  1. thanks for that. im sure it is running r12. the pump turns by hand but makes a little noise but that may be the clutch. the radiator also looks very mankey so i guess it has leaked from there. all in all i guess its not worth the hastle. is there an easy way to see if there is gas in the system ie press in valve and if so would a lack of gas stop the clutch from kicking in ie pressure sensor (could connection be corroded?) many thanks
  2. i wonder if you guys can help. i have a series 1 tt. the aircon does not work. where should i start. i have tried to put it into diagnosis mode but it just gives me a load of temps i was expecting a fault code. is this just for the series 2. the electro magnetic clutch does not kick in so im not sure where to start can i get it regasses as its a 91 car
  3. ill second that. waxoil just seems to keep the rust under it and continues to rust. im using alot of bilt humber stuff on my 200sx restoration/project
  4. have you thought about the fact hat you could be getting dett. if the engine boosts fine, then detts, the knock sensor detects this and reduces the boost and ignition timing to protect itsself could be a dirty maf causing the engine to lean out at high rpm once the lambda sensors switch off at 3k
  5. ive had my zed for around 2 weeks now but it hasn't had much use yet as i want to get it right before i use it too much i decided to take off all the front hoses, turbo hoses and examine all the vac lines etc. i will also replace all the connectors as they are falling apart. i hope this will make things a little smoother. how ever two very alarming discoveries tonight. the wastegate actuator feed on the ns had totaly detached its self. i have only given it full boost once or twice and i dont think any damage has been done as the turbos dont smove and the plugs are intact- phew lucy escape i thonk it ran up to about 7mmhg. far more alarmingly i took off the throttles to give them a good clean the help the idle. just when packing up for the night i thought i would have a quick look inside the inlet manifold. sitting inside the ns manifold i found an allen key fitting from a socket set  i have no idea how long it has been in there and who left it there i assume it must have been dropped in through the balance bar hole as im sure id know if it had gone through the turbo. i just cant belive my luck that i found it in there. can anyone beat that?
  6. sorry for the late reply i have sent you mail
  7. thanks for the replies i will have a look at the sensor but it seems a bit wierd it is effected by engine load. the oil in the box looks very clean but i suspect the filter has not been cleaned so ill give that a go. what oil is best? just dexron? i have also noticed that the oil smells a little of petrol. it has only just been changed but not by me with silkoline. it has just passed its mot though and i would have thought that would affect the hc readings. maybe its just the oil. in general the enging is squeaky clean in the cam cover and pulls strong. any more thoughts
  8. hi all had my zed for just over a week now few little problems. here are just a couple when i accelerate the temp guage jumps around and goes down. is this a bad engine earth? and would it affect anything else ( idle is not quite as smooth as i would like. also the auto box seems a little lazy into 3rd and 4th untill warm. it changes but i need to back off a little. this is on light throttle not wot. i also just read about replacing the coil pack relay- are these a nissan only part? many thanks pete ps its a 91 jap tt auto
  9. ill have them off you please. ill email you later to confirm details
  10. where would be the best place to get a cheep set of front shocks to get me on road while i save up for a decent set
  11. thanks for that. its still going strong. i can tell that its had a bit of a front bump as there are a few panels on the wonk and the front bumper is a fibre glass item which is on its last legs. do you know what make the exhauts is?
  12. i have the cream interior in my car as well as a navan auto shifter, shagpile mats and the folding mirrors.
  13. That should have got your attention. from looking through the recepts that came with zx i bought yesterday i think i have your old car. she is a 91 h plate jspec tt auto in red the engine and box seem very strong and the bodywork seems good too- its had a respray. can you shed any more light on the car. are there any nice upgraded bits on it other than the exhaust and a remap to 95 spec. Pete
  14. or it could be detination
  15. not sure about the 300 but on the 200sx the egr removal removes a flat spot in the 2-3k region. so much so that nissan deleated it on the s14a.
  16. i have expressed an interest in pk1's car in the forsale area, and if its around when i have the money from the sale of my car i will take a serious interest. i dont want to mess anyone around without having the money first. is there anyone in the Evesham area as i would like a look over a good car. i realise it wont be much faster than a 280bhp 200 out of interest, where are you based pk1
  17. i am shortly selling my 200sx and figure that the next sensible step would be to a 300. i will have about 4k to spend. i guess what id realy like is a tt swb manual but dont think ill find one for that money ( although there is one on your board) has anyone owned both a 200 and 300, any views. i have read the buyers guide but i cannot seem to find out if rust is an issue on these cars. help would be most welcome
