  1. Hello Chaps Just need abit of info on the cooling for the autobox fluid, the car is a jspec. As far as i now there is no specific oil cooler for the fluid, is has a feed going through the rad, please correct me if iam wrong. how is the fluid pumped to the"cooling coils" by what means???? and just out of interest, if say there was some kind of restriction in flow i take it, this could cause the box fluid to overheat and boil, if not what else could cause significantly increased temperatures to the autobox fluid. Cheers Dutchy.
  2. its a bit of a bugger the first time, did my first one last week, theres lots to move out the way, but be patient and you'll do it, its also a good idea to keep every thing tagged or marked, or definitely now what connector is what and where it goes to. If you do take it of, by pass the water pipes under the plenum, fairly easy job. Cant really help you with the ecu codes fella, If its how it reads and the injector is infact leaking then you,ll have to have them out. good luck
  3. Hello all Right then, really need to get my passenger side turbo out for inspection, think it is fooked, well convinced its fooked, can i get it out with the engine in, I now that you'll probably all say i need the engine out but dont really have the gear to do it, managed to get the egr out with the engine in so i suppose anythings possible right, so my question is really can it be done, i have patience and time on my side so no problem there, if it is possible will i need and " round the corner" tools to help me out. Cheers for any advice Dutchy.
  4. Ok then chaps, whats the best way to tackle this, cleaned the plenum up abit but would really like to chincey it up abit, or is it that ive gotta do an american chopper and "send it to the chromer" ?? Cheers in advance.
  5. agreed, although takin the plenum of is a bit of a pig, specially if you havent done it before, if you do have the plenum of then be sure to take pics methodically to refer back to, as you end up with pipes and connectors all over the shop.
  6. PTU= power transister unit, a new series II one will cost about £120.
  7. oh yes the pine needles, i got moss and alsorts growing from mine, i'm half expecting to find david bellamy in the boot at some point
  8. Happy days, really should get my eyes tested, 5p eh, i'll have to check my stash of useless foreign coins, got some vanuatu dollars somewhere, you can get an island over there for a tenner, one of those little rascals must be the same size as a 5p.
  9. ahhh the squeeking returns, check all the bushes on the front suspension, my pet sqeek turned out to be the gaskets that go in the top shock mounts at the front, a little metal to metal contact and its squeeky time, it drove me insane for weeks. As you can see i'm not yet recovered.
  10. its a pain in the bum to get the foam one off, and it leaves the back looking poor, so quite abit of cleaning to do, not sure but think the 99spec is raised slightly so you'll need the perpsex strip to cover the gap where the foam one was. Knowing these cars id be suprised if it locates to the same holes, that would be far to easy for the nissan designers. Sure someone will be able to clarify this for ya.
  11. Bloody hell, Cant believe those have failed like that, the powertrix ones are good. Just thank urself lucky you didnt have an accident, probably worth haveing a good look at the lower arms where the tension rods bolt through, they can crack. When you change them, do the other side first, set the new ones to the same length as the old by putting the bolts through and locating the new one to the same length, try to keep the ammount on thread showing each side of the adjusting nut the same, and make sure the collars are tight. Only other thing is that the tqo through bolts have a slightly different diameter, so make sure they go back as they were, its not a huge difference but alligning the third link holes up with upper arm can be a pain as you need to apply quite abit of pressure to hold it in place while you knock the bolt through.
  12. 50p!!! dunno if i can afford that, right then, so this is what i need to do, cut the pipes back where the plenum locates onto below the flange then weld the flanges over and refit to the bottom of the plenum, The pipes which i have cut i presume go to the manifold, where the old 50p trick is needed, then remove the egr valve and the bits at the back, then what do i need to do?????? sorry just wanna get this straight before i do it, The aiv system first, then the carbon canister then the egr, that should tidy things up abit oh almost forgot the plenum by pass
  13. get urself in for the " plum crazy purple"
  14. ok i guess thats should be enough on the aiv front, lol
  15. Cheers for that link bud, very helpful indeed, still nothing soild on the egr front, maybe the next time someone does it they could do a write up, anyway thanks again chaps. oh i have a jwt chip in the ecu so i guess the aiv is going at the week end, then the carbon canister, then the egr, never liked the green party much anyway.
  16. Hello All Finally got the plenum off, bit off a pig, lots of pipes to renew now, right, as the plenum is off ive got wires and connectors and tubes all over the shop, lol. Now when i come to put the thing back on, its probably gonna be a nightmare.=, so was thinking of removing as much as i can to clean up the engine bay, so did a search a found a good one on the aiv removal, couple of questions, is it the same to do on a twin turbo, as the sticky is on a non turbo, and do i have to do anything with the ecu??? Secondly would really like to remove the egr system, done a search on it but theres nothing really conclusive on how to go about it, so if anyone has some pics or a good guide on the proceedure that would be great. Where the plenum locates on the egr tunes could i not just cut of the 5 cms of pipe and put a blank flange and gasket in there???? Cheers Dutchy.
  17. thanks guys, its off, Small screw on the coolant hose to the passenger side turbo, and a couple at the back drivers side, had to cut a couple of the hoses as just couldnt seem to get the buggers off. Anyways read about the egr removal and the aiv was it, is this worth doing, as at the moment im dreading putting the thing back on, so many hoses all overe the shop lol. Never mind gotta keep going till i get the head gaskets!!!!! Infact im might take the lot out, could really do with a look at the passenger side turbo.
  18. Just another thing, when i get this thiing off, is it worth doing the by pass, and could i rip the egr out???
  19. Hello all Asabove tried to get the plenum of today spent about 3 hours at it including compression test, anyways its pretty free but just wont come of, so looks like theres something else holding it, is there any sneaky screws i dont know about, coz after a while i threw the towel in. Also when taking the intake pipes of found the inside of the lower right hand side to have a bit of oil in it????
  20. do i get the pulsar ones from nissans?
  21. i dunno, ask retro, he seems to know all about it, lol
  22. oh and what size are the plugs on these, 16mm???
  23. How the hell do you get these of without knackering them, i can only get one off, lol the rest are stuck fast. any tricks i should no about. Cheers
  24. this post needs to be moved to the homo's forum
  25. sorry dude not really understanding what you mean, maybe it me. lol. Anyways, the engine check light will flash the codes at you, long flashes are the first digit, shorter flashes are the second, i.e. 2 flashes = number 2 and so forth.
