  1. Hi and welcome James - and good luck with the new toy!! Richard:cool:
  2. Good luck in your search Allan..... I like the S3 too and I'm sure you'll find the right one mate...:clover:
  3. I've had my blue one 6 or 7 years - I think I bought it from PhilP in August 2009...... .....It had 69,000m on the clock then, I have just passed 101,000m and it's still going strong....
  4. Really mate? They are still finishing in the top three of pretty much all the motoring press's tyre tests...!! I have not tried the Conti Sport Contact 6 yet, but can highly recommend the CSC 5. They are OEM fitting on my SLK350 and are doing a pretty good job on the Zed too.... Pirellis are supposedly back to form - but the top three in pretty much all comparisons seems to be (in no particular order) Conti / Goodyear / Michelin. All of the premium brands will be more than up to the job, in all honesty - just avoid the cheapo nasty tyres. Don't forget those 4 little patches of rubber are all that holds you to the road - in all conditions - at all speeds. Don't scrimp on tyres as one day your life might depend on it!!
  5. Hi and welcome to the club Graeme..... Richard:thumbup:
  6. Hi and (finally) welcome to the club Simon...... Good luck with your new toy...:clover: Richard:thumbup:
  7. Hi and (at last) welcome Simon.....
  8. Good luck Ian - I hope it all goes smoothly for you mate....:flowers::clover: Richard
  9. Yup - I agree..... But back to the plot, the blue Zed has never been a daily driver and lives in my garage. But I have (except for January 2013) always kept it taxed and insured all year round; as I just cannot resist taking it out for a spin when the mood catches me. We took it down to Bath last Sunday - and I could not be asked to move the cars around when we got home.... So I will just use it until Saturday. Hell, it's dirty already so I'll clean it then, if it's dry, and pop it back inside until after we get back from Cornwall in the New Year!! Richard:cool:
  10. Any old Sierras knocking around....... ......For more performance, how about an old nail of a Jag or Merc? Pretty sure you can pick up a usable example of either, certainly with galactic mileage (ex-taxi E or S class?) for that money. Failing that, and back with the Beemers, how about an old 5-series? Remember the TG challenge when JC had that 5-series estate - that thing was bullet proof!!
  11. Thanks guys.... As I couldn't be asked to move the cars around when we got home, I think I might just use Zeddy for the rest of the week..... Hell, it would be rude not to:wink: Fingers crossed for a dry Saturday though - so I can give it a nice wash and wax before Christmas...
  12. I took mine on a little 200 mile round trip..... .....To visit the Bath Christmas Market. M4 was nice and quiet, so we got down nice and early and started with a very civilised breakfast of eggs royal in the Pump Room, before strolling around the city. Bought a few bits, then back in the Zed before the rush, for a healthy blast home. The Zed is looking a wee bit grimy now though... Richard
  13. Another sweeping assumption mate... Some of us have owned and/or driven some pretty fast machinery......!! But like you say, perhaps most cars you have been in feel slow - so it certainly comes down to what you are comparing it with! A stock ZX is certainly not "slow" in comparison to most "normal" cars - although I will concede that a few of today's big engine turbo diesels (EG BMW 335d, 535d; Merc C/E/CLS 350 cdi) could certainly give one a run for its money, once on the move. But they are not "slow" cars either.
  14. I'd do that too..... Like everyone else, I don't condone parking in disabled bays. But just like you Art, I'd never do it intentionally. Use the photos, reiterate the darkness and rain and appeal. If it was not 100% obvious, then the authorities cannot bring a case against you. And if you vehemently stick to your guns, chances are, they won't take you to court as it will cost them far more than the fine they would hope to recover from it! Richard:clover:
  15. Many happy returns Chris - have a great day mate! Richard:happybday:
  16. Many happy returns Noel - have a great day mate! Richard:happybday:
  17. Good to hear from you (on here) Jane..... ATB Richard:flowers:
  18. I saw Morrison's in High Wycombe selling unleaded this morning at £0.99 - with diesel at £1.02 per litre.... I didn't fill up there, but with Morrison's competing with Asda, it does mean that the nearby Shell and BP stations in the area will be cheap as well. Not quite the same prices as Jeff is enjoying though; but still, it's a step in the right direction...
  19. Depends what you're comparing it to Dan... It is slow next to (say) a McLaren; but is still faster than most "ordinary" cars - so to simply say "it is a slow car" will have pretty much everyone disagreeing with you mate!! Anyway, back to Dave's post.... Gio went from a TT manual to a NA auto. His latest one is a very fine late-spec car indeed  It's good to see you're coming back to Zed ownership Dave....
  20. Nice example....
  21. I have seen an e-mail from Simon on my club in-box. I have replied, and hopefully we can fix his access ASAP! Richard:cool:
  22. Many happy returns mate! Richard:happybday:
  23. Hi and welcome to the club Matt - and good luck with your new toy! Richard:thumbup:
  24. Welcome back Lee - and good luck with the new purchase mate...
  25. Many happy returns Steve - I hope you have a great day mate! Richard:cool::happybday:
