  1. Oooooooh that was low....... Hi Stephen.... nice to see your still here.... lol
  2. Hi Andrew and Gary, I'm all good...... had a few health issues, family issues and the usual financial issues....... Basically had a few issues.... lol Health is getting better slowly, hopefully my pneumothorax will repair itself...... been hard to do anything with partially deflated lung.... but doctors are monitoring me now... about 1 3/4 of my lungs are okay at the moment..... so taking life easy... still at work every day throughout this, so doing okay..... lol Just hard to exert myself doing much more than light work, even though I keep over doing it at work... So the Z will be worked on when I am up to it. Not rushing or making myself worse.... How has everyone been???
  3. Hi Alic, long running transmission problem.... I have a replacement box in garage..... Just need some good weather to convince me to get her in the air and swap it out.... lol The solenoids and clutch packs are gone..... so replacing the box is best option..... Thanks anyway..... Russ
  4. I went for a drive to test out the series 1 Consult unit.......... Felt good until the transmission started to slip again....... Got her home and parked safely.... I miss being able to drive her without worrying about her breaking down..... lol Hopefully the year to get her sorted at last......
  5. Hi everyone, been away for a while concentrating on family and work for a while as the Z funds ran dry... I managed to procure an original Nissan Consult unit and have successfully repaired it over the past month or so.... If anyone locally needs to use it then let me know if I can help..... and you can either pop round or I maybe able to come to you.... Getting ready to swap out the faulty auto box, transmission ECU and prop shaft when the weather picks up.... Paint maybe a while off yet.......
  6. I bought this bottom end with the intention of a winter project. Unfortunately all Z work has ceased for the foreseeable future due to financial issues taking priority. So I need to raise some funds and will be selling a few parts I have purchased for my Z.... I was informed a bearing had spun when I purchased it...... so it will need rebuilding and machining...... so is perfect for rebuilding either a NA engine or using a TT sump and pistons to convert to a TT bottom end.
  7. Happy belated birthday from me and my calf muscles.....:tt2::happybday::tt2:
  8. 1. Richie K 2. Nemesiz 3. TonyB* 4. Mondo 5. Bones28 6. Veilside01702 Count me in Gents.....
  9. Have you checked and cleaned connectors for the auto box? Here's a picture of them.... Check they aren't green and corroded and snuggly fitted together. Have you checked the throttle position sensor is working ok?
  10. I've now swapped 2 auto boxes in the past 2 years...... I just don't want to do it on my driveway again...... so looking for a local professional mechanic with Z experience, a ramp and who is willing to do the work.......????????
  11. Just need to find someone willing to fit it for me.......:crying::whistling:
  12. Sorry...... had to hit the WTF button........ It is another superb example Gaz..... stop selling her short!...... no pun intended.... - - - Updated - - - Sorry...... had to hit the WTF button........ It is another superb example Gaz..... stop selling her short!...... no pun intended....
  13. Well, I picked up the Prop from Dave... Tomomontana on Wednesday...... well I say picked up..... Dave helped me jack up his breaker and remove the exhaust and Prop.... took us a while after chatting Z's for quite a while.... lol So next job is removing the NA prop from my Z, building a franken Prop and then getting it balanced properly with a new centre bearing...... Thanks to Dave for all his help and patience....... And Yorkshire Tea.... lol Need to get cracking with this now.....
  14. So how did the oil get in the intake? And won't that be sucked through the impellers coating them with old oil and residue? Turbo seals blown would dump oil into exhaust.... Surely intake would mean a breather system leak?
  15. Am I right in taking that Chrisbasildon was saying that the failed turbo's he sees at work have oil and muck in the intake from oil ingress from breather systems, etc. that then goes through the turbo? Would this muck being sucked through it, shorten the life of a turbo? All the turbo's I have had have lasted due to fresh clean Castrol RS oil and filters, replaced feed and return hoses and also allowing them to cool down slowly with a bit of idling before turning off the engine. My old series 1 RS engine used to have a glowing turbo after a good thrashing and I would go for a slow poodle around for a few miles before heading home just to allow it to cool down to normal running temperature. I was always told that the oil and water are there to cool and lubricate the turbo, so suddenly taking away lubrication and cooling from a very hot turbo causes it to heat what water and oil is left. So I have followed the advice I was given years ago...... whether right or wrong..... Was I right in thinking different metals cool at different speeds, so internals on turbo's, such as impellers, seals, snail shell, etc will contract and expand independently causing clearance differences if one cools quicker than another? Could different quality materials used, such as different metals with different mixes of materials cause problems? Cheap alloys, steel, etc....?
  16. Can you record the grinding sound you have?
  17. No.... more likely pot holes.... UK roads don't like alloy wheels.... especially with low profile tyres....
  18.:lol::lol::lol::lol:............ It even has a "Dumb Valve" and "inside two town leather red and black "............ ahhh my ribs hurt!
  19. Sorry Andrew...... my bad..... lol
  20. Hi James, No idea specifically, I was just thinking if the transmission or engine mounts had split then the vibration could be passed through the prop... I think the buckled rear wheels is best place to start as you know they are buckled. I would see if you can borrow as set of wheels to rule it out... Is there anyone local to you that has an old / spare set to see if it disappears at 55mph... even a set of original wheels... I have had a vibration due to rear hub having dirt that stopped the wheel sitting flush against the hub face. I also have multi fit wheels with 10 holes. 114.3 and 112...... The tyre fitting company fitted 3 wheels in the correct 114.3 holes and one wheel in the 112 holes, causing me loads of vibration as the studs weren't centred in the holes so nuts were off centre in the hole.... They also forgot to fit my spigot ring on one wheel..... this same wheel in fact.... http://www.ebay.co.uk/gds/Spigot-Rings-Just-What-Are-They-/10000000179072609/g.html Just a couple of idea's..... maybe already thought of, but things I have come across. Russ
  21. I think I found the tool for the job Richard....
  22. It maybe a stupid question....... Have you checked the engine and gearbox mounts? Is it only from 55mph upward?
  23. Hmmmmm.... Z party at your place I do believe.......... Does it come with a kettle and bacon sarnie maker?????....... lol
  24. I was wondering why I hadn't received any sarcastic calf muscle digs...... lol
