Hey all I've fitted a Stillen intake this afternoon :D but had trouble actually fitting it in the space. My zed's got an uprated oil cooler radiator jobbie (see attachment) which takes up more room than normal. The cone just sqeezed in but is pushed up hard against the top of the rad - I had to pull the rad slightly towards the bumper to let the cone in, now the rad's at a slight angle :( Is this going to create any problems? Any experience of this?? Problem 2 - getting the cover (with badge on) to sit straight -grrr! When the screws are tight it's wonky, when looser it rattles. It was fine before  . Otherwise - feels good :D, a couple of times wh…

Has anybody rewired the rear inner brake light up to use them as a fog lamp, mainly a conversion on j spec zed I believe. The reason I ask is that whilst fitting the veilside rear apron I can't be arsed to french in the uk fog lamps .I thought of using a diode inbetween each set of light bulbs on rear clusters and then route the foglight feed to the inner brakelight, so when fogs are on only inner lights work and brake lights work seperately. but when no fogs on both sets of brake lights work. If you catch my drift, or use a series of relays to do the job. whats the best way chaps??? yours one busy zed owner with it in more bits than I care to say so…

Hi guys, just to let you all know that over the weekend i was happily driving home when some a$$hole decided he could jump the red lights. he managed to do that but i took half his front end off in the process. The police dont know who's fault it is and he says its my fault, i say its his........ so were going to court, which will probably take about 5 months over here!! My car is fairly damaged but his is worst. Mine has:- Bumper - smashed into 1001 bits Headlights - no longer have any Crossmember - completely twisted Radiator - squashed into the engine Wings - creased out looking like a bad boy wide arch Bonnet - looks like a pyramid Anywa…

Whilst sound proofing my boot last weekend, I noticed that hour after hour of having my head stuck in the boot, I was getting high on the petrol fumes. Should it be that strong? I also notice a strong smell of petrol in the morning. I have tightened the usual screws and connectors but it seems the smell is coming from the back. And, whilst having some tyres put on the back on Saturday, the n/s inner arch had a wet trail going down it but I wasn't sure if this was the shocker leaking or petrol. Petrol consumption is the same, but there did sem to be a strange puddle under the n/s silencer the other morning. Any thoughts people? Is this the dreaded f…

I want to put a XVID film onto a DVD so I can watch it on a DVD player, but when I create the DVD the sound is out of sync and gets worse through out the film, untill the soundtrack for the film ends and I have the last 10 mins of the film in silence. Does any one know any good programs to convert DIVX and XVID films to MPG first? Stuart

Almost bought my first Z on Sunday. Found it in Trader on the net. It's in Greenwich & stay clear 'cause it's a dog & it's advertised as mint with mint leather interior, 45,000 miles etc... I rang the guy & talked about it. He said the leather was like brand new, no cracks or scuffs. I asked what the exhaust was like amongst other things as I'd heard how expensive they are. Apparently it was running like a dream. I told him I was from Leyland but I if it really was as good as he reckoned I was prepared to travel.( I didn't mention the wifes Focus got free petrol) He assured me it was so down I went on a 3 hour plus journey to find a cracked & scuffed lea…

Hey everyone... Summer's coming up here in Canada, which means university's out, and I can start makin' money again. So yeah, my goal is bodykit, if nothing else. My question is, what are your thoughts on mixing bodykits? I really like the Veilside CI model, except the fascia doesn't do much for me. However, I quite like the Stillen GTZ-R1 (and R2, for that matter). I don't suppose someone out there has done this mix? Or at least a mix of kits, and has an opinion whether it was wise or not? My current choice is Veilside CI Model side-skirts, rear wing, and rear under spoiler, with the Stillen GTZ-R1 front fascia. Helpppppp meeeeeeeeeeeeee please a…

I'm getting a new engine and manual box put in my Z and want to get some serious power at the same time. What level of boost will I be running to get 500bhp? How high can you go on stock internals? 550 ish I've heard? Which turbos? Like the look of GT25's or PE1420's? Nismo 555's? Dual intake with single MAF and modded chip? Which chip? Which plugs? Had some HKS ones in but suspect they will be in a bad way if it's been detting a lot? I presume I'll need dump valves and metal hard pipes. What else will I be needing? I've got big intercoolers, single Blitz SUS intake, full stainless decat zorst, Blitz boost controller. As I'll be needing a ga…

Anyone know where I can get a diagram of the back of a ZX engine (facing forward), it needs to basically show the coolant-hose connections to the twin-turbo. I have already consulted the online manual, but can't find a good picture of it...unless I'm just being lame, wouldn't be the first time!

Last week the car developed a small oil leak, only initialy noticable by burning smell as it dripped onto the exhuast. Had it looked at this weekend during a routine oil change but the source of the leak could not be found. Suspect the car had stood a little while and much of the oil had dried/cleared/evaporated/whatever with the heat following the run to the garage. The leak is much worse now as a result of the new oil being thinner (new). Warmed the engine yesterday to check its not all just my imagnation, its not. Nothing can be seen looking down from above the engine so having crawled under the car to try to find the source (with a tourch), and not get bu…

Am I lucky or what? :D Done compression test yesterday - only 14psi difference between all cylinders with the lowest reading being 147psi. Those figures were done with the engine cold too so nice :) This means no valve damage etc so just a few intake gaskets and I'm back in business woohoo :D Just thought you'd really like to know LOL CheerZ, Andy
