Hi guy, A number of u might remember when i first joined the forum, my Box went Bang! I got it reconed from this guy 4 £1750 with No oil cooler upgrade-just straight recon. Anyway for over 6 months the box has been acting erratic, jumping up to 6000rpm when on the motorway, extreme late change from 1st to 2nd.... Another, rather odd noise, started happening soon after... a tapping noise when coming to a halt and would dissapear if i put the car into Neutral:confused: Some of the fellas from here suggested that it could be the 'parking pawls'. But get this: its in the same garage right now - the guy is saying it not the parking pawls an…

Whose got an SE exhaust? What do you think of it? I am thinking of having one with the additional centre silencers to keep the noise down (replacing my existing scorpion cat back) but it's mucho pesetas. Is there anyone else who makes a SS exhaust (2.5in) with centre silencers, pref straight thru type with mufflers, not too loud. My Z is already decatted (SE downpipes), with larger turbos so noise is up on std. Powerflow only go up to 2.25 inch I think? Scorpion, mongoose and others do not do a straight thru muffler or centre silencers. Can it be more expensive to make a straight thru xorst with mufflers rather than the baffle type? Your thoughts …

Hello again folks! I've finally got a job again, so I'm back to surfing the web most of the day. Good news, because there's about 9 months of forum posts to catch up on. The bad news is that the job is in Reading and Maidenhead, and I live in Bristol. Can anyone guess my fuel bill for 1000 miles of commuting a week? So the Z has got to go and I'm going to buy an Audi A4 diesel instead (not sure you guys should be laughing or crying at this, feel free to make your own choice) The car is an 89 Jap-spec import, twin turbo auto, totally standard except for the necessary autobox oil cooler and import conversions. It has done 85k ish miles, has black leather s…

here's a good one, i asked my local Nissan dealer to do my tracking (Grantham) and they said i should ring the local Honds dealer since they might be able to do it, so i rang them and they said they could if the local Nissan dealer would lend them the special tool for locking the back wheels (due to the HICAS) which the local Nissan dealer responded that they didn't have such a tool. Ahhhhhhh! so i took the Z to a local tyre place who reckoned they could do the 4 wheel tracking, and the car is even worse that before now............ so my question is, where do you lot take you're Z's to have the tracking done (ideally a response from anyone Lincolnshire based would be good…

Following on from an earlier thread I read that poly urethane bushes might be noisier than std. Is this true and why? I am soon to fit a set. They are firmer than std but does that mean rock hard. I already have lowered springs, and run on 19's. Cheerz

Hi, Got four sets of heads from Two engines, in the workshop! I noticed that they have different valves in them! On the larger valves, one set of heads has EG stamped on them and on the other set of heads it has 40 stamped on them! Are these just a change in the OEM valves? Mark

Can anyone tell me if the inlet camshafts have any form of keyway on them, if not hows the best way to time them as i dont have the rocker covers off. Am about to replace the camshaft seals, the exhaust cams have 4 bolts on them so thats no problem to mark when taking off the pulley wheels. Any help appreciated Cheers John Crisp

Sounds like a daft question right? The problem is i'm not sure what my zed has had done to it and I'd really like to know. That way I can plan further upgrades or at least start worrying that my car's going to blow up. I think most of the work was done in Japan. When it was advertised, the seller was talking about it having high 300's in terms of bhp (@ the crank) and apparently it has been rolling road tested in the past. I haven't seen any dynographs though so... I know for a fact it has: Kakimoto single exit racing exhaust Dump Valves (god knows what make, can't see them and don't know where to look!) HKS Turbo Timer Alledgedly it also has…

This is for all you manual or (stick for you yanks) boys and girls out there. I can confirm that if you are experiencing clutch slip due to power increase mods(I am currently at Stage III), adjusting you clutch does have a positive affect and will give you a few more months of pleasure before having to fork out a wedge of cash on you upgrade. However, don't be a silly ninny like me and adjust it the wrong way and end up in a car park at 7am correcting the mistake. D'oh. Advice. Making the adjustment is very easy, however, most of the tech articles talk about turning the spindle clockwise or anti-clock wise. However, due to the fact that you are in a, on-…
