  1. I bought a mid-level Wings West spoiler from a breakers yard, came off a slightly modded wrecked 300....got it for a ton and I have it fitted to my 300, but am currently merging a fibre glass copy of my origional spoiler to the Wings West one. Deffo a bargain to be had with regards to scrappies as against paying the full price. There are a couple of poor pics in my rides page but I have a few pics on disc somewhere with the different stages with regards fitting the fibre copy if they are of help. Cheers John Crisp
  2. Fraser what symptoms u got when u say the car aint running sweet as it should be, sometimes i think mine is like that then i jump into the wife's Xsara Picasso HDi and I know its not running that bad. Reading some posts on here about 300ZX's being Scooby eaters, I know for sure mine aint as my mate has a Jap Import 280 bhp WRX and he leaves me for dead, I have a boost leak which can be heard quite noticably when the car is kicked so for me maybee thats my problem. I want Conzult for my own means as well as probably most ZED owners but I think with most modern cars the basics can cause grief rather than the electronics, meaning air filter/fuel filters/boost leaks etc. My mate has a garage in Darvel, Ayrshire who does most kinds of exotic cars but again no Conzult. Enough warbling from me.....cheers John Crisp
  3. Raz is the leak not from a pipe rather than the rack....I changed my rack with another 2nd hand rack for what I thought was free play in the rack....only to find out the rack can be adjusted. But I have a leak now but its from the pipes at the OSF of the rack. If u want a new rack go for it but maybee there is no need for the rack to be changed...surely the garage who checked for the MOT can elaborate where the oil is coming from exactly and with garages I think sometimes a 2nd opinion is required before I part with hard earned cash. Just my 2p's worth mate. Cheers John Crisp
  4. Can the water in the cooling system not be tested for carbon aka compression gas content....my mate had a similar problem with his Scooby, he took it to a local garage who did some sort of test to the cooling system...head gasket was cream crackered when they stripped it....i am not sure of the exact nature of the tester though...anyone expand on this?? Cheers John Crisp
  5. AON have an every day Classic Policy I used to have my import GT4 on before I bought the UK zed I have, but I have a Beiruit Postcode (G78) and 3 points, car was standard, 5k miles a year , me being 36, working in the motor trade, all for about 500 quid. I have the zed registered in my wife's name as a Classic with Houghtons now as I have a company van all for 175 quid a year now so I cancelled with AON. I will look out the number if it helps. Cheers John Crisp
  6. Oopsie then change it again after 250 miles, new turbo's=new oil/filter to me. Cheers John Crisp
  7. Surely if the turbo's are changed, as a matter of course the engine oil and filter should be changed irrespective of when it was last changed, small price to pay as contaminated oil does damage to bearings etc, Cheers John Crisp
  8. Scott how not get the guys at C & C Exhausts in Hillington to make you up a Custom Stainless System, he deals in cash as well so not VAT, made up my silencer for me and made an amazing job on it. I have the number somewhere if it helps. Cheers John Crisp
  9. FFS I was just back from a run and didnt read the post properly.... :hyper: But I bought upper link bushes from Courtesy Nissan (Nismo parts) they are a lot cheaper than buying them in the UK from Middlehurst if that helps. Cheers John Crisp
  10. I got a single back box made with a 5 inch tail welded onto it for a TON for cash from a local stainless exhaust centre, 800 sounds very steep, this guy quoted me 350 to make up/fit the system, but in the end a workmate and I made it up ourselves and welded it with the mig with stainless wire. This was for a single exit system BTW. HTH John Crisp
  11. I'd be interested in the outcoming of this, I have changed the top shocker front shocker bushes as well, and the stud centre of the shocker can be moved from side to side as though there is wear/freeplay in the top mount. Cheers John crisp
  12. Craig the S2 PTU has an adaptor loom in both sides of the PTU to connect to the origional plugs. HTH John Crisp
  13. I fused both my feed and earth in the 2 wires I ran into the tailgate when I bought my spoiler brake light 2nd hand, but I have a Wings West mid level spoiler fitted with brake light and had a fibre glass copy made of the origional so it could be merged to the WW one, but I got the wire colours from a wiring diagram in the manual, well worth the money for DIY jobs like your doing Paul. Cheers John Crisp
  14. Jambo I had a similar problem with mine, kept cutting out when warm, then i was so pissed off with the car after it decided not to start at all, I left it for 2 days and it started 1st crack....I got a new PTU from Courtesy Nissan in USA (http://www.courtesyparts.com). BTW small world another Zed in the Paisley area.....i'm in Barrhead. Cheers hope this helps John Crisp
  15. I just inherited a company laptop but has W32/Rbot-CT coming up on the virus checker. Whats the best tools to remove it. Cheers John Crisp
  16. I just handed in my notice today....after 20 years service.....ended my shift with my manager telling me thats me finished up and not to work my notice.....my manager is a young high flyer within the company....but as the saying goes if you are an arsehole you go places...if you are good at your job they dont move you... My thoughts would be to go where the money is as loyalty etc is out the window nowadays and management etc dont give flying f*** for anyone...all they care about is balancing the books..kinda sad me thinks. Enough warbling from me....time for a few beers to celebrate my new job. As they say look forward not back.... cheers John Crisp
  17. Dealers.....TBH I wouldnt let any Nissan dealer near my ZED as I work for a dealership and see the shit that goes on behind closed doors. I think its a dealer thing in general, not just Nissan, usually overpaid underachievers with maybee 1 or 2 people running the garage who know what the score is, but I know thats not the case in all dealerships, i bet there are people who are happy with their dealer service. Just a personal thing with me. Cheers John Crisp BTW 10 quid petrol got me 30 miles travelling to work all stop start not above 40 mph apart from a short blast of dual carriageway.......hope the mrs dont see this......
  18. When i bought my car from John-Boy I drove it from Maidstone to Glasgow, got lost a few times to adding miles, i think it was roughly 530 miles i travelled on a tank and a half at a steady 75 with a few bursts, I never calculated a proper figure but considering I dont think thats too bad and with all cars driving style etc has plenty to do with fuel consumption. I wanted a manual but ended up with an auto but plenty people on here have converted them with parts bought from some of the breakers on here. Cheers John Crisp
  19. Oopsie with regards fuel consumption i never even thought about what i'd get to the gallon...surely the last question on anyone's mind while considering a 300TT.....3 litre V6 Twin turbo......schhhwwingggggggggg. Cheers enough warbling from me....John Crisp
  20. Being honest I have had a lot of grief with mine and its cost a fair amount for parts over the 2 and a half years i've had mine but thats the fun of owning a supercar and the only thing i'd change my TT for is a Skyline GTR even though it looks nothing compared to a 300. As for fuel consumption I was gettin about 15 travelling to and from work but I have a Renault 19 diesel as a daily driver with the zed on classic as a 2nd car so thats worth thinking about as well. Go do it and stop thinking about doing it. Cheers John Crisp
  21. i'd say go for it, most cars of this type like a 300TT, GTO, Supra etc even a prelude, parts are expensive and garage bills will be expensive unless you are handy and not scared to have a go with the repairs. Lets face it buying a car is a lottery, look at the grief that can be had with a brand new friday or monday car so as I said at the start of this post...... GO GET A 300 TT , I bet you wont be dissapointed. Cheers John Crisp
  22. Custom exhausts are the dogs *****cks IMO, i changed my standard system to a single exit system with two 3 inch sections merging to 4 inch to the single silencer with a 5 inch tail. Sounds awsome when kicked but with normal driving is loud but not that loud. My car runs standard apart from the exhaust. Cheers just my 2p's worth......John Crisp :duffer:

John Might have spotted you tonight in Paisley near the RAH as I was in the wife's citroen 5 or 6 cars behind a grey zed. Cheers John Crisp
  24. Dave I use 'DVD Santa' to convert most formats to DVD, but it is slow and when its converted the files it will ask if u want to burn to disc as well within the same program. BTW I got that program from a torrent site which I cant remember the link to, if it helps give me a shout and i'll look for it. HTH Cheers John Crisp
  25. I took my old spoiler off as I managed to stumble across a smashed zed in a scrappie locally that had a Wings West high level spoiler on it which I bought thinking it wouldnt be too much of a job to fit. After 1 year (of which I havent had a lot of time to commit to fitting the spoiler) the high level spoiler is fitted, I took my origional spoiler to a local fibre glass company who copied the origional spoiler so I could butcher it as I wanted to merge it to the high level one. Now I am trying to get sections of fibreglass (from a smashed truck front grille) to cut and fit in the gap in the tailgate so I can stick the copied spoiler onto as I have cut the edges off it and its almost a perfect fit, apart from one edge at the top that springs up whenever its sat against where its ment to sit.....tigerbond and plenty of it me thinks. As for having a go and not putting the car in a bodyshop...I am a HGV mechanic to trade but I havent had much body experience but have a go as i think u would surprise yourself and as the old saying goes,,every day is a school day. Anyone wants pictures of my progress I have them on disc if they are help to anyone give me a shout. Cheers John Crisp
