Brake question
thanks chaps, didnt think it would be necessary to change the shims and all, the ones i have are ebc greens, they have a shim with them, but its like an adhesive pad??? anyways so you dont think the pistons are knackered then, had a word with one of my friends, he says sometimes the sliders can become "sticky" rust, dirt etc...

Brake question
Just put new discs on the rear of my zed, preperation for mot as the cars been of the road now for a while, anyway doing the discs themselves was straight forward enough, i have to install new pads aswell, never tried this before, read a few guides on the proceedure, is it really necessary to replace all the shims etc.... can i not just slide the new pads in??? and also noticed that the inboard pads have less wear on them than the wheel side, are the pistons seized???? Oh and another thing anyone got BMC cap floating around?? cheers all.

Water Hose sizes ????????
Just a quick question Can anyone tell me the actual size of water hose I nee to do the plenum water bypass, it says 6mm somewhere, but theres no way 6mm internal diameter will go over the metal pipe to the turbo's. Seems more to me like 8mm or even 10mm i will need. Thanks Dutchy

:-( blown turbo
Take the engine out to get the turbo out, I spent hours trying to get the passy side out with the engine in, i did it in the end by spliting the tub, but that in itself was an arse of a job, so I wouldnt recommend it, mind you i did mine on the side of the road, with no proper lighting etc... if you can get it over a pit it would be easier, but never the less, If I have to do it again, I'll get someone to have the engine out for me.

Turbo Quickie
lol, thanks for that chaps. I know it will be easier with the engine out, but dont have the means to do that at present, plus I am away at sea at the moment so got a chance to fabricate lots of funky spanners to make the job easier if it can be made easier ofcourse. The plenum is off at the mo, so access is a little easier, its the inboard side of that bloody flange that was giving me the headache. anyways back in the uk next week so will see how it goes, oh and if infact i do end up with crazy paving all over the shop, cheers again.

£1000.00 Road Tax
i cant believe this, how can that possibly be justified, i'm getting abit fed up with the bloody tree huggers and there f*cking carbon footprints. If these f*ckers want to make a diiference to the environment then instead of making us pay for it, why dont they cough up abit, all new build houses bulit with solar panels, free energy saving light bulbs etc etc. And stop the bloody yanks controlling the oil supply coming from the middle east, ffs companies like shell employ and pay people like george bush senior millions to go to semminars and deny climate change or global warming even exists. Why is it that good ol engalnd is continously shit on from europe and the united states, ffs no other country would have the sort of issues we have with immigration, which in my oppinion is the net cause of most of these issues and the idiot socialists that think what they call the "middle class" which in this day seems to be anyone who has a job or it seems a car around 3000cc regardless of the value should be taxed to the f*cking hilt, never mind the damn hard work most people have put in to get something good in life. It makes me sick, it about bloody time that people had some balls and started to stand up and say what everyone else is thinking, but then offcource youd be a right wing extremist, what an absolute travisty, no wonder so many brits are leaving in hoards. And it looks at this rate I and thousands of others will be joining them.

Help Suspect Oil Leak in engine bay
certainly looks like it could be the rocker cover gasket to me, bit of a bummer to see in there properly. I doubt it would be the pcv hoses, shouldnt be that much oil in pcv system its only a breather, and if its been serviced really the pcv hoses should be done, as usually when you take them of especially the ones from the valves they split. If it is indeed the rocker cover gasket, then id suggest the old one went back on, or its been fitted incorrectly which is really quite difficult, or the cover bolts are to tight/slack.

Down Pipe And De Cats ?

Tippet noise on just imported TT
hello, fella, not sure what a tippet is?????? if its like a ticking noise your getting, then most probably its a sticking lifter, you say you changed the oil, do a few more miles with the new oil to let it clean some of the shite out. if still doesnt work then try some hydraulic lifter fluid, add it with the oil and drive for another good few miles. If it still doesnt clear it, might mean that the lifter is fooked, and thats a bummer of a job. if you do it yourself.

Plenum Bypass
Just a quick double check, I am right in thinking that the two pieces of hose go from the turbos up to the back of the engine and connect there, dont need the vac signle fro the egr as it being removed, which take off on the balance tube is the one i need to cap???

Let the bodging begin.
as already said, you definitely need to purchase an auto dark proper mask, it really does help, when i first started welding using an arc welder i'd tac something completely random as couldnt see where the end of the bloody rod was, anyway a steady hand and practise is all you need, if you are you gasless type, then you really need plenty of ventilation as the fumes are no good for you at all.
