To answer a question asked a few days back the link shows the difference between the UK standard plug on the right compared to the Japanese spec plug on the left. The insulator nose is much shorter on the UK plug and hence is a cooler position than the Japanse spec plug, running the aformentioned on UK petrol leads to the plug possibly running too hot and possible detonation and/or misfire. Having said that see many import zeds running fine on them, which is in part due to a good service levels but in the main charactoristics of each engine ..in my view anyway. Jeff TT

Drove from Brighton to Boxhill on Sunday....noticed in my rear view mirror that I was being followed by a couple of hundred other Z's!! F*ck this I thought, so I floored it but the buggers kept up with me and some had the cheek to overtake me! Right , I thought , I'll teach you all a lesson , so when we got to a roundabout I slipped in close behind a silver Z. He was driving round and round (must have been lost!!) and then all the others just sped off . That'll teach 'em!!!:D :D :D F.T.

Hey, Told Adrain Flux about fitting the Stillen intake last week. Result: they want £144 extra:eek:   . Shocking! The other mods (exhaust, decat, momo wheel, alloys, strut brace) had NIL effect on stock quote. And they want a cheque "within 10 days" Jeez! Pete

Guys probably a silly question but hey wtf. You guys have spent shit loads on yours cars, how do you get the insurance to recongise this? For example if it got stolen they would normally only pay book price no matter what you say its worth, so if you spend 20k getting your zed sorted you don't want a payment back for 5k. How do you get this sorted? Ta Martin

Hi all, 3 months ago a rather silly girl reversed into my Z in her Polo. Since then I've been waiting for a new passenger door to replace my severly dentented one. Last week St Martin's Nissan finally received the door but managed to stamp on it/completely ruin it before getting it to the bodywork place. They now say it's going to be another 6 weeks! Does anyone have a passenger door for a SWB Z or know where I can get one? Cheers, Andy

I need to get hold of some silicon lubricant but I don't know what it is or where I can get it. I went down to Halfords and B&Q and couldn't find anything which called itself silicon lubricant. Can anyone help ? Is it a grease of some sort ? I need it for the chassis of my paramotor and given the fact that a failure would be more than a little catastrophic, I'm kind of keen to get the right stuff ! Cheers Dave

Hi, (1st post) I bought a 1990 Japanese imported 300zx fairlady a couple of years ago and on the whole she's been pretty reliable. As with buses, all the problems seem to have arrived at once. First off my Autobox will only go into first and second when in drive. It's still good enough to break the speed limit but I can't imagine driving bouncing off the rev limiter is going to do it any good :) Is this a common problem? Secondly one of my turbos has started to smoke on idle. I realise I will have to replace this but should I do both together and can anyone recommend a good source for replacement units? I was going to try and get some kind of hybrid from S…

I think the majority of people on here know that when you put an aftermarket exhaust on the Z there isn't enough back pressure to hold the rear turbo seals in place so you end up with turbo smoke. (happened on my 200 actually but cured it to some extent with a one way valve in the breather pipe). My question is, is this always the case 'cause the car I was meant to be looking at (which broke down) today had a super dragger on but apparently no smoke. I wondered if it's 'cause it's only cat back?

Good news: Went to Santa Pod today to test times with the new intake - got best time yet of 14.204s @ 100.91mph - woohoo! :D Bad news: Had a water leak straight after my only run, which slowed when the car cooled down. Looked like the hose going through the firewall to the heater matrix had a fine pinhole puncture. So when the time came to go I set off cautiously, but 2 miles down the road steam everywhere and water all over the road  Luckily I did manage to pull over and cut the engine before *all* the water flowed out, the remaining water came out while engine off. Phoned the AA who arrived in 20 mins :) and found the offending hose, now with 1…

Well, so my Zed saga continues.... tonight my zed died on me whilest idling. I tried to start it to no avail (just cranking over). Called the AA out, (lovely bloke) who tried a few things, pretty much everything that i'd already done. He eventually got the thing started by keeping it cranking until it stumbles and catches. Tomorrow I'm going to find out what's wrong with it. The symptoms are:- A really unstable idle, sometimes dying, sometimes when the clutch is depressed the revs stay at, say 2000 instead of dropping down. Now I think the fuel pump is making more noise than usual. I know I can test it by checking the load on it, but what are the figures…

Took rear drivers side wheel off today for brake inspection. Noticed a small cooling device like a tiny radiator / intercooler attached to the underneath of the car quite close to the drivers side. Couldn't work out what it was for!! Cheers. Andrew
