  1. oh dear, right. have you had a good look at it under a magnifying glass, it is probable the edges will be raised even if it doesnt appear so. Any raised edge on the journal is not what you want. Like scrawni says it maybe possible to get rid of it but, you gotta be very careful to what you are taking away. I would presume that unless i'm corrected that journal and bearing are lubricated "hydrodynamically" if this is the case the you cant afford any raised edge at all. the oil wedge formed by rotation, will break down and you will get excessive wear, you will also most probably get turbulance which is also a no no. I would suggest that you will need to get rid, but you must make sure you know exactly what tolerances you have, because if you dont it will be in the bin time. I can right you a whole page on bearing problems materials etc.. if you like but it well boring.
  2. is the bearing you are talking about actually integral to the shaft ??? it must be able to be removed surely??? ive not seen one of these cranks so dont know. Or is it just the end of the shaft thats scratched and that sits in a shell type bearing ???
  3. so what you are saying is you got no power then??? like its been said, the stock boost gauge not very acurate, get a decent one when you can, does the car actually run ok, do you have any suspicious noises from anywhere ??? if the oil is shite, definately change that for a start. what oil pressure are you getting?? again the gauges not very good, and the pressure falls of at idle. thats normal on a stock gauge. also the car will idle higher when it is cold. Id do abit of a service before you stert ripping tubs out
  4. if the bearing is scratched, then your messing with clearances and hence hydrodynamic lubrication, take the shaft and stick it up the moron who did it, and tell him to empty his piggy bank to pay. If you take something to a professional to be machined then you dont expect it back in a worse condition than it was in before.
  5. nowt wrong with my astra
  6. mine still in working order, but then i dont have huge hp. not sure of the benifits of disabling it, though would be interested to hear though
  7. fitted mine a month ago, but the seem a little slack, what i mean is the more you wind the out you get play around the thread and the shaft, that doesnt seem right to me??? the only way to stop it was for me to have the locking collars bar bloody tight, still not convinced
  8. hicas is the rear wheel steering mate, like above probably low fluid level, top it up and see.
  9. Ok anyone know the stock cam dimensions / profiles ??
  10. as above i fitted my rear kybs yesterday, i thought it was a right dog of a job, having to take out almost all the boot trim just to get to two little nuts what a joke, then trying to get them back in, because of the spring compressors it was like the bloody kripton factor to manoever them about to refit them, why oh why isnt there a door in the trim to get at the top nuts??? needless to say there is on mine now the old jigsaw and abit of steel mesh, bloody japanese.
  11. thanks for the input guys, right so i need to find a machine shop to skim the liners down then, once i have the pistons rods etc.. will i need to uprate the cam shaft as well???? or even the crank shaft
  12. Only had a zed now for about 3 months and its my first, needless to say the car has me hooked, anyways i really want to start chasing big horsepower, so ive been puting the building blocks in place ie.. just making sure the car runs perfect as it should, right so i think forging the engine would be a good move yes, so what size piston do i need to get??? will it be relative to any liner wear i have??? or will 87.5 be the one to go for??? Cheers guys
  13. put magnatec in mine seems ok
  14. not sure if code 13 enables the safety boost, someone will know
  15. yep thats the one, have you tried cleaning the conx up abit
  16. on the side of the ecu is a little screw, turn the ignition on but dont start the engine, turn the screw all the clockwise wait a couple of secs then turn it all the way anti clockwise, now look at the engine check light on the dashboard it will be flashing, the longer flashes are the first digit of the code and the short flashes are the second digit of the code, you want code 55
  17. oh will it be preferable to get some proper gauges as i guess im gonna need a boost controller ????
  18. finally got my zed running as it should, mainly suspension probs, anyway. I now wanna look into increasing the power, everything on the car is stock apart from the suspension wheels exhuast. i was thinking of a apexi intake and a chip, but not sure what i should go for and dont know the cost etc... If anyone has anysound advice would very much appreciate it Thanks in advance
  19. as above do an oil change, it will probably be a hydraulic lifter, i put abit of lifter treatment in mine and that quietened them down
  20. job done or so it seems, had a play with the coil pack conx, and after that no probs
  21. couldnt tell you to be honest, but if someone knows then please spill the beans coz i was thinking of getting one, better put that on hold for abit then
  22. it appears that ive lost abit of coolant from somewhere, although temperature yesterday was holding in the middle of the gauge, looked undercar and got a small patch front passenger side of engine, rad is full and dipstick looks ok, puzzled or what???
  23. just checked ecu, code 55
  24. while we are on the subject, does anyone have the jwt ecu fitted??? i was thinking of this one but would like to no if it is as straight forward as swapping ecu and adding boost jets and bob's you're uncle
  25. Hello All. Well got my zed back on the road yesterday after suspension probs, anyway she was fine no probs at all however, got back home. after an hour or so went to go back out, started her no probs, but when rving her up it feels like the engine is unbalanced like the bloody engine is shaking. when you rev her its rubbish ( hesitant) like shes not firing properly after 3000rpm she goes ok. then when you go in gear ar idle and it feels as if she wants to die on me. any ideas??? I hoping fuel filter spark plugs or something like that. will do a ecu check in a minute and see if that turns anything up. Cheers Dutchy
