Hi guys, spoke to Jeff this morning, what a helpful and knowledgeable chap, I'll no doubt be calling on his services before long. Anyways, the upshot is that I think I have a cam timing issue. There is some confusing info on here regarding which marks to use when installing/timing up the belt etc which is why I'm having to ask this question. If I just go by the info in the manual, the passenger side cams are both retarded by a tooth, I haven't got around to removing the driver side and lower covers yet (it's raining :( ). This is assuming that the sprocket marks should align with the index marks on the backing plate. I've attached pics (excuse the quality) of th…

Okay , my car is up on blocks for the winter ( so the tyres are not going to get flat spotted) i have waxed the living daylights out of the paintwork and tucked it up under a breathable but waterproof car cover, i will be attending to a few odd jobs over the off road period but should i change the engine oil now or wait until the summer months when it goes back on the road, same question for the brake pads front and rear, likewise is their anything else i should do to safely store up for the period ( i have also brimmed the tank and added storage stabiliser) ta Neil

Look at how much these are and the seller states there is no guarantee they will work, methinks for that money if I was selling and I tested I will confirm they work 100% all the time. Not one picture of them lit up green, disappointing is that  http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/JDM-NISSAN-FAIRLADY-Z-300ZX-GCZ32-LIGHT-UP-QUATER-GLASS-COVER-OEM-/250927053850?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3a6c6afc1a Looks like they are from a SWB as well.....rocking horse poo comes to mind but not for this type of money surely :surrender: It is no wonder I made my own :thumbup1:

Just been watching "30 minutes or less" a 2011 movie, 2 guys rob a bank and use a 280zx as the getaway car, quite good and nice to see an old Z in a modern movie :) http://www.imdb.com/media/rm2555099136/tt1622547

One of those times when doing a job just right was not enough well at least when relying on certain parts quality that should be unquestionable. So here we have a build using all new bearing, pistons, rebuilt heads, all new gaskets, brand new turbo`s, and full 60k service. oh and a manual conversion at the same time. All parts were supplied by the owner and a simply case of stripping down and rebuilding up, the engine was not damaged but the owner wanted to edge his bets a little. Following a text book fit up and the normal pre-start precautions ( priming turbo`s etc) the engine started and ran!!! but that initial "a job well done" feeling later evaporated…

I saw a grey (UK spec I think) ZX parked up on the grass on the A413 (northbound side) on Saturday morning, about 9-ish. I was heading towards Amersham in a blue ZX - I looked across but couldn't see anyone on the car (but then I wasn't driving slowly!!). Was it you - and I hope your car was OK.... Richard:cool2:

Got the Zed back back from the paintshop today. New fog ducts in, trims repainted, cowling painted and the door repainted where some c**t had keyed it. £200 which I dont think is bad? with a couple of dinks removed and little pieces touched in like the plastics on the mirrors.

As the weather looked promising, I thought I would give the Zed a bit of a run up and down the by-pass a few times. Couldn't help noticing a white VW hatch-back pick up my rear.:sneaky2: Well I will soon loose him! or so I thought.:turned: 110mph came and went and I had only pulled a slight gap!:w00t: I did not plant my foot through the gears but never the less, I did still touch 6,500rpm through each gear. Is my Zed tired or have I met my match? I thought these cars were a bit more untouchable?
