Right, having just totalled £134   in petrol receipts since last wednesday, and got off the floor and calmed down I think it would be cheaper to run a £300 Escort or something on third party insurance only, to run as a daily driver instead of the Zed. Obviously I've been cruising around more than the average week at work but still :( Do all ins companys do this ie not fire or theft but TP only? Got the Mondeo but want something a lot cheaper to run and insure. Cheers for any advice Pete

Obviously i would pay you for your time but its just i didn't want to buy a knackered one. i was looking for a manual TT with t bar roof and i have £5500 to spend also what sort of price do you think the insurance would be on an import im 22 with 3 years NCB

Hi, I am sure I heard on TT.net that there was a difference in PTU's between the different models! Did this apply to the UK models or just the USA recall on the Series I PTU's? Mark

I posted on TwinTurbo.net about my coolant loss problem and some of the guys on there seem to think that a cacked thermostat could be the problem. Can any of you EXPERTS enlighten me on the symptoms or problems you would experience if your thermostat was Dicky Davis or KO'd? TIA

Reading some posts - or just living in the 21st Century - sometimes it seems that every business there is is trying to rip us off. But I just found out that there are official people whose job it is to help us out. They're called Trading Standards and to find your local one just look at http://www.tradingstandards.gov.uk/ I'm having a barney with a third-party who did some work on my ZX. They're saying it's someone else's fault. So I called my Trading Standards people and they told me what to do. There is such a thing as "Breach of Contract". Many things can cause this - one of which is "failing to use reasonable care and skill". And - if you pa…

First off - never get anything on credit you can't afford. It'll all end in tears - so don't. But if you have paid over £100 for something with your credit card (not debit card or charge card), then you have a comeback if it goes wrong. Under Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act 1974, the credit card company is "equally and severally liable" if there is a breach of contract on a sale. For example if you pay over £100 for mechanical work on your motor and there is a breach of contract (late delivery, departure from agreed work, not reaching agreed specs etc), the credit card company is just as liable as the company who let you down. So if the company won't cough…

Greetings, fellow carbon-based bipeds, if any of you who are coming to the Essex meet this Sunday have one of the ZCentre's OEM look-alike spoilers fitted, can you let me know. I've seen these fitted really well (e.g. Jeff TT's) but would like to do a side-by-side comparison. TIA - Gio

Z recently went into *****wood Nissan Tunbridge Wells (who I have been using for years) for manual gearbox oilchange. Next day from cold: difficult gear selection, horrible dry bearing noise, bearing rattle from box. After much deliberation (they almost changed the clutch)they put "a lighter oil "in, cured first two problems instantly , still rattles on cold start which wasn't there when it went in ... "oil was within Nissan parameters sir"...... What should the oil grade have been before I take legal advice???

91 Uk Spec Auto 101K has been leaking what seemed to me a silicone type of substance. fairly clear but very viscous from center rear of the car over the last 2 days Thought it may have been a rear bushing as I had just done my front ones recently which seemed to seep the same type of substance. Dropped to mechanic who confirmed it was the rear difff seal had gone. Anyone know where to get these and how much. I would have thought the Diff oil would have been much darker?? Help appreciated Roy

Does anyone know where I can get these from as one connector (left one of two, on front of engine - think its the cooling fan) is missing and the connector pulls of really easily. I did a search on the forum and found posts about making them out of paperclips or pianostrings (WTF?!). Can they be bought from Nissan? Has anyone bought any? Cheers Pete

Anyone got any tips or had experince with blowing in the down pipe area? Me and mechanic bud put the beast on a ramp , he reckons to locate the blow/hole will be a pig of a job due to the heat shield that surrounds he pipes. Its a single pipe 6" at the back if that makes any difference. Also does anyone recommend any where for mail order exhaust systems as I think the whole thing may be toast soon? Cheers Dil:rolleyes:

Sold my MR2 turbo and pick up my new Z on Sunday. Yipee Z is from a dealer and has 2 faults: gurgling noise from front wing behind dash on idle and slight rumble noise from rear drive shaft area at 4000rpm (noise only lasts a couple of seconds) Dealer says he will try to fix but cant be sure whether the faults can be located. Other than that the car is beautifull: Cherry Red, 5 spoke split rim alloys, tinted glass, full leather just in from Japan with 40000 miles If he cant fix the faults should I go ahead - the car drives really well - seems a lot faster than the MR2 Turbo Also the A/t light on dash doesnt work Car is 1991 H reg at £4500:rolleyes: :r…

I was driving back home from my mums at Leeds to Harrogate the other night when I came up behind some traffic on an A road. Remember my auto box only has 1st and 2nd gears at the moment ;) I blasted past the 4 or 5 cars in front at about 70mph almost at the red line in 2nd (!) and to my suprise the car behind me followed me then on the next straight roared past. It was a nice silver Supra with a huge HKS exhaust that sounded the biz! Just my luck - I've never come up against one on the road in 3 years and now my box is shagged! I kept up with him as the road is fairly twisty and you can't do much over 70 anyway and we blasted past loads of other cars until h…
