Can anyone tell me if the inlet camshafts have any form of keyway on them, if not hows the best way to time them as i dont have the rocker covers off. Am about to replace the camshaft seals, the exhaust cams have 4 bolts on them so thats no problem to mark when taking off the pulley wheels. Any help appreciated Cheers John Crisp

Sounds like a daft question right? The problem is i'm not sure what my zed has had done to it and I'd really like to know. That way I can plan further upgrades or at least start worrying that my car's going to blow up. I think most of the work was done in Japan. When it was advertised, the seller was talking about it having high 300's in terms of bhp (@ the crank) and apparently it has been rolling road tested in the past. I haven't seen any dynographs though so... I know for a fact it has: Kakimoto single exit racing exhaust Dump Valves (god knows what make, can't see them and don't know where to look!) HKS Turbo Timer Alledgedly it also has…

This is for all you manual or (stick for you yanks) boys and girls out there. I can confirm that if you are experiencing clutch slip due to power increase mods(I am currently at Stage III), adjusting you clutch does have a positive affect and will give you a few more months of pleasure before having to fork out a wedge of cash on you upgrade. However, don't be a silly ninny like me and adjust it the wrong way and end up in a car park at 7am correcting the mistake. D'oh. Advice. Making the adjustment is very easy, however, most of the tech articles talk about turning the spindle clockwise or anti-clock wise. However, due to the fact that you are in a, on-…

HI all , sorry if I appear to be getting above myself as a junior member etc , but seeing the recent threads about M3's , Sklarks etc vs the Z , I thought I'd throw a few thoughts in. Like most of you I have owned shedloads of cars , at the age of 37 insurance doesn't affect me too much these days. In the last 3 years I've had 2 M3's , 2 Cossies ( Escort/Saff) , An Audi s4 , blah blah blah. The reason I now drive the Z is down to one thing...they damn sexy looking pimp mobiles! The others were maybe better engineered cars...well definiteley , but didn't float the proverbial boat visually , and the Z aint no slouch , as you all know. Sorry to preach to the con…

Am I correct in thinking, If you put a Jap speedo, including the electrics attached to it which moves the needle, into a UK dash, the speedo will then start working in KPH. I.e. if I was doing 50mph will the Jap speedo show 80KPH in a UK dash? Stuart

I have an oil leak on my 300 from the passenger side front of the engine that drips onto the a/cond pump. Tomorrow i am gonna replace the cam seals but i cant actually see where the oil is coming from. Would the leak possibly be coming from the head gskt from the oil galleries to the rockers or maybee am i right in thinking the cam seals are leaking. Has anyone noticed where in the block the oil galleries are, my thinking is if the galleries in the head are at the outside of the block face then thats where my leak is. Any help appreciated Cheers John Crisp

Hi all, I had new front tyres fitted to the Z today and it was a high performance tyre speciallist who did it for me. After messing about trying to get one of his trolley jacks under the car I finally got the tyres done. I asked if they could do the tracking for me and without any hesitation they said NO:mad: Sorry mate it's a specialists job on one of those!! I have also tried 3 or 4 other places and they all give me the same response. Is this right?? is it a specialists job or is it that they can't be bothered. What are your experiances with tracking and can someone like ATS do it??? Cheers Glenn

Guys i have used motorup in my previous two cars and the motorup made a great difference. The car revved more freely, felt smoother and fuel economy improved. My Subaru i had for prox 10,000 miles and the motorup worked well and in the EVO same again i had for 10,000 miles no probs. I think if you use it for long periods of time there may be probs, but in the short run its fine. My Z is arriving from Japan in March and i was going to put some MOTORUP in that but now im unsure.mmmmmmmm Ray

Quick Question does it matter which way round the plus and the minus go on the injectors it just that some tit before me cut all the injector connectors off and replaced them with little individual connectors which keep falling off and touching each other etc. anyway ordered some new ones from Courtesy and the plus which i presume would be the thicker of the two wires is the other way round on the connector so i have a thick plus wire going in to a thin plus wire on the connector and a thin minus wire going on to a thick minus wire on the connector Confused:confused: would this be ok or can i swap them over (thick to thick) (thin to thin) sorry if th…

Anyone know of a good garage/engineer in Teesside (or surrounding area) that has dealt with 300ZXs? I'm just looking for someone who I can trust to help as/when needed! I'm happy enough to go further afield on recommendation, say to Newcastle, but local would be best. Ta, StuartR
