General Discussions - 300ZX Related

Hi Literally just bought a 300zx twin turbo and done a 300mile trip to get it home. I didnt notice anything at first but when i was closer to home i decided to floor it and see what the car was made of. Did about 100mph in third gear and it filled the whole road up with grey smoke!? Im guessing this is going to be bad news .......?

So today i went out to do some work on my zed with the idea being i wanted the rad out along with the air box as mines broke and a few other bits and bobs, Air box was out within a few mins but the rad took me a fair while since all the screws on the jub clips were worn down and man it was hard work any way 2 hours and 7 stitches later the rad is out and its just rotten so i need a new one which leads me onto my next question How do i remove the viscous fan as i cant get any wrench in there wich sucks lol and once thats out of the way does anyone have any really good advice regarding changing the water pump and thermostat. I would like some real in depth help if poss…

We have just removed passenger side turbo on my z, it has oil feeds but no water feeds they have been blanked, drivers side also has the pipes blanked off from the water feed side, is the other end of these water feeds on the inlet manifold? Seems to be some metal pipes welded here?? What's the reasoning for removing these water feeds?

Quick question... I want to fit the steering wheel from my old n/a into my new TT. Question is... Will it be a straight swap or does hicas mean I have to buy anything else?

A very nice surprise today to see a 300zx in sarn a small village near Bridgend. Looked totally standard on a h plate I even took a picture in shock! :-)

as above tried to get a qoutation via confused.com earlier the cheapest was £849 and when i rang for more details they said i had to many mods! what next?

Originally put this in the north west section but no joy. So just seeing if there were any convoys at all from the north/midlands that I could tag along to. It's half the fun driving to the event if your in a decent convoy. Cheers Danny

Car is currently partially drained of brake fluid after refurbishing the calipers. How much fluid will I need to replace and bleed? Will a litre bottle suffice? I can't seem to find a definitive answer searching and the manual doesn't say.

I'm looking at some godspeed sidemounts Are they a direct bolt on the to 2 inch pipework or do they need a 2.5 inch upgrade?

Hi my NA Zed recently got wrote off by a Corsa and Im looking to buy myself another but a TT. Finally got round to fitting my new scuttle panels and they look great. Took the old panels of and cleaned the metal work underneath. Then I put the new panels on the car but as the vents were a lot bigger than the original so I painted the metal behind the vent black. So new Carbon Fibre panels were fitted and they look so good against the red bonnet :yes: pics taken in the garage are not great but will take better pics when I get the wipers on (getting sprayed satin black)

Just doing a delivery in Milford on sea and seen a very tidy dark grey 300 parked up off Cornwallis road. It's weird you don't see any ones around for years then you buy one and they start popping up all around. Nice looking car, looks like its been well looked after.

Any of you looked at ebay recently for zeds? there's a few funny ones on there, especially the one with the missus lol. also ive noticed a lot of them on there have been fooked about with so much that they look awful!, however a nice old 88 one on there ;)

would the EGR threaded hole in the passenger side exhaust manifold be a good place to put the above sensor?? trying to avoid another job of welding a boss into my downpipe

Ok, still haven't got my zed back from the paint shop but seriously considering going back to a mk2 golf ( vr6 or 1.8t ), so was wondering what kinda money i could be looking at for my zed? i know it may be a bit difficult to put a price as i dont have pictures of it rebuilt after paint. Does anyone know if it's possible to test my profec b solenoid, as I'm sure its causing a boost issue I've got? The boost controller has worked perfectly since I fitted it 18 months ago, until recently. The car initially started boosting a lot higher than normal, so i adjusted the settings, which had no effect. I turned the controller off and still had the same problem. I've bypassed the solenoid now and the car is fine again, but obviously only running standard boost. The display appears to be operating okay, so is there a way of confirming it's the solenoid?

I must say, this is the first car I've owned and keep my eye on the fuel gauge as often as I do on the speedo. But you know what i wont change it for the world. :biggrin:
