I am looking into buying a 91 300ZX TT Auto Import. I am going for a test drive at the weekend (weather permitting) and wanted to get some advice from people that have been there before. I am aware of the usual checks you carry out on any used car (and this is obviously not 'any' used car). What I wanted is some 1st hand advice. When you bought your cars what did you wish you had checked? What things should I look for? etc etc etc. Don't want to buy a pony now do I! Cheers all :)

The garage that sold it said unleaded is fine, but is premium unleaded better? (2) what oil is best for the engine? (3) where i can pick up a new or refurbished electric aerial? Any help and i will be eternally grateful. regards ian.

I've been told that the wiring in 300s is not what it should be. Now given the fact that these cars have lots of wiring, could it be that this is the single greatest cause of problems in these cars.... ...over to Andy Duff...........

Chaps/Chapesses, This morning, I set out for work as normal, and everything goes tits-up! First off, I thought, hmmm, steering feels a bit heavy, and the speedos up to its usual trick of not really doing anything 'til warm (worse on cold mornings) ... then the HICAS light comes on ... oh well, top it up, I thought. Once the car's warm and the speedos working again, the HICAS light disappears and PS is fine:confused: Anyhow, then get some petrol, join the M20, accelerate up to 90-ish (overtaking Scooby;) ), then there's a jolt, and I'm slowing down - coasting in fact - Shite! No life from engine. Pull on to hard-shoulder, call AA, freeze my nuts o…

Further to reading a comment about the '99 bumper and the size of number plate I thought I'd investigate, here's what i found: The Road Vehicles (Display of Registration Marks) (Amendment) Regulations 2002 SI No. 2687 Characher height = 65mm Character width = 44mm (excluding 'I') Stroke = 10mm Verticle spacing between lines of characters = 5mm Space between, top and lateral edges of plate = 5mm Space between characters and bottom of plate = 13mm So, that means you can make a very small plate indeed! But, be prepared to fight if you get stopped because the regs state: (a) does not have European Community Whole Vehicle Type Approval; and …

Inside the front bumper grille is a wire that runs to a little black block. This in turn sits on a rusty/chrome stirp which is bolted to hte underside of the black plastic grille. Is this the ubiquitous exterior temperature sensor???? Nick

Finally got the front bumper off last night and noticed there appear to be 2 washer bottles, one on drivers side & one on pass side. The drivers side is full and works, apparently for the windscreen but what does the bottle on the passenger side do as this one is empty and dry as a bone??? Nick

Just a word to the wise recently got fed up with the tatty state of the front bumper on my 1990 TT jap import. Asked Nissan for a new one and was told they could not supply. apparently the 99+ front bumper is now "original" spec. Called insurers with this "modification and had to fight like a git until they saw my point. They even called Nissan to find out if I was lying or not (trust is a beautiful thing), So if your old front bumper is bad, get a 99+ style. It cannot be classed as a modification, new laws on plates mean that you get a nice small front number plate and the 99+ bumper looks the balls. Nissan just get it so right sometimes. Just thought…

Do I replace the first 3 solenoids??? She is a Jap spec SWB Jan 1994 series 3 car. Are the solenoids in the Jap autobox different to the UK spec solenoid? Thanks Roy
