Hi My original autobox in my 1990 NA burnt out in June and I replaced it with a recon box from a Skyline, put in by a crowd called Transmission Centre here in South Africa. That box lasted about 30km and then there was a bang, the car sort of hopped or tripped and I lost reverse and then the whole box. The garage who did the work first tried to blame me for hitting something, then eventually conceded that one of the valves had got stuck open in the box. They replaced the guts of the box again (Skyline parts again) but this time put in two valves and that effort lasted about 200km. There was a failure to change up to second even in redline, a horrible grindi…

On the way home from work this evening my dash and headlights gradually grew dimmer and dimmer the only warning lights that had come on were my hicas and antilock warnings, when I accelerated the engine was stuttering and when I turned the engine off there wasn't enough life in the battery to turn the engine over, however when I went out and tried it again about 2 hrs later it fired up straight away. Anybody had this or any idea's what it might be.

Evening folks, so I was careless and just went ahead and plonked UK spec front and rears on my Jap Z .... and now :) .... now I'm learning about wheel offsets :D See attached image. Can anyone tell me whether 20mm spacers would do it? Original front spec is 225/50/16's, 7.5J with 45mm offset replaced with 245/45/16's, 8.5J with 35mm offset Would appreciate your views. Many thanks, Alex

I have done a search on here but found nothing conclusive. When I pull off there is a sort of grinding/vibration noise, once moving it's fine. Then sometimes when I accelerate in third from a slow speed the noise is there to. Any ideas?

I have read through some of the topics on this and then the clock fix on: http://www.twinturbo.net/ttnettech/clock/clock.html In the steps to fix the clock in the link, it looks like that clock has 2 boards that need seperated? However my clock/board is one complete piece. So are the steps just the same minus the board seperation? Also wondering is there a fuse for the clock and if so which one is it as I dont see it listed in the hand manual or any of the fuse box covers? Its a UK car also.

Basically i was wondering if this was an easy task. Because i see alot of NA good condition cars go for peanuts. When i say easy i mean i know ill need alot of kit, probably a donor car, but is the engine removal precedure reletively simple. Ive only worked on renault 5's and e30's so no engines as big as these. Will it devalue the car alot also? Thanks Mark

  24. .... dam that stuff makes a mess and potentially screws up your alternator! Having serviced and cleaned the PAS pump I decided to AN the pump fittings and thought I would post in case anyone wants to do similar. Parts used on the pump were: 2 x Banjo adapter M16 to -8AN 2 x M16 x 1.5 Banjo Bolt (I could have used the originals) 4 x 3/8BSP/M16 copper washer Here are a couple of piccies... Also changed all the connections on my PAS POT to AN -8 Finally I still need to weld a -8 female bung into the PAS feed pipe so that it is completely leak proof :hyper: Then refit, re-plumb - Job done forever I hope! :)

..... without just sticking them on top of the dial pod!!! Does anybody have some pictures or suggestions of where/how to mount any rectangular shaped controllers for stuff on the Zed without shed loads of custom work? I am about to have a Tein EDFC controller fitted and will be getting Racelogic TC in the new year with the digital controller and I already have an HKS Turbo timer. All of these have different shaped Rectangular controllers that need to be mounted neatly somewhere. Round dials are no problem - rectangular ones sem to be a nightmare! I want to avoid the "pile of controllers taped to the top of the dial pod" look. Does anyone have any pictures or ex…
