1. You are not limited to a n/a diff The na uses a r200 diff, the 300 uses an R230. The 200 was used in a lot more cars like skylines and 200sxs but be aware of the back cover and abs You should pick up an n/a subframe complete for £250 which is about the cost of the driftworks kit
2. It will fit your car and delete the hicas. It will also give you a lower gear ratio and reduce the weigh a little. The diff and drive shafts are a little bit weaker and you will need to change the rear joint on the prop. If you are still running the std 2 part prop you can swap this over as long as you are not mixing up a lwb with a swb. You will need to buy the complete sub frame assembly including the suspension, diff, hubs etc
3. There is quite a good video in YouTube about 300zx brake rebuilds I seem to remember. You can't go too wrong just make sure the bores are clean and go easy on installing the Pistons so you don't pinch a seal.
4. Fantastic job, I hope to see it some time in all its glory
5. Nicely put sir. I have noticed this too, I think it's true of quite a few cars of this generation. I have been on the forum for quite a few years now and I have certainly noticed a movement away from the loud kits etc back to an appreciation of the looks that made people buy it in the first place. At the time of buying my 300 things were tight for me financially and I was lucky enough to pick up both of my 300s for very little money (the first turned out to be a rusty, bent pos that was cut into many pieces quite some time ago) The second zed I bought as an intended reshell turned out to be considerably more work than I intended as well. Getting back on point, when I started the restoration around 5 years ago there were no restoration blogs/dairies at all (I'm not claiming to be the first but I must be one of them) and now even within our club there are some outstanding rebuilds. I'm sure there will be many more and it's this new found spirt that si is talking about, I think some exciting times will be ahead. Personally for me, keeping a car and trying to finish a restoration is a little hard as we are on the other side of the world from each other. However I'm sure in years to come the jap car screen will be every bit as vibrant for people of my generation as the British car screen is for my fathers (I love old Brit cars too) and it will be great in times to come to have one of the most desirable jap models as my show car. If anyone is really interested in this type of stuff I have added a link below to an amazing build. Before the 300 I had a 200sx and I was quite active on the sxoc (hence my user name) this restoration is simply superb and the lengths this guy went to were staggering. For me the build is a little too original but you cannot fault the guy. Anyway keep up the good work guys, I think a good shout out should also go to all the guys who have kept their cars in great original condition over the years gaz300 Richard smith etc and obviously that guy with the white tt with the bbs lms  http://www.sxoc.com/petrols-comprehensive-s14a-restoration/
6. And a few other bits Some chrome interior handles And a new Z1 air filter kit I also have a set of clear side repeaters on the way to replace the ageing carrots. I guess everyone has these, they are the std eBay jobbies
7. Ok a few more updates of some new oem bit New ashtray New centre console New cubby hole And a new washer jet junction/ clip- many thanks to funkysi for this:thumbup1:
8. Is there a good link to all the original accessories?
9. Yours are the cast iron calipers which to me were a cost cutting measure. The alloy ones don't corrode like that and are lighter, don't spend the money on refurbing those. They are the same as the s14 calipers and not worth a lot. I'm sure there are plenty of people on here who would sell you a set of the alloy calipers in reasonable Nick for not to much, I think I might even have a set around somewhere in the UK. I can find out for you if you want.
10. Hey all Thinking of fitting a set of std fog lights instead of my ducts Has anyone got a set? I'm after the jdm ones with the sidelight built in I don't mind broken lenses etc as I can fit some new ones but the rest must be in good nick Help me to finish of my project:thumbup:
11. Just to confirm, Really happy with their service, shame their site is down for you guys. It would be good if they had more bits, I'll have to have a look when the site is back up
12. Yes mate, just the shifter. No complaints at all, the price was very good, the postage was cheap and quick and the product was brand new oem so I would totally recommend them. They also take PayPal which is great as buying things from Japan can be a pain The rest of the stuff came from z1 which seems to be a lot better if you choose to FedEx instead of the usps option.
13. Final bits are a couple of z spec bolt kits My timing belt cover bolts are not in the best condition and stand out like a sore thumb on my painted cover. Also the rubber washers that sit behind them are very scruffy. Maybe I'm going a little too far but this kit replaces all of the bolts (I also have some missing) with the correct shoulder bolts. They are very nicely machined in stainless and have the optional poly washers which come in multiple colours. In this case I went for the very exciting black colour. I also have a new set of plenum bolts with caps (optional throttle cover special bolt) Also in the picture is the throttle spring washer kit as mine like most fell apart when I rebuilt them
14. New rear parcel shelf I was very surprised to still be able to get this so snapped it up as my current one is not up to the std I'm hoping for inside Some odds and sods Door handle surrounds Rear sun blind clips as one of mine has broken Stereo bezel screw cover clips (no more double sided tape) Perspex strip clips Cigarette lighter surround (the bulb holder has broken on mine) New shifter bushes Oil pressure sender plug
15. All my other bits arrived today so here are some pics 99 spec centre panel And together with the rear lights New oem gear knob
16. Good idea, I'll have to take a look at mine when I'm back. I've actually got a leather repair kit somewhere too. Might be worth a try if it's not too bad. So another delivery came today, a bit more exciting than the last but just as 99 spec I've wanted a genuine set for ages and I think they are about to go out of production so I got a pair. I have a centre panel on its way from z1 on its way to match. In a months time my converted std lights will be up for sale
17. That looks tidy I agree on the rear lights though, normally I just don't like aftermarket rear lights but those actually make the car look more dated and are truly terrible. Not a hard fix though.
18. Mine is coming from here http://jdm-planet.com/product/nissan-skyline-300zx-bnr32-silvia-180sx-200sx-gtr-leather-gear-stick-shift-knob-black/ Hoping it will turn up in the next few days I might try and visit z32 zone on my next trip over there
19. There are a lot cheaper places to order an oem one from I have just ordered mine from Japan, it was about 35 delivered.
20. Thanks for the kind comments as usual guys A couple of things to start off the exciting arrivals 99spec red nose- as I have a 99 spec front end and a few other bits I thought I would go for this as well. I may actually get another nose panel and paint it up as my current panel already has the badge holes filled and would give me an option. Personally I love the red badge on a white car, maybe it just reminds me of an NSX type-r Also ordered up a set of new door/ rear window strips a while ago so here are the fronts I also ordered a new oem gear knob. I currently have a short shifter fitted but never used it, I have decided to keep the interior oem but with an improvement on materials etc in some places ( OEM + I guess :thumbup1:) so new bushes are going in my old shifter and a new std weighted shifter. Also considering an oem steering wheel, I can't really remember if the one I have is in good condition so I'll have take a look. I'll need a new centre without the Cruze control though. More to come soon in the next few days
21. I would have though this is a massive air leak. With the maf plugged in the ecu is getting a very small or almost zero signal and not allowing the car to run. With it unplugged it defaults to throttle position and tries to idle off the base map. I would guess an inter cooler pipe has popped off or similar
22. On the rhd loom you have a combined loom, one going to the starter then the other wire which powers everything else that plugs in to the power distribution box On the ltd loom I think they are separate
23. I nearly ordered one of these but damn they are expensive for what they are Nice bunch of parts
24. If the recircs are leaking externally you will have a boost leak, if they are leaking internally your turbos will be over working causing slower response and hotter intake temps
25. Wow That's very kind of you mate, I think mine is actually broken. I'll pm you
