General Discussions - 300ZX Related

Will 7x17" fit onto a standard Zed or do the arches require modding.

Where do you guys get your parts from including mods and standard.

how can you tell which hydraulic lifters are faulty in the zed engine? is there a simple test or do you have to replace them all? cheers steve

Anyone actually taken out any storage insurance for their 300?? Anyone knows which insurance companies offer it??? Reason for asking is, I am hopefully, fingers crossed, collecting my first Z on Thursday (small dance of celebration as its taken nearly 6 months to get it!!!). It needs some work doing so is off to the workshop. Once mechanically sorted it'll come home whilst I sort out some bodywork mods and get it painted. So I dont really want to lash out on full blown cover when I aint gonna be driving it for a few months. Besides, it doesnt have an alarm or immobiliser fitted at the moment so I'll end up with a crap quote anyway, hence the storage insurance id…

How do Does anybody know how to fix the timer .... i thoughtthere might be something inside the switch .... I stripped it down . cleaned all the contacts and put an extra bit of preload into the springs .... everything looks intact with in the unit ????? Any body any ideas .... Oh yeah and the wipers do not go whenever u hit the button for the water Cheers Scottieeee

Does anyone have a clue as to why this stupid light ( red "lights" symbol to left of steering wheel) keeps illuminating when i break ? its starting to send me mad, i have checked and both lights and spoiler are fully functional ???? arrgh:mad: :confused:

Hi, I have a slight problem with my sidelights, the ones with the indicators nearest the wheels. When I have my headlights on and turn on my indicators the sidelights illuminate, and stay on although they don't flash with the indicators, and when the indicator goes off so does the sidelight! The sidelights don't come on with indicators when I have the headlights turned off! Its confused me just explaining it! Mark

I fixed that dam sticking petrol flap. Very simple but not as it should be. After taking out the interior passenger side of the boot and taking off the flap. I unbolted the switch expecting to find some sort of adjusting screw or bolt - but no.... nothing in site. So I though right lets cheat. I got out a sharpe knife and carved a few thick slices of the plastic off. Now it works first time every time. Also fixed mt Targa bits that are supposed to pop up when you take the panels off. Mine were seased so I gave em a good seeing to and them bolted them back. What purpose do these serve ? Did a few other bits but I'm sure you are bored enough.

How safe do you think I can go my 300tt that has 127500 miles had turbos done around 90000 miles. Do you think just fit a air filter and a exhaust or can I up the boost a bit. I think just a air filter and exhaust is my safe bet. jay P.S. this is when I have sorted out my bushes and sills + clutch:eek:

G'Day just got my Z about a month ago (new rears then) But i got a prob with the remote central locking ...... When u deactivate the alrm immob .... something inside the door clicks .. like a solenoid !!!! The door do not unlock ... if u use the key the central locking operates on the 2 doors !!! like it should ... i think that the previos owner must have disconnected it as when the engine runs for about 30 secs the same noise comes from the door ..... do toad alarms auto lock doors ? if so how do u disable this feature ....... i am assuming that the solanoid is siply a bar not connected up Any ideas Much appreciated Scottieeeeeee

So who are the tried and tested BEST engineers for doing internal engine work on the zed? This means that you take your zed to their workshop and they do all the work there and dont farm some of the work out to others. It would be best to hear from you guys who have first hand experience and not "my mate had an engine done etc". cheers guys your input is much appreciated steve

Hi all, I currently have K&N air filters in my standard boxes. I want to swap this for a blitz induction kit. Racelogic are sold out as are GPS. Anyone know where else may have one ?. I'm after either Blitz or Apexi. Thanks

The locks on my Z are all pretty stiff. Just wondering how hard it is to change the locks on a Z? I really have no idea what the task involves. :cool: Rob
