  1. Well the tape measure was out today.... The NA auto box complete is 25mm longer than the NA box... So my NA prop shaft needs to be 25mm shorter... NA auto 510mm front + 539mm rear = 1049mm TT auto 489mm front + 508mm rear = 997mm required length = 1024mm 1024 - 539 = 485mm which is almost front of TT prop….. + 4mm too long... So if I get a TT front half and mate it to my NA rear half and get it balanced........ Should be okay???? Or have a one piece Shaft made 25mm shorter than the NA one? Thoughts???
  2. My cousin has one in his garage sitting there....... just sitting there as an investment....... I may have to borrow it for a show sometime.... He keeps saying I can borrow it.... lol
  3. I have done the NA to TT swap....... Takes time, luck in getting all the parts required cheaply, lots of research as mounting points for hard pipes to intercoolers aren't there, different radiator fitting points... The TT ECU plugs into the NA loom, but there is a difference...https://z32.wikispaces.com/Fuel+Pump+Control+Unit I bought a complete TT engine with turbo's and stripped it and fitted head gaskets and belt kit. I then got intercoolers, pipework, recirculation valves from a breaker. Transmission was the NA auto box that was in the car. ECU was from the breaker. I bought an aluminium radiator from ebay. Electronic boost controller was from ebay, boost gauge from ebay. An Oil cooler and pipework will also be required. I had already done the brakes when I got the car. It is a lot of work to do and will likely cost a lot for the parts and labour to do it.... If you know your way round an engine...... You can do it..... But it is NOT an easy task and takes research, good advice and friends with a TT 300zx to look at when you get stuck where things fit! I Only did my conversion as I only wanted this Z..... I didn't want to buy a TT...... Just wanted to upgrade my Z.... If your not attached to your Z, then buy a TT..... it's easier and cheaper! Just my 2p worth and thoughts......
  4. Found this...... If you want to take a look..... http://www.paintforcars.com/blog/common-car-paint-problems-their-causes-and-how-to-repair-and-prevent-them-from-happening-part-2/ It says:- Please read the full article as it is only what I have found searching google for 'Crazing car paint' and don't want to give wrong information...... Just pointing you to what I found..... Russ
  5. Welcome to the forum Visito.... Lovely work there my friend..... lots of love and attention to detail..... Enjoy driving her......
  6. Not round here...... we get the hard water version...... tastes lovely.......
  7. I'm not sure phutumsch as Jim made it........ absolutely perfect after a 3 1/2 hour drive...... the best tasting cups of tea are usually made for you.... lol
  8. There was a melted 'T' connector on a vacuum pipe, so Jimmer replaced it with a straight connector and we found a few small boost leaks...... mainly from a sensor with diaphragm leaking... Jimmer put his smoke machine into the intake and checked for leaks.... He's an absolute Legend...... Sorry Jimmer...... I will shut up now..... lol
  9. They look the same as the ones used on the front inner wing cowling.... 8mm hole? PM me your address and I will send you a couple to try..... Russ
  10. I saw a scrap metal guy collecting an old Rusty Z........ was that yours?........... lol I didn't venture round to see your Z..... was too busy gassing and drinking tea.... lol Plus there was a car alight out there where a welder had set light to an old red interior whilst welding....... :innocent:
  11. Nicely done committee......... Thank you all.......
  12. Was it this thread ? http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?185422-UK-Spec-Exhaust-information-details-Dimensions-needed-please
  13. I just wanted to say a huge thank you to Jimmer for making a superb cup of tea and taking the time to have a look at my Audi when I popped in to pick up some parts.... She drove beautifully all the way home with loads of grunt...... It took 9 hours round trip after the M4 delays..... but was well worth the drive! It was really nice to meet you today and hopefully we will meet up again sometime... Thank You! Russ
  14. That's fine Lexx... OP had said it was tested as other, but hadn't said if it was done on idle or any other info. I quoted your response on another thread as it seemed relevant at the time of posting. I just posted the MOT annex details so the OP could read the information a tester would use as a reference. I had no intention of confusing or wrongly directing the OP. That is why I asked for an MOT testers input.... I won't quote you again.
  15. what are the dimensions? Inner, outer and width? I will have a look for you... this company make loads...... might be one the correct size....? http://www.shelleyparts.co.uk/exhaust-components/exhaust-olives.php
  16. It is Chris.... Nobody seems to like working on them and Nobody wants to help...... So doing lots of research, watching videos and asking questions... I am hoping to build a good spare transmission and gain some experience in something I have never worked on. No rush.... so enjoying some garage time under no pressure of deadlines.... lol If I can refurbish one properly, then hopefully I can use this new knowledge to refurbish some more......
  17. Oh....... I see........ Now you don't like me bar my exhausts!!!!!!!!...............:crying:
  18. Well today I went out to the tip I call a garage....... and did some investigation as to why the first transmission failed on me.... 1) I removed the valve body and found a few pieces of broken plastic ring floating about in there...... I think it is the washer from Stator To Reverse Drum. 2) I tested all 5 solenoids and found the lockup solenoid works, the EPC solenoid works, but the pack of 3 are all jammed up and not working...... so I have no overrun, or shift solenoids working... So far the valve body is really dirty, the gasket is brittle and there appears to be some rust on the outside of the drums...... I will be taking some pictures to add to my posts showing what I find as I go.... Next thing is to make up an angle iron frame to bolt the transmission to my engine stand so it sits vertically and will pivot to work on the valve body, clutch packs, etc... I shall be slowly rebuilding this transmission as I get the parts to totally overhaul it properly and clean every single part carefully..... I want to know exactly how it all works, comes apart and goes back together so it actually works... Slowly, cleanly.........
  19. Maybe he will make an 'Acception' to his rules...... :whistling:
  20. I'm pretty sure they cannot fail your car for emissions......... As a 300zx isn't on the Annex they cannot test for emissions if they have No reference, so it would go under this section... and that states it is only an idle test if I am reading it right... emissions.pdf Where are the MOT testers on here when we need them????
  21. What year is your Z? I thought they were no longer on the system for emissions... Never had mine done as "other"...... I thought they couldn't do emissions on cars not on the system?? Lex posted this on another thread a while ago.....
  22. What year is your Z? I thought they were no longer on the system for emissions... Never had mine done as "other"...... I thought they couldn't do emissions on cars not on the system??
  23. You Sir are veilside'ist............. and owe my old bodykit an apology......... you could hurt my feelings with all this anti-veilsidism...............:tt2:
