Hey guys, Having trouble with the engine on my 94 Z. The engine is struggling to rev properly. When accelerating it struggles to reach/go above 2500rpm. When in neutral it will reach around 4000rpm and will start to miss/splutter pretty badly anything past that. Unfortunately I had to drive the car like this 100 miles as I was away at the time. During my drive back, the issue got steadily worse to the point where the car was struggling to hit around 1600rpm. Once the engine has cooled down, it's back to trying to get to 2500rpm. Any ideas? I have already tried replacing the MAF, PTU and disconnecting the TPS today with no effect. Cheers lads…

Carrying on from my poor brake thread yesterday http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?173545-fed-up-with-poor-brakes I came across a thread of mine from last year that shows quiet how bad the rear brake disc can get without you realising....maybe a job for the Winter eh? Jeff TT Bad brakes may not always be what you think. Case in point, a zed having multi jobs done had a reported poor brakes and the owner requested we change the front discs amd pads, this is a very common problem and blaming the front disc set up is not always the way to go, a quick inspection of the rear discs revealed much more. The rear of the discs conditio…

Another job this winter is to install front fog lights from a Japanese car. Has anyone else done this? Where is the best place to get the feed from? Don't suppose there is a how to guide on this any where? Also, how are these switched on and off in a Jap car? Thanks, Dan

Was out today at was getting a vibration at 40... assume this is the center prop bearing.. :( I have full work shop facilities, is this something i can do myself or best left to the pro's? Can it be left for a while or does it need sorting straight away? (only doing short runs at the moment, to and from the body shop about 2 miles each way) CheerZ Neil

Brakes or at least poor response is one of the few failings that most zed owners will agree on. I have posted threads before about this topic and with the focus on the rear brakes rather then the fronts but again I have been reminded with two zeds in a row over the past week or so with poor brake problem despite the owners fitting new pads and discs on the front. Yes the fronts take the major parts of the braking job, but with poor rear brakes the fronts will soon be over worked, so the rears need looking at and what the problem is. Seized calipers can and do occur on the fronts but not on the rears maybe seen it a couple of times in 14 years, so that aside…

  12. well it fixed its running problem itself.....:confused1: but still on occasion gets confused and idles at 1600-2000 rpm when warm, then after a while goes back to normal... but thats a problem for another day.... i keep getting intermittent heavy steering. used to be for a couple of turns every week or so. but recently its been a lot more common, originally thought i was cooking the fluid after it did it a few times round brands hatch, but has done it 3 mornings in a row from cold... the steering column has been off twice this year once when the sump was changed (dropped the subframe) and the other was fitting stainless manifolds. so in theory shouldn't be t…

On a pleasant Sunday afternoon while with my wife waiting to pick up my brother law from his work. My wife gets a phone call from her dad shouting to her, that a major car accident has just happened right out the front of his house and right were my beautiful Z was parked. So we rushed home to see what had happened, and when we got there it was a chaotic scene with a ford sedan laying on its side right next to my Z. The car had ran over a series of traffic signs and a small round about prior to crossing the wrong side of the road and losing control eventually hitting 2 brick fences and landing on its side. By the time we arrived there were already a couple of po…

I have no apparent leaks and i cant help think the cap isnt letting the excess water be drawn back into the rad as the system cools even though i have replaced the cap and checked the expansion tank hose and level Im pretty sure the rad should always be full. anyone else got a similar issue? or is it normal? cheers,

Ok, whilst looking at new plasma / LED clocks, I just realised that my turbo shell has KPH clocks. My NA, has MPH clocks, but a different series, long story short, I want to use the KPH turbo clocks, with the turbo gauge removed. So I figured I would need a converter, but then figured there must be one on my NA, as it's already in MPH, but my question is where? I looked for a 'How to' guide to fitting a converter, I figured that would tell me where it's fitted, but sadly nothing. Cheers!

After a hard but fairly successful season of events Bob has dropped the car off with me for a major makeover and revision. As before I just have the rolling shell. Jimmer at Power Zed has already removed the engine and box. He will be doing a strip down /inspect/replace routine on the Kyle Puckett engine. Bob has dropped the gearbox of at Advanced Motorsport engineering at silverstone for a similar strip/inspect/replace routine. The rest arrived at my place last weekend .... looking a little worse than when it left in the spring!!!! The brief from Bob is long and detailed.................. but it starts with a reinstate of the 99 spec front with splitter …

im in 2 minds about which route to take the front of my zed... its either 99 spec with fibreglass lip/ slitter or a 99 spec with a proper custom carbon splitter and canards. i have the 99 spec bumper and the fibreglass bit, and a large sheet of carbon, so either is possible. will be getting a carbon bonnet, and have a twinZ rear diffuser/bumper (thanks again mark :thumbup1:) and a very large spoiler. so its a function over form car really, so the proper splitter would work better as i have enough carbon to give it a complete flat front. i just like my over one as well. (this is used on tracks frequently) opinions please..... (dont be t…

Looked outside this morning, seemed strange not seeing the old girl in the back yard..........coz yesterday I dropped her off at Lee Dents place for some work, well I say some work but there is quite a list. The brief is make it fast and shiney so we will see what happens, I'm really looking forward to the results. Good to finally meet Lee and his family after a few chats on the phone.
