General Discussions - 300ZX Related

My heap of about to be scrapped junk of a ZX has just left me stranded on the A14 near Cambridge! No idea at all what's wrong with it, just started coffin, spluttering, misfiring and cutting out! Have checked all connections under the bonnet and it's not overheating and I've got a 5 yr old in the car aswell! I'm really pissed off with this car at the minute coz it's just one thing after another! Any ideas? Anyone In Cambridge? Paul the fuming!

Probably been said before. I've read that the BMW E31 brembo's are basically the same as a R33 GTR's. Also the STI's 2005-2007 fit the Z32? Are there any other calipers that fit?

I have an original Compact Disc Player installed. My problem is that it will not play an entire disc in one session. It will manage to play 10 or 11 tracks of any given disc before faltering and eventually stopping altogether. After that it will not respond to anything other than disc in and disc out. The funny thing is, if I leave it and try again tomorrow it will do the same again! Any ideas?

Well it's been away getting some paint and repairs, brought it back on Friday and its looking a bit better now! Made a start refurbishing the wheels and the rears look like new now. A few more plans before she visits some shows, mainly a twin turbo engine and a manual gearbox :whistling:

hi guys, was hoping someone could help me with my zed. I have purchase a twinturbo recently .. unfortunately at idle an low revs the car has a slight missfire , I believe it is the front left as it makes no difference to the running when its unplugged. I have checked an cleaned all wires and spark plug seems ok (maybe even abit dry) I switched the coilpack over but the fault stayed on same cylinder. the car pulls on all 6 when I plant my foot an is faster than ever tt zed I have previously driven ;) this led me to the injector area, again I cleaned all the wires etc and made no difference an it seemed to be ticking like all the others with the ear…

Hi guys,so it seems like i got all the air out of the system but,from the hard pipes to the inlet of the rad the water is mad hot,but the water in the rad is stone cold,do you guys think it might be the water pump,Also when i have the car running i get warm air in the cab but when i turn off the car and just have the ignition on it goes cold again after 5 seconds.And help or advise would be fantastic guys.And thanks:helpsmilie:

Hi all , About to change the big end shells and I would like to check if the rod bolts must be replaced. I am assuming yes, but if they can be safely reused then I will. If they need replacing, what's the best uk source please? Thanks M

can you have a spun bearing with out engine knock? im wondering if that's what's causing my idle issue, i have been through the service manual, doing the diagnostics as they suggest, compression is fine, timing is fine, injectors are fine, no air leaks, coil packs are fine, getting a spark, CAS is fine, PTU is fine, loom is fine, running out of things to check, just wondering if a spun bearing would cause idle issues as it grinds it self down on the crank. i dont have engine knock. but that might not arrive until a later date with a spun bearing.

Hiya folks, fitting powder coated water pipes and thought I'd change the thermostat while at it since I was in there, so the originals are aparently rated 76.5 degrees, as was the replacement I bought, but the one that's in the car is rated 62 degrees , another reason for changing it was when driving the car the heaters are pretty shit and temp dips quite a bit until idling then it rises to around the half way mark (normal) making me think it may be ****ed and jammed open, but now seeing the temp rating on it makes sense and visually there's buggerall wrong with it, il test it in hot water and all that but just thought I'd ask you lot what temp thermostats ya use and if a…
