General Discussions - 300ZX Related

Am i right in thinking that on a UK car having the handbrake on very lightly (ie 1 click or whatever is required to make the light come on on the dash) stiffens the rear shocks? Am i also right in thinking american and possibly jap cars have a button for this instead? So thus the next question is can anyone see any problems with me installing a switch to pretend the handbrake is lightly pulled. I was thinking of putting it on the right hand console where the light diming button is. Any thoughts? Just seems really lame with the.. "Oh im just gunna pull the handbrake up a bit to make my suspension better!" Thanks Rob:)

has n e body got dump valves fitted,theirs never n e mention of them,id like to get some but the best quote ive had so far was £400 from se nissan there must be a cheaper place,id like to spend about £200 so is there n e one who can help please?????

can anyone give me an idea how much the pc conzult kit costs.

How is the paintwork on a Z? I'm gonna be loking at a few with the intention of buying one, probably a 50-60k miles import. Should the paintwork be spotless (give or take a stone chip or two), or should i be expecting to see some cracked paint or a few blemishes? Come to think on it... where are the most common rust spots. I've heard about the rear sills but are there any others that are "to be expected"? I guess the floors in the Z's are pretty solid?

Got myself a set of: Plasmaglow xenon/crypton HB3 9005 100W x 2 bulbs Plasmaglow xenon/crypton HB4 9006 80W x 2 bulbs Just offered these up to my UK model zed and how different could they be. They have got similar 2 pronged connectors but thats as far as they go. Was looking forward to some bright blue lights but me thinks these are not the right fit!!! Anyone seen these before?? Are they Jap or USA spec or am I just missing something. A wise man seeks advice before breaking something!!! They also have an L-shaped plastic assembly with a 3 pronged plastic bayonet style fixing. :confused:

I have got a TT Auto Import started getting a misefire and cutting out a few weeks ago which turned out to be the PTU, put a new on and great for about a day over took a lorry today then the car started misfiring between 1k and 3k rpm but no problem with foot flat to the floor , everytime i came to a junction the car would stall but restart straight away as long as the revs were kept high no easy feet trying to keep the revs above 1k so you can pull away in an auto, any bodies ideas and helpful suggestions would be appreciated , this also happened just after i filled up with fuel , and i did put the right fuel in = optimax :confused:

i get very nervous about an engine rebuild, cos i hestitate whether the engine will still be weak. cos if oyu replace some parts then you just put extra strain on the other non-replaced parts of the engine. is this just paranoia? and i can think of a rebuild as nearly as good as a new engine? cheers guys steve

Here's an interesting one... How many of you on here like the 300zx the way it was built, ie stock! or am I the only one that bought one because I think it already looks great!! and Nissan got it just right. Seems that an awfull lot of owners seem to buy a Zed, start by tearing off all the bits that make it look like a Zed and replace everything with considerably different looking panels, wheels etc.. ending up with something that resembles a Kit-Car!!! PS, this is just for fun, so please don't take it too seriously or turn it into a war!! :D :D :D :D

Right, what's the reservoir on the left (standing at the front looking into the engine bay) of the engine block, near the front? It's opaque, has a little dipstick in the cap, and appears to be full of oil - I'm confused because the engine oil dipstick is elsewhere, and looking at the online manual, the oil filler cap is on the engine block :S It grabbed my attention while I was messing with bulbs, because the hose leading down from it looks like it's experienced some leakage at the top - looks like it just needs the jubilee clip-esque thing tightening, but I always worry about *over* tightening, plus it's more scary looking than a plain jubilee clip :/ I checked t…

Bought my car 4 weeks ago and the PTU went up the creek but the car was driven about 500 miles or so with a misefire causing the cat light to come on etc etc anyway to cut a long story short its now fixed :D would the misfiring cylinder/s have caused damage to the spark plug/s concerned

For those of you with Imports - has anyone sorted their insurance out online and not had the option - ie on those pulldown menus - to "admit" to having an import? Does that mean you have to phone? Or that they dont care :D ?! pissed off, heard back from flacon concerning my poorly zed and compression test showed the following cylinder 1 = 105 psi cylinder 2 = 64 psi cylinder 3 = 52 psi cylinder 4 = 12 psi cylinder 5 = 15 psi cylinder 6 = 75 psi the cams have picked up as well apparantly. certainly a complete rebuild and also advised to get my new turbos checked. this car is a fookin nightmare, i have already spent 6k in april. i dont see the point of a rebuild as i just wont have the confidence in the car, but a new engine from nissan is 5683 quid. i see that coutesy are cheaper, have anyone of you bought one from courtesy or know anyone who has. big problem will b…

HI please tell me this is not one of them(clicky forum), as i used to own a gtir and for a bunch of blokes it was really bitchy and soon got p-off with them, you seem to be pretty helpful and a good bunch of lads, but about this petrol thread, i was told one thing and some of you say another, i really dont care, we all have one thing in common, fast cars like the ones we drive (zx300), so why worry about it and lets all just get on.:p :p

Great site. My first visit. My problem: the heating (A.C.) on my car starts going cold after a while. This seems to be because the ambient temperature reading goes very high (40degrees +) The A.C. seems to think the car is warm and therefore shuts of the heating. I guess I could cure this if I could find where the temperature sensor is for the ambient temp. Any ideas anyone?
