  1. It's coming round to that time of year again. I.e. Fly back to the uk and spend some quality time on the zed. This time last year I thought I had finished but I've to keep myself busy Woking out how best to waste my money on my car based OCD. For those that are interested, here are the bits that will be going on with photos where I can. The biggest project is the turbo replacement, I've gone with the czp 600 package with ams manifolds and 3"down pipes Next up are some interior upgrades, mostly all Oem. I found a brand new set of door cards for a good price, so I snapped them up. They will need a bit of a retrim but will really bring the interior back to brand new (as almost all parts have been replaced excluding the dash). A new set of door handle surrounds and window switch surrounds are also going in. To finish off the doors (I'm still looking for blue glass) I also have a new set of rollers Last year I fitted new door rubbers so this year it's the turn for the targa seals. These are pretty expensive but I think I managed to get just about the last set available as Europe and Japan are now showing discontinued- buy them now while you can! In the photo there is a load of other stuff including bits to refresh the clutch actuation and shifter linkage. The last few bits still to arrive are a new set of a pillar trims and some new instrument pods
  2. I wouldn't worry too much about the carbon, a bit or carb cleaner and a plastic scraper should get rid of the worst. They actually look clean to me. Personally I wouldn't have opened the engine up that far but it's done now. Your biggest challenge is going to be cleaning up the head gasket surfaces without scratching up the heads or getting debris in the block. A metal scraper will do the job on the block(don't dig it in) a softer scraper will be needed on the heads. For the lifters, you can soak them in petrol to clean them out, purge out the oil using a small pin to move the check valve. Then get fresh oil in them. I think this is in the fsm
  3. Great colour choice, so much brighter than the original interior white. Did you get new weather stripping in the end? Oh and are you on 2.5" z1 intercoolers? Really looking forward to seeing your car in the flesh- it's going to put my paint to shame
  4. Oh love the new a pillar covers. I have a similar size pile of new Oem parts piled up in the uk also
  5. Opse, I should have read the whole thread. The refurb look very good.
  6. What are the turbos exactly?
  7. Yours too, there are many great cars in the club I've never seen in the flesh, it's going to be great!
  8. I'm going to be retriming some of my interior. Instead of destroying what I have already got/retrimed I'll maybe start from scratch again. Does anyone have any of the lower dash parts including glove box they want to get rid of. Obviously there are a few bits on eBay but I thought I'd try here. Also if anyone has any of the swb interior panels let me know, cash waiting.
  9. I'm going to be getting the car mapped soon, before I do I though it would be worthwhile fitting some manual inlet cams. These are the same for the n/a also, anyone got some?

  11. Good work mate. The bilt Humber products are great, I used them on mine. As you may be aware, the cavity wax is quite flammable. As red wine pointed out, please be very careful with welding the zink, it is highly toxic when welded.
  12. Thanks guys I think this is the direction I will take, getting hold of a good set of upper door covers with no belt holes might be another challenge though. I assume the belts can be reused in the b pillar location?
  13. I've just managed to buy two brand new door cards for what I concider to be a good price. They are the wrong colour ( I can deal with that) and they are for the later series cars with b pillar mounted belts. I think I will convert the car to the later style belts, does anyone have an opinion on which is better ( people always trap the belt in the door at the moment) plus I don't want to hack up new door cards. On a general note I'm really excited about these as I have replaced almost all of the interior plastic and the current door cards are letting the interior down.
  14. I just managed to pick up a new set of targa seals to go with the new door seals as well, should make a nice difference and as you said si, stock won't be around much longer. I think I've also managed to locate a set od 2 seater b pillar trims and a new steering cowl which I thought were obsolete so thanks for the inspiration to try and pin down some of these parts. Unfortunately having just spent $180 on a new indicator stalk I think I have hit your level of ocd. It looks great though and should have the nice fresh printing on it.
  15. Hmm, that's annoying. I just bought new door seals from the US. I've also been trying to replace all my plastics. So far I have not been able to find: B pillar plastics Steering column shroud Si, the next time you are at the dealer, could you see how much a pair of targa seals are for a Swb I think the part # are Part #: 76861-51P00 Part #: 76860-51P00 I would really appreciate the help as it's difficult for me to get to a dealer
  16. Sure thing mate, I'm booked in for the 20th July. I'll be driving up from Evesham so I expect I'll hang out there all day. Always happy to have someone to talk 300s with.
  17. Good to hear pro tuner still has a good rep, my car is heading there in July.
  18. That would be great, it looks a little funny at the moment
  19. I had my screen replaced by national windscreens after finishing my restoration. Cost was around £200 so was reasonable. I got it in a blue tint as I want to change over at some time, anyone know of a set of blue glass for a swb? Excluding screens
  20. Watching this with interest, a top notch Respray is on my list to get done at some point. Keep up the good work si
  21. Thanks Jeff but I'm 99% sure it's the turbos, as I did a few very long drives and the smoke only comes at idle once the car is really up to temperature, it's quite a smoke screen as well Fortunately I have a new set of gt2560r's sat on my floor - upgrade time :-)
  22. Dash retrim you say..... Hmmmm that would be very tempting
  23. Wow, love the retrim mate. Make mine look a little boring now ( but I'm very happy with them)
