  1. think thwe zcentre kit comes with full fitting instructions bud, pcv valves are a bit fiddly but a little patience and it can be done, i have zero patience so got swz to do mine, lol
  2. car is auto, just strange that the gauge worked fine before, no it doesnt even go to the mid point when the ignition goes on, its kinda difficult to tell what colour the smoke is, will have a look again tomorrow. Just had the box done at swz, thing is i thought the thing had failed again as was driving and got as rather nasty crunching failure sound, i suspected one turbo was on its way out as when you were driving and it comes on boost you could here like a sort of high pitch grinding sound. very slight but when you then let the foot of the accelerator it would stop. Anyways went to the car today and it selected gears no probs, i just couldnt believe it, not sure if final drive selects as didnt wanna push my luck. It does appear though that the box is getting excessively hot as got some smoking from the dip stick
  3. its the engine check light that flashes mate, when you turn the screw on the ecu anticlockwise, there is also a small led on the side of the ecu that will flash the codes for you, aalthough you gotta get yer head right in ther to see it
  4. oh dear oh dear oh dear, Right then, who can tell me if me turbo is fooked. only got the stock boost gauge, but upon turning on the ignition the needle no stays to the far left, and when i drive the car it doesnt move either, ecu is code 55. I think the off side one has gone. But is there a way i can really tell, apart from lack of power, got aload of smoke out the back when i rev the engine up, Regards Dave

  6. i take your point about the car producing water and it needind to be run to disipate, what would explain the steaming from the back of the engine bay??? read turbo coolant hose or matrix is around there. Well its going to SWZ next friday, so will let the chaps there find the prob
  7. Right started a different thread for this in hope of finding some answers, so the auto box is gone, now when i start, ive got water dripping from the exhaust pipes and steam possibly smoke from the rear of the engine bay. What could be causing this then????
  8. oh dear. warmed the car right up and, water droplets from the exhaust pipes, with alot of white smoke still, gets worse upon reving the car up, then smoke/steam form the back centre of the engine bay looking from the front of the car. Also have noticed very very slight mayonaising on the oil cap, but it is hardly noticable, engine holds temperature ok, doesnt appear to overheat. Is the head gasket on its way????

  11. Right then, when it rains it poors, just knackered my auto box, so deliberating whether to have it fixed or cut my looses and get the car scrapped. Anyway heres the thing, dont really mind having to pay out for another box to be put it in, but now i fear that somehow, maybe i have a turbo problem, when i start the car as i have been doing every other day, smoking a little on idle, but when i put the foot down and rev it a little, plenty of white smoke out the back. Is there any way i can tell for sure if i have a turbo problem, coz theres no point having the box redone or a man conv, if the tubs are knackered an all. Have no error codes on the ecu its 55. Oh the car has never done this before its only since the box went that it has started??? I dont really want to scrap the car but if turns out that i have turbos gone then i'll have to, the car is only a 1990 lwb 2+2 so i guess id have to cut my looses, although i must say this isnt really what i want, any advice would be greatly appreciated
  12. to reset the ecu, all you need to do is disconnect the battery for a good hour, it will reset and then go on self learn. Definitely clean up the coolant temp sensor its the yellow plug on the front of the engine. Also maybe worth cleaning the throttle bodies, fairly straight forward to do, get the relevant cleaner and a toothbrush, take of the pipes to the throttle bodies, wedge open the flaps and give em a good clean out. Ivehad this problem, but after doing all of the above, oh and doing a few tanks of fuelwitht some injector cleaner in, the problem has not come back.
  13. ok chaps, box is defo fooked, suppose it was justa matter of time. Anyway dont really wanna put another bloody auto box in, and i dont really want to send the car tot the scrap yard, so that just leaves the converion then. How much am i looking at to get it done???
  14. also have a quick look at the boltholes throught the lower arms where the tension rods join, one of mine was cracked causing movement and hence a nasty clunk, just a thought.

  16. just another thing whilst i am at it, the car now smokes like fook, would or could this be related to the box going???? It never used to do it this bad only abit of smoke on for the first 5-10 mins when cold, now this has happened its really quite bad.

Cant believe it, autobox had it me thinks, driving on the A3 this morning, going along 75-80 box kicks down to lower gear and wouldnt return to final gear, was getting like a sort on grinding squeeking sound about 2 mins previously to this, so pulls over, get aload of smoke out the back when i stop, which has never happened before. Anyway went through the gears, no hope for reverse, as soon as you select it, it sounds as if something is rubbing, drive will select, but as soom as you move of you get the same grinding/rubbing sound. It does sound as if it is coming from the left hand side of the engine bay but never can really tell. Anyway just abit of advice on boxes, what sort of job is it to change the box on these, can it be done ith the engine in??? Also how much will i look to pay for a reconbox??? Or do you think it might be better to bight the bullet and have hte manual conversion done. Oh how uch does it usually cost to have the conversion i.e. for all the bits i need and the labour, will it be cheaper to aquire the parts myself and then get someone to put it in, Any help on this will be most helpful.   18. nowt wrong with the lower back tatoo, mind you it does depend on what back they are on, those two things in that pic have no shame, Theres nothing worse than a fat bird who thinks she is skinny. Should be some sort of legislation against monstrosities like that. Or at the very least an evening curfew, or some sort of watershed.
  19. clleaning the throttle bodies is a relatively easy job to do yourself i wouldnt pay for someone else to do it, go to http://www.twinturbo.net tells you how to do it in the tech section there.
  20. typical of beckham really, hes over there for money only, doesnt really matter about his performance on the pitch the americans are so far behind england when it comes to football. Its his wife who i cant stand, if anyone saw that programme on her the other day she didnt do herself any favours there i tell you, its hardly suprising that most peoples opinino of her is so poor. Shes go her head so far up her own arse it incredible, and why, what the hell has she ever done thats so great ????? its her second name that keeps her in the papers and what not without it shed be another nobody coz lets face it, exactly what talent does she have aprt from spending beckams money. i;m getting wound up writing this now better stop

  22. to be honest fella, if your running adjustable upper arms, you need to get a solid bush type tension rod, without soild bearings at the rods, you could end up knackering the bearings in the upper arms. If you just do the bushes anyway think you'll need a press mate.
  23. just another thing make sure the collars on the upper arms are very tight, as when the get a little loose you get abit o movement in the shaft.
  24. yeah, you have to get the hicas hub, or it wont fit. Those issota sterring wheels from zed centre look great, on my shopping list anyway. shame about no cruise buttons though, "hijack" can the buttons be located somewhere else, do quite abit on the motorway and its great, dont really wanna loose it
  25. as above, leave the scoobies be get yourself a nice zed, a few easy mods, and goodbye scoobie.
