Hi all, I need to do head gasket on the old girl. I know the best way is to pull the engine but I haven't got the space to do it. I'm on a small drive with no rear access so everything has to stay in car or go through house to shed :( I see from the online manual that it can be done with the engine in but was wondering if anyone on here has actually done it and what, if any, problems they had. not had much time to drive car yet cas when i did drive it over to my brothers garage for mot the first junction when i placed my fooy on the floor the pedal deisapeard and i lost my brakes ,but hey thats been rectified fitting new brakes pipes everywere. But i noticed that althought the clutch wasnt sliping parsay it didnt seem to go into like first gear smooth like i had to dip the clutch again to get it in. When i had some other work done on the car back in the summer, i did aske for the clutch to be bleed but this might well have been missed due to other things going on. and prior to that i replaced the clutch master cylinder and the slave cylinder and im no machanic…

Hi, I have an issue which is worrying me at the moment concerning my build with the following major items. Wiseco pistons, eagle rods. cometic HG, Z1 GT675 turbo kit. Had a reputable machine shop do some machining for me and took delivery yesterday for starting the assembly. I asked for the block to rebored to suit my 88mm Wisecos as well as the decking of the block to be trued and finished (AR50) for Cometic (.045"/1.2mm) mls head gaskets. All looked good until I checked to see that I got my original block back by checking the engine numbers and ...well the engine numbers are very feint to gone and worried that too much has been taken off. Any suggestions here…

Was working on the zed for about 4 hours today and all I did was get the exhaust off ! Going on from my zed being on axle stands for 6 months thread, I took another bash at getting the exhaust off today and after many cuts and bruised knuckles its finally free. In the end its just brute force and some rust penetrating spray to ease the bolts out. When it finally broke free I discovered the right back box was actually damaged and is not so far from falling off its hooks too. Its a big bloody thing as it came off my last zed and as far as I was told is a custom build. Anyways here's some pics of the beast :

Have been asked about the H1 main beam headlight bulb replacement a couple of times recently and also saw some confusion here about the H1 type due to it been fitted into an adapter before fitted to the headlight. So took a few pics and hopefully will help expain what you need to know about changing the bulb and understanding the adapter. So pic one shows the rubber cover in place, picture two shows how to release the bulb holder from the headlight by pinching the two small "wings" in at the bottom. After having a look under the car and getting the battery out I have determined the source of the leak, and thankfully it's not the manifold. It appears that the leak is from the pipe union. I managed to remove the battery then connect it up with some jump leads and run it. couldn't really see much coming out of it, but I could get my hand in and feel it. The pipe was black around the leak which was a big giveaway too. So what is the best way to remedy this, and how much has to come apart in the process. Is there any preventative maintenance or even upgrades which would make sense to get done at the same time? There is a video I too…

I have just cleared out the garage so the Z can be stored for winter. My question is, what steps do I need to take as I will only use it rarely if at all over the coming months? never stored a car before so just wondering if I need to disconnect battery? remove any fuses? ect.... Any help appreciated Thanks :)

Mine have never worked, I think the pump is broke on mine as can't hear it working, are they supposed to spray with every spray of the windscreen washers? Thanks, Dan

Is it a reasonable DIY job to remove and refit the rear windscreen? Or is it something better left to a professional? I have a patch of rust that I want to sort over the winter and it's unfortunately right on the edge of the rear screen. I'd rather take it out so I can make sure there's none lurking beneath the rubber. Any advice? Or would I be better off trying to source a rust-free bootlid...?

So today I made the long trip south to Wokingham to meet Rob.aka Boomin 33. I went to buy something from him not related to his 2+2. He also needed a starter to get his car running. Rob tempted me down with a good deal so I could "help" him get the car fired up. So we dragged it outside . Jacked it up . swapped the starter. fiddled with a bit of a loose wire... AND............................. It fired up within 15 secs!!!!! I was next to the engine when it did . No rattles or knocks. Not even a tappy lifter. Settled down remarkably quickly given that it hasnt run in two years. At the rear only steam from the exhaust as you would expect on a cold mornin…

Today I actually got round to checking the purchase over,After running her up for around 20 mins and not seeing anything untoward, Me and Al went for a little drive. Needle on Temp gauge halfway,heater nice and hot.gave it a bit of welly (Iv'e missed that!) no vapour/smoke, needle still halfway........... Got her back in the Garage and felt around the pipes etc and could actually touch them and the radiator!-couldn't do this on the last Z without Hospital treatment after lol! So initial findings are.........well nothing! This is looking to be a Genuine 30,000 mile car with the sweetest sounding engine I have had in a Z, will do a pressure check tomorrow as a matt…

Been trying to get the front windscreen washer going with no luck. The rear seems to be working but the front doesn't even make any noise. Does anybody please have any ideas.. Trying to get hold of another bottle but don't really fancy taking it all out.

My new zed arrived this week, its a TT, manual, LWB. Plenty of work to do on her including needing a new engine but it will keep me busy over winter. It's a very solid shell, needs a bit of body work doing & a new interior. Hoping to get her on the road next summer. Currently putting together a big list of parts needed.

Recently, the door lock on the driver's side (left hand side - EU) has broken. The key goes in and spins 180 degrees without doing anything. I've gone to the official Nissan repair shop and they told me a small part had broken inside the door that holds the lock in place. The bad news was that they were unable to get it or even find a part number for it, so I looked for it on the online parts database and ordered two separate parts that I thought were right from Germany. They weren't, so now I took a picture of the part in question in the hopes that someone here will be able to recognize it and hopefully provide the real part number. Started the year blending in the sides of the veilside body kit to the , yes you guessed it the side of the car,after spending what i thought was going to be a day,but it took four and a half days weilding up the sills and floor, now solid. deleated and blanked of the front side indicator out of the front wing and made a new hole and fitted a honda pelude rear bumper light to the front side of the front valence.Got my headlamp striped and got the plastic inserts sent away to be chromed, and whilst i had them open i decided to have a play and put chromed amber indicator bulbs in them. sent my alloys away to be powder coated in satin black. Hi all, I'm booked in for a track day in december at Goodwood, but the day has a limit of 98dB. I was a little worried I would struggle with the noise, even though I wouldn't call my Z loud by any means. The left side exhaust put out 99dB and the right side put out 101dB. I'm glad I went along to have it checked so at least I know before the event, but I don't think there's much I can do, 3dB doesn't sound a whole lot but it's actually quite a bit to chase in terms of cost. Looks like I'll be taking my dad's rather docile RX8. Unless anyone has some magical tips?? Cheers all

I have an idea that i want to do in the spring. i would like to puchase a double din sterio with the norm stuff sat nav ect . And rear parking cam , But i would want to poss change the little cam and position it so its forward facing so i can look at the hight of speed bumps round my way and then laters moving it so i can do what ever with it. could this be done easy anoth me thinks.

What double din head unit model do you have in your motor cas it looks nice and does it have sat nav and reversing cam.

Hi everyone, as the title suggest, will 200sx s14 adjustable tensions arms fit a zed?.. It seems like they will but if anyone knows anything fro sure would be grand. Going to tackle the camber arms later and see fi I can get them to fit and then pick some tension rods up to fix the caster issue. Then hopefully happy driving will be restored in time for winter....... Best, William.

Is there a specail way to bleed these cars and especally now when ive just spent the last two days in replacing 80 percent of the brake pipes. is there a bleed niple under the hood as well on the wing or is that a clutch one? cheers
