Yes this again. I have more to add to it. Here are the symptoms. White smoke when I am in traffic. The exhaust tips get covered in soot in about 50 miles of driving after cleaning them. I am not losing water. I am not losing coolent. I am not losing oil. All are checked and are the same level they have been for a while. My car stinks of petrol when driving. Took it for a drive today with the roof off, and I nearly died from the smell of the fumes. It was really THAT bad. However when I drove in first about 4000-4500 rpm for a while the smell went but soon as I went back to just crusing around 1500-2000 rpm the smell came back. This sugge…

would 20" with 225/35 profile tires fit a 300zx? if so would the performance/handling/brakes be badly afectted? the rims in question are mania vernmot chrome, iv seen a nova, 206 cc, 106 and other small cars running 19"s so why not 20s on a Z?

OK, this is a long shot - but before I place an order with Courtesy for same - does anyone have a duff speed sensor from a USA spec (160MPH speedo'd) 300ZX TT! I just want the gearing so that I can convert my speedo to an accurate 160MPH! I purchased great gauges from eBay for 26USD and the gear costs 14USd plus postage - it's a no brainer! Any help appreciated! AndyGP

Hello all. having recently purchased a '94' 300ZX and very happy too, I notice that the cam belt was changed at 56000 miles (4500 ago) but not the water pump. Are all agreed that the pump should be replaced now or will it survive for a while? Would it still be cheaper to buy the kit from Courtesy? All good advice gratefully received.

Is the Zed going out of fashion or something? I`ve never seen so many for sale. Even when I was looking for mine about a year back they were like gold dust, now they`re at dealers, on ebay, autotrader, everywhere and lots of em! Are we experiencing a migration from the Zed or are these all just fly by night zedders?

Jeff Thanks for the tip with getting the rad out all i did in the end is block the pipes up with a small rag, it worked a treat for as long as it took to get the rad out. When i filled it up it did not leak but has soon as i put it back in the Z and filled the rad it started to drip, any chance you can test it for me next week? you could also have a good look at my oil prob and see if you want to do it and when. Can you get one of these rads? How much ? can they be repared ?. Ken ;)

My beautiful, elegant, handsome red TT has failed the MOT test. Brake pipes over the transmission need replacing. Local garage reckons anything in region of £1000 - £3000. I do not have the time, proper space or facilities to fix it myself. Mechanically sound (fsh, stick, alloys, Thatcham 2, K reg.) and she is a UK car. Maybe someone would like to buy her for fixing (Or spares... but please don't tell me that, I'd hate think of her being broken up). Perhaps there's an enthusiast who would like to fix things for me?

Hi Guy's Last night tried to go out in the car and it didn't start, looks like the battery wasn't cranking good enough, almost started. So left it on charge overnight, tried again this morning and the same. I'll go get a new battery this morning.as it's been getting low for a while now, kept on meaning to give it a good charge but never got round to it. Anyway i'm now worried sick that it still wont start with a new battery. Could it now be flooded!!!! Any ideas!!! Just realised they look a little daunting when they don't start!!!. A very worried ZX owner!!. Any help much appreciated. Cheers Dave. ( ZX N/A )

Dodgy Sales Not only does the one advertised for 4k look rougher than a rough thing on a rough day contained in a rough week (and for those of you that have good eye's it used to be red, check out the bottom of the bumper near the front tyre!!) Look at the state of the one behind it!!! The ad says 'No Dreamers', he must be dreaming if he thinks he's going to sell that, I think he would have trouble giving it away for spares............... *NB - All above is my opinion and my opinion only, feel free to add your own! :D Matty.

I know, sounds like a book for a 2 year old. But it's for a 37 year old. I'm very interested in a G reg Z & will probably buy it this weekend. I keep getting this feeling in my brain that I'm buying a car that's too old. The guy assures me it's near immaculate inside & out 'cept for a few scratches he's pointed out. It's done 55,000 miles (realise I've cam belt to do) ignition amplifier's been done, super dragger cat back, Always used mobil 1. Am I buying a car about to start costing me hods? By the way he wants 3800, I'm gonna go for 3500 obviously.

Hi Guys Just bought a Jap spec TT and have discovered that it has an HKS airfilter. It's the type that's a green spunge and looks like a mushroom. I know absolutly nothing about these and it's pretty filthy. To clean it, do I just take out the element and rinse it, or will it need replacing. Cheers Jon

Just to mark the spot! I'm so sad, when I get back I will want to catch up on whats been going on here, so just seemed like a handy marker for me. Just let it trundle down the page.....minding its own business, and hey, in a weeks time I will know where to start reading from. (don't reply or that will really scupper my plan!) Ha ha, will probably get "moved". Take it easy people.

Thought I`d tell you all about my good news! With Lifesure right now and paid them £1300 last year (30 year old, no NCB). Gottthe renewal notice through today and they wanted just over a grand for this years premium. Was ringing round getting a few quotes (anything from £1800-£950) and tried Carole Nash. They quoted me £359! Yup, a saving of around 700 squids. Its a classic policy too, so I can add the NCB from last year on the policy fo my everyday driver. Asked the guy why it was so cheap, asked again, asked to have the details faxed through to me.....looked at details and can`t find the catch.....is there a catch with classic policies? Happy...happy…

Just got a quote off aon. 583 fully comp at 37 with 4 years nc on a Jap tt. Other insurers I tried were pretty shocked. Another interesting quote was from A plan, that was 495 third party but the other ones too good to pass up. Aon will give you a British spec price on an import. The guy said they've been researching the situation & realise how rediculous it is. Also they don't just take your details & bang it through the computer & thats what you get, they under write it depending on things like whether you've driven high performance cars before & your clean licence etc... in other words they think about what they're doing. Hopefully I will be…

Anybody know which bulbs fit in the driving lamps and where I can get them from.. it's a jap-spec, so I'm guessing it's like the main lamp bulbs and not something I can just wander into halfords for!

Now as I understand it your standard Injectors max out at about 15 PSI. Replacing your injectors to 555 or higher is not exactly cheap, has any body used one of the above items to up the fuel pressure therefore giving more fuel delivery ?????
