seconds. Great handling too - although a little too "clinical" in my opinion. I was set to replace my last Mk3 Supra with the Mk4 back in 2003 - until I found the 300zx...
  8. So sorry to hear that James.... I hope your injuries heal quickly mate - it could have been a lot worse. And it's sad to see another good Zed lost; although if it were me, I'm not sure I would want it back (except to salvage some of the parts). You can always get yourself another. Haggle with the insurance company too mate; don't just accept their first or second offer - these cars are going up in value now...:clover:
  9. Your car is looking fantastic there Coops.....:bow: Me? As it was sunny this morning, I took the Zed on my visit to Sainsbury's...... Then put it back into the garage when I got home. I was debating whether to replace the front brake pads myself, or book it into my local garage in the week. And, simple as it might be, I just can't be bothered with DIY mechanic work; so garage it is... But I wasn't so lacking in motivation for car-related things - as I washed my SLK and gave it a coat of Valet Pro Beading Marvellous wax.... I can highly recommend the stuff!! Richard:cool:
  10. My advice - don't! Stick with the OEM pump. QH (Quentin Hazel, for the uninitiated - a long established manufacturer) do indeed make quality parts. However I remember JeffTT posting a thread about after-market water pumps; and some have a much smaller impeller than the original. Hence there's no way it would shift the same volume of water as it pumps..... And since a properly functioning cooling system is vital for these cars, I would always advise people to go with the Nissan part. It's barely anymore expensive than most pattern items - and Mike at MJP will supply one, if you can't get it from Nissan. Richard:cool:
  11. Yup - seconded..... .....And you still have your black LWB, so it's not so sad a day....:cool:
  12. Hi and welcome (back....) Adam...! Richard:cool:
  13. Hi and welcome to the club.....
  14. Thanks for your continued support mate! Richard:thumbup:
  15. That's my view also...... ...Both have their advantages and disadvantages; the main disadvantage being it's a 25 year old design auto 'box. In a modern car, particularly one of high performance, a stick-shift is an analogue relic in a digital world. Fact! All decent high performance cars are autos nowadays - and, if they do come with a manual 'box, the manual version is without doubt slower. Just check out the big hitters from Audi, BMW and Mercedes! ......But back to the Zed, if the auto is working as it should, keep it. I have driven both versions and, whilst I am in no doubt that the manual is best on a track or an empty, twisty road; in real world traffic conditions (assuming you use it for more than the odd Sunday morning blast), then the auto has its benefits as well.
  16. After a 300 mile round trip to Cardiff last weekend - and then using the Zed all week because I could not be arsed to move the SLK out of the garage - it was looking a little dirty. So I have just given it a good wash and popped it back in the garage once more... And just for the hell of it, here's a couple of pics of my Zed outside our hotel.....
  17. Happy birthday Gary - have a great day mate! Richard:happybday:
  18. A couple of my favourite songs from Prince, who sadly passed away this week.... ......RIP sir... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pnAuf391O08 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xNh_UgxjsB8 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u6KpC1e2A1k https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xFUZd7Hlpx8
  19. Me too mate! Also, as a testament to her remarkable reign, I would love to see HM top 70 years as Monarch; setting a record that would probably never be exceeded....
  20. Just because........ I had owned a couple of Mk3 Supras and was looking to move on. I was impressed with the Mk4 Supra in every way - apart from the fact that, whatever way you look at it, it's just so damned fugly...:nono: The 3000gt, whilst also ahead of its time, simply could not pull off the 0-100mph sprint as quick as its rivals; owing to its excess lardiness. Plus, like the Mk4 Soop, it proved to date very quickly; with its scoops, ducts and spoilers. Then I looked at the grand-daddy of all 1990s GT cars - the mighty Porsche 928s4. The 300zx was also on my radar - because its simple, clean, wedge shape looked the most timeless. And it was good value in comparison to the aforementioned; but above all, after driving one, it simply won me over. It felt better conceived than the Supra and 3000gt and like the 928, it had a soul - sure the Supra is faster (in 326bhp UK spec, certainly), but that felt cold and clinical. The 300zx interior felt like an updated version of the 928; the 300zx, I still think, is better looking than the 928. It's every bit as quick (let's not forget that Nissan's test drivers lapped the 'Ring faster than Porsche's could in the 928gt back in the day!!); and, whilst I'd have gone for the big V8 porker in a heartbeat, the Zed was half the price but all of the car and more. And the 300zx still has "it" today. It as aged gracefully in comparison to its peers; purely down to those clean lines. Nissan got this car's design right, straight from the factory 27 years ago - who'd have thought that, from a mainstream Japanese manufacturer?
  21. Yup - what Andrew said..... I'm keeping my HICAS..... .......And electric aerial too, even though I also have DAB and use a little plastic aerial on the windscreen...
  22. Nice one Paul - thanks for your continued support..... ....And fantastic pic of your Zed there mate...
  23. Well put Gary... The knighthood is in the mail, I reckon.... Many happy returns indeed, Your Majesty....
  24. RIP indeed...... 2016 is turning out a very bad year for celebrity losses.....
