Hi guys i have been reading though some of the old post regarding head gaskets and i see that you both say that its better to replace the engine or do a major strip down rather than do the gaskets if its been over heating. Now im looking to take my engine out for other work and i was thinking of doing the headgaskets while its out. I have no over heating problems at the moment and have not had any since i have had the car and as far as i know its not been done before. My question is am i better to leave alone or will it be ok to do with out having to strip the engine down any further than the head gaskets? Thanks dave

Need a bit of help here, When the car is not running i can slide throught he gears very easily. When the car is running it is quite stiff to get the gears home. I am running a Z1 shortshifter but am wondering why it is harder to change gears when the car is running? Is there something mechanical i should be checking as well as the fitting of the short shifter? Cheers

had my car back of zedword and alls been brill for days went out yesterday for a bit of a drive and it started to miss fire on cylinder 2 anyways investigating tonight and with the car cold it seemed ok and when it gets warm it started again 1500>2200 rpm but would go when pushed. does it on idle/costing no load speed checked all my cables and joins and plugs and all is good ... then i disconeced the O2 sensor on that side .. and bang no missfire and drives nice and smooth would a faulty/bad O2 sensor make a missfire PS i did read a few posts about the O2 sensor and testing it at 2000rpm as this is where it works thanks again …

I was wondering that japanese also have their local sources to find new and used cars...thing is I don´t handle japanese lenguage too well; that said..any links and info on where to find a 99 purple or any local shops specialized in Z´s in Tokyo or Japan itself?

My Zed went to the bodyshop today to be estimated for the damage, RESULT, it all checks out and can be repaired, needless to say I am over the moon, not cheap, but is repairable once it has been on a jig , and also will be ready just in time for JAE. YESSSSSSSSSSSSS :thumbup::thumbup::thumbup: :clap::clap::clap: Cheerz Chris

Ive recently replaced front discs with ebc drilled and grooved. And red stuff pads. After maybe 2 months driving ive developed a vibration at about 40mph under braking. I changed the discs and pads for brand new standard pads and discs and the problem seemed to go away. Until the other day when the vibration returned. They were only on the car for 2-3 weeks. Could this be the hub or is there something else causing the problem? Its doing ma head in and also costing me!!

Today i thought i'd start stripping down the Zed. Ive sold the engine, and a few other bits that needed to be removed. Started at 10am this morning. I was meant to be at Gayden, the biggest BMW show of the year, but as i had to work yesterday, the jobs i needed to to, didn't get done, so i missed the show. Anyway, i spent a couple of hours sorting other parts, then started on the engine. Im no mechanic, but im getting better. When ive taken engines out before, ive had 1 of 2 mates round. 1 is a proper mechanic, the other is like me, but with a bit more experience. When i stripped the last 2 328 Bmw's i had, neither were about, so i tried to take the engine out mys…

After 8 years of more or less care free motoring the car let me down today! Happily trundling along the A36 heading towards wilton classic and super car show when I noticed the temperature heading north, by the time I found a lay by about 50 yards up the road had stem pouring from under bonnet:no: Once the car cooled down I found that the plastic hose outlet or boss at the top of the rad has snapped off:mad2: so i had to use the RAC that's the first time in 9 years as well. So the car had to be brought back on a low loader and is now safe and well back in my garage. So has anybody got an ally rad i can have pretty please:blushing: here are t…

i took the power steering pump off the car and left it connected in the engine bay like i did when i did my N/A engine change. well trying to get this damn bolt lined up so i can bolt it back up is proving to be a pain in the ass, any one got any tips or is it just a case of keep going until it eventually finds its seat? The N/A didn't give me this much trouble, I've been at this now for over an hour trying to get the rear lined up to get the bolt in place.
