Gaddammit now what!!?! The Z just drained a brand new battery in 12 hours  I've always had a small current which results in the battery not being able to start the car if I leave it undriven for 5 or 6 days, but after a normal drive to work it's been fine. Been like this for years. However after being left stood for a mere 4 days over the weekend, she started ok on Monday morning (a little sluggish to start but that's to be expected), fired up and got me to work no problems - handing a 350Z it's own arse in the process ;) Anyway on the way back yesterday evening I noticed that the voltage (on my Apexi turbo timer unit) was lower than normal. Normally it…

Now , I have very little service history for this car but the last pertinent garage invoice tells me that three spark plugs were renewed in 2008, some 8000 miles ago. On a whim today, I removed three plugs (two NGK and one Bosch) to check on their condition (see photos), obviously I don't know how long the three plugs that weren't changed in 2008 have been in the car. Looking at their condition, do you think that a new set of plugs is in order and again looking at their condition, do you think that the engine is running ok? I've got a small idling problem (as many have) but the car boosts and runs very well. :D Cheers - Andy (Hope that the p…

The right tool for the job So we had to deal with a non turbo with an ABS fault, the system is essentially the same as the one fitted to the twin turbo so any fault finding is the same which ever model you have. The ABS system fitted to the zed has a very easy to use built in diagnosis so there is often no need for any specialist equipment. The self diagnoses is built into the abs ecu module and the ecu has a small led that flashes a set number of times to correspond to a particular fault code that is stored within the unit. A small drive is all that is required until the ABS warring light comes on and stays on, by pulling over and leavi…

well i thought i would start taking my zed apart today! my origanal plan was to take the engine out as i thought i had a shagged tubo or 2! Anyway i thought i would take the plenum off as im doing a water bypass and i have fitted new injector plugs and coil plugs today and while i was there i thought i would take a look at the turbo pipes etc to look for oil and im pleased to say there is very little in my pipes so im guessing the turbos are in ok condition. However it does leave me a bit confused as i was getting blue smoke on idle depending on what way the wind was blowing! lol so im hopping its due to the crap connectors on both the coil packs and the injecto…

Hi All. I'm swapping some bits from my old engine to new. I've found a few posts about installing the dipstick tube but nothing about removal?? Is it just a push fit? Any tips for getting it out without damaging it? Tips on installation would also be appreciated. BTW the engine is out of the vehicle. Cheers H
