  1. I've been watching this for the last two years. Fantastic series, shame it's always about 3 months between updates
  2. Sounds like either a head gasket or can belt. Quite possibly the latter but all seem a bit low anyway. When was the cam belt done last?
  3. Depends of the wheel offset and if you have any arch work
  4. http://www.aus300zx.com/forum/archive/index.php/t-307456.html
  5. Either Nissan for an extortionate £20 or eBay for about £5 for 10 of each
  6. Are you sure it's the auto box cooler and not the oil cooler. As standard the box cooler is built into the radiator. Some people used to upgrade to the uk spec cooler for their oil then use the jap smaller one for the box. Take a pic
  7. A lot of it depends on what you are going to use the car for and your future plans for the car. If you want a show car or similar then go for the bright blue, it needs to match really If you are looking to keep the car for a long time as a standardish car and want it to be potentially worth more in the future, I would go for the correct blue it is now. If you just want it to look smart and make your mind up later, go for satin black
  8. The bilt hamber stuff is great I used this. The biggest issue is on the seams, with the factory underseal as soon as a bit of water gets in it will creep along all the seams and be kept it by the underseal. If you are going to use Por15 etc then really it all needs to go back to metal. This will be a big expensive job and if your car is still fresh from Japan shouldn't be needed. Just get as much wax in as you can. You will need to strip out the carpet to do this properly. I used epoxy mastic for the underside of mine, it's truly tough and resistant to almost anything. It's oil rig paint basically.
  9. 我講一點中國:lol:
  10. Unfortunately you will be looking at about £400 to replace that lot The two small roof trims are cheap at about a tenner each but will look way to clean next to old targa trims. Door trims are quite easy to get second hand but may also be old and weathered. I'm sure you will get a better targa centre trim used but they do require a bit of work to replace, about £80 new if I remember correctly As said, good scuttles are hard to find used
  11. You are turning this over on the starter arnt you?
  12. hasegawa do a 1/12 model with lots of die cast bits if you have the cash http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/HASEGAWA-1-12-Nissan-Fairlady-Z-300ZX-Twin-Turbo-NM-/151852455532?nav=SEARCH I also have a 1/16 nikko Rc 300 on my desk, I bet no one has one of them. I'll try and get a photo
  13. The other side is needed. The air is feed in here, through the valve and directly into the plenum. The other route in is the to also take this air in from the t to the air regulator and then into the balance bar. The feed for both of these (into the t) comes from the turbo inlet hose, it's metered air but from before the throttle and turbo.
  14. I have been waiting for the 300 to get a review, for the last two or three videos he has put up I have seen the 300 parked in the background so I thought it was coming. I'm about to watch it now
  15. I thought about doing this and I might do in future, as I'm sure you have done you need to cap the balance bar and the t on the air valve. I think it's quite a popular mod on 240sx's etc I don't think it's really needed in our climate plus the air valve will deal with the target idle speed to a large extent
  16. All of it It's surprisingly easy to work on now, the only pain is the balance bar- this may go at some point I recommend you start with deleting: The aivs Egr Fuel pressure boost unit Water bypass Ptu relocation Further to that you can Relocate battery Relocate fuse box Relocate pas reservoir Delete hicas Wire tuck Boost solenoids Fuel damper There are a few more but I can remember That lot will keep you busy over the winter
  17. You can buy a set of sportster cs for around 2k. That's what these are with a bit of a colour change and probably some nicer leather
  18. Did you take the clutch off? Have you tried tilting the engine back a bit? Have you tried really swearing at it? Gearboxes can be a pain, particualy working on the floor and especially with a heavy box like on the 300
  19. Looks like a very nice car, later spec interior with alcantara and the arm rests. A good buy at 4K, in a few years time I'm sure it will be worth conciderably more
  20. Nsx and an early esprit for me The nsx I'm considering now as a bit of an investment. I would love to restore an esprit though, probably including fitting an Audi v8 and transaxle out back
  21. Welcome to the club No need for a standalone ecu, the Nissan ecu is very flexible unless you are wanting to ditch the airflow meter and use a map sensor Nistune upgrade is about £250 or so I think
  22. Is the car really not drivable as is? There must be a serious imbalance or similar if that's the case As si says, if you are getting into replacing trims etc then be prepared to dig deep. As a rough estimate I think I will have spent around 2k on trim, door seals, rear lights etc. A lot of those bits can be diy refurbed if you like a bit of a project and there are plenty of good guides around
  23. I find snake oil has the best effect for me
  24. Perhaps the rear gearbox mount could be to blame. If I was back in the uk I'd be over to lend a hand. Don't loose heart, they are generally reliable cars but at 20-25 years old and being very advanced for their time they need to be well maintained. A bit of initial investment will result in a good car.
  25. Nice, I've been trying to get a 300 shell for ages, unfortunately they are out of production. :-(
