  1. agreed, the quality of the solder depends on the skill of the operator. just go for a corded one, but spend a little more on one so you can change the tips. that will be fine

concept z performance, from the u.s. though. although they are cheap, not sure what delivery would cost
  3. the cracking will get worse and eventualy fail, with mine when you braked to a stop you could here a horrible clunk, turns out when i did the passenger side one, i took the tension rod of and the holes in the arm fell straight through, so i just had a massive hole in them!!!!!!!!!!!! When you change them be careful that when you try to undo the nut where the ball joint goes onto the hub. the nut was so tight on mine the joint failed before the nut would undo, there for your left with the bloody thing just turning.
  4. thanks dude, i'll give that a try
  5. no thats the thing, its odourless. and tasteless for that matter!!! could it be just an accumulation of water resting somewhere ??? but it was quite alot. although have had some seriously heavy rain recently and the car has been sat out innit
  6. My zed hasnt been driven for a while about a month actually, this was due to a few things, most serious I found was one of the lower arms where the tension rods bolt on was seriously cracked and hence when i took the TR off the bloody thing fell apart ( will post some pics). Any way now, started no probs but noticed water dripping ( not engine coolant) from the front lower edge passenger side wheel arch, its where the front bumper screws into that like plastic pan just underneath the front edge ???? the car hold temperature ok, but thats only idle, havent driven it as shocks are knackered, also got dampness in the passy footwell, i know one of the door seals has a leak, but this was quite wet. Could it be the heater matrix ???
  7. hello bud, yeah the place is still open, but there isnt any signs or anything on the unit anymore, only lke a small one in the window, coz it hasnt ben goin that long. but its well equiped and H really knows his stuff. Ive been up to sva imports just for abit of a nose really, looks ok. but the guy you speak to up there didnt exactly fil me with confidence to be honest, but hey, he might be good. If you do have any work done there, i'd be interested to know what sort of job they did.
  8. speak to "H" at ashford motor sport, thats up coombe valley ind estate, hes pretty knowledgable about the z. I live in dover myself so if you need a hand with anything let me know
  9. so your saying keep the spring compressor on with it in the arch until it is all bolted back up
  10. Hello Chaps. Going to fit my kyb's over the weekend, just wanted abit of advice on the best way to go about it, anything i need to look out for, or just the best method of getting it done. Cheers All the best Dutchy
  11. when you say lighten the crank shaft how are you going to achieve this???? by machining it???? id just get a new one if i were you. Cant see how your gonna make the crank shaft lighter without removing metal, not sure thats such a good idea
  12. each to there own, but those things look rubbish, they are almost as bad as under carrage neons.
  13. Hello All Heres the thing, recently put some adj upper arms on my zed, and had probs lining the 3rd link up with the bearing to get the bolt through, anyways after getting the hump and tw*ting with a hammer ive trashed the shock me thinks, as i got a big pssssssssssss from it, gas i presume. anyway got the arms on try to drive it, and think it was just running on the spring itself as can here it "twangin". So got a full new set of shocks kyb, which i am yet to fit, i cant really afford to get some new springs till next month, can i run it on the stock springs with the new shocks, or will it be a waste of time, just wanna get her back on the road quick, as i'm missing out on good targa time. Cheers all
  14. theres one called jenkins and pain in dover, had my astra gsi, in for new front bumper etc... paint job was spot on. thats all i know about them
  15. anyone used the stoptech discs and calipers?????
  16. Z master, seeing as you live in southampton, have you tried the japtech garage down by the football ground??? need to find a good garage for my zed around the southampton area???
  17. i know you can get a full set from ipp, not sure about getting them seperately though???? if you find someine let me know an all, coz a couple of mine will need doing soon.
  18. whatever you do, keep chasing them, the worms will do anything to get out of it, make yourself aware of the legality of it all, not meaning to sound like the grim reaper but companies hate paying out even if it clearly their fault. make sure you have a real gooed read of their conditions of carrage, so the cant worm their way out of it. all the best hope it gets resolved in your favour bud
  19. suspension me thinks, not sure if I'd go for tein though, they are rock hard, mind you that is a sweet bumper on the blue zed, just out of interest is that a 99 spec, or something else???
  20. diesels as in any engine will only run as long as you look after them and maintain them properly, in marine application such as what i work with, the engines run for hours and hours non stop, but we have a huge ammount of planned maintenance to carry out to look after them, i could write a ten page essay on diesel maintenance, but I'll spare you the boredom.
  21. as far as I know the j spec oil cooler is smaller than that of the uk one, i think most people get a new oil cooler, then run the j spec cooler for the gear oil alone, and use the new one for everything else, think there is a few threads on it somewhere.
  22. I dont believe it, I was gonna have something off that guy about two weeks ago, is he the fella that lives on the isle of white??? i think thats him. sorry hes fleased you dude, but thanks for the warning.

  24. they are abit steep, but thats probably coz they are semi racing tyre, and really designed for the track. they're a pretty soft compund, so they aint gonna last long if you go smoking them up around town.
